  1. looks like we're gonna need more smiting
  2. This has been a long time coming. I look forward to working with our long time friends in Umb and sengoku as well as our new friends as well.
  3. I suppose we haven't made your life easy, but you've always seemed like a swell guy. Congrats on retirement.
  4. Thanks again goldie for taking us from rank 48 in the depths of Equilibrium to where we are today. I can't wait to see what this generation of Viridian leaders will bring.
  5. I believe the term CB is used in a more general sense within this thread. While Everything Must Die was a preempt, it still had meaning. NPO was staying out of a war while the two other groupings fought, allowing it to grow more powerful relative to the other two. It was preempted to avoid such a scenario. It might not be a justifiable reason in the eyes of some people but it's a good one. This thread though is about wars that don't have any reason at all, that occur simply out of boredom.
  6. lol, I'm suprised you didn't put us down for more of those categories
  7. The only reason one would stay up is to to do quad attacks over update. There is no point to staying up to defend against attacks since most attacks occur within the span of minutes and you will almost never be able to rebuy troops fast enough to thwart the subsequent attacks.
  8. You can repeat that all you want, but it is an objective fact that we lost 76% of our ns defending Umbrella. You guys lost 50%. Our damage ratio was also somewhere arouind 1.2, I forget the exact value.
  9. One of the deals is to Colins40, who was a former member of VE for many years. The other two appear to be finishing up their tech deals.
  10. Failed in what arguments? A nation in a non-neutral alliance with a warchest that low isn't incompetent?
  11. Time and time again, Wombats (and their predecessor, the World Federation) have rolled out for us unconditionally and fought on despite the counters piled onto them. And not that half assed hiding in peace mode sort of fighting either. So if that means they're crap, I'd dare say that every alliance in CN is crap.
  12. [OOC] I don't believe Grant was ever officially in charge of the Army of the Potomac. Meade was. Also, I believe GAR was the veterans organization created after the war. Grant's rank was General of the Army of the United States, which is more or less what Goldie had.[/OOC]
  13. What is MK's tie to NPO again? And I see you're still equating preventing a 2 million NS MADP partner from being ground into dust with "protecting" a 12 million NS mass that was never close to being outnumbered to begin with.
  14. MK at the time was treatied to all of PB. I see that as limiting our options if things went south, in terms of support from allies. You can view it as you wish. Also, throwing our weight around? We had a MADP with GOD, who was our oldest ally at the time, and we said we'd be forced to defend them if certain lines were crossed. You can call that what you want. Personally, I thought "throwing weight around" meant name dropping certain alliances to push a position, without their actual approval, but whatever.
  15. I remember this war once where GOD made up 12 million NS, and they outnumbered the other side more than 3 to 1 but couldn't be countered. Oh and they were the ones that started the war instead of being targetted.Oh wait, nevermind, that actually didn't happen. Also, if iirc, our main objection was the potential mess from MK hitting them. We actually let a combined NS of more than MK hit, so yeah, totally limiting damage there.
  16. Thank you for the shout out. Good luck with rebuilding.
  17. You're assuming that the original strategy of our coalition was to hide in peace mode.
  18. Sard, I appreciate the sentiment. But when a certain alliance tries to pretend that two months wasn't long enough for them to release their tiers and enter this war, when they claim that we were the ones not following coalition policy, when they dismiss all the damage we've done in support of their coalition no less as simply a stupid suicide rush...well, you see why some of us are justifiably upset.
