In a republic, the country is ruled by representatives elected by the people, not the "people themselves", which is exactly what that link you gave says, yes, but not the description given by the game. Though "They desire a government that makes decisions based on fair elective processes." is a fair description of a democracy. But thanks for the clarification. It doesn't really matter, as I would've switched to democracy anyway strategically for the bonuses. It just struck me as odd when I did switch and my people weren't happy with it, based on the description. Thanks again though.

So, I have a question... "Democracy - Your people approve of this form of government but the majority of your people would prefer something else. They wish to be ruled by the people themselves and more specifically do not want to be ruled by a royal family. (Next Available Change 4/6/2011)" They want democracy, but not democracy. I know my people are only 22.7% literate, but this makes no sense. d: I'm guessing the correct answer is republic, if not democracy, but this is an incorrect description of a republic.
