1. Proconsul Caesar convened a senate that was to decide Latium's actions in regards to the fate of European nationals trapped within the confines of an irritated Tunisia. Bringing the letter before the senate, each would find a copy on his or her designated chair.
Estemed Senate of New Latium, We reach you with news that is certain to be of interest to your young republic. The regions of Tunis, Ariana, & Ben Arous have become harbors of rebellious citizens of Tunisia. Between aggressive clashes with Tunisian officials & other means of defiance, including refusal to pay taxes, the rebel community has voted in favor of European administration, namely Latin. It is with a heavy heart that we might consider the idea of revoking the citizenship of these people & region, but we feel as they do, that this is the best means to preserving peace. We open ourselves to a friendship with Latium & relations with Europe. Ours is a nation of Islam & one that this community has long challenged interfering with the will of our majority, surely you, with your foundations laid in the creed of rule of the people should understand that these rebels present a threat to this foundation as the situation stands. Sincerely, Princess Majida Al-Fayyoumi
"I have been asked if this community is diseased. If they are steeped in plague to the marrow of their bones! I have no explanation for the rejection of these people by their own government. We know them only to be our brothers, our sisters, our cousins! And we may weep for them, but then we must do our duty, for these people are not Tunisian but to the draw of their blood they are Europeans! Latins! And what is left for us to do but free them? Free them, & embrace them. If it is in Roman arms they find their shelter, then it is with Roman steel that we will protect them!" A following vote saw a super majority of the Senate in support of Latin actions in regards to the reject community of Tunisia. At that, Caesar ordered a Legion to accompany him to the shores of the modern Carthage to secure administration to the populace. Still, many where concerned with the Republics involvement & feared the risk to Latin soldiers. It was decided that the risk was worth taking, rather than see European lives lost to the actions of an increasingly aggravated government. This following the extravagant public oath of office to Proconsul Gaius Caesar only hours before convening the Senate on an emergency basis.
2.
"I did not say forcing, your grace," responded the Prince, turning to the Archbishop of Canterbury. "What I said is that in situations where people are distraught, after wars, disasters, and such catastrophes that are a fact of life, people look for guidance. Many of them find solace in religion, if missionaries and people supporting them came to assist them in their hour of need, it may pay dividends in the end. Religious guidance can take many forms, not just openly putting a sword to a throat and forcing conversion whilst preaching to them. At that same token, a lot of extremism is born at that same level, out of desperation and disaster, many a demagogue has found the ear of the people after a great calamity. It is all a question of which shepherd is faster to gain the ear of the flock, following the disaster."
The latin Pontiff nodded in agreement to the Prince's statement & replied, "We certainly have the potential present here to give hope for order from chaos, whereas it stands now with religious extremism, chaos has simply been morphed into a self-perpetuating existence. Let us break the chain; let us perpetrate peace to the faith."
3. The Pontiff of Latium arrived & speaks before the many nations who make up the audience, "God's will has already been mutated through the acts of corrupt & twisted extremists who unite in slaughter, professing to do so in His name. God must surely shine upon this meeting, for if we remain true to God's will for man then He is ours not theirs! Would you not lend your hand to restore truth to the faithful? If we do not secure Christianity's frontiers, factions truley anti-christian in nature, will surely see them breached. We may save the faith, we may drive out the prophets of war & falsified light. To unite against these false prophets will cost us dearly, but I shudder to consider the costs of appeasement in our lifetime & thereafter in judgment of failure to act. The hatred of men is strong, but the love of God is infinitely stronger. Let us unite. Let us become the protectors of peace & the faith, for those of war & beloved to sin already forge their strategies of conquest. Men are not perfect but let us do something! We have seen enough of blood, hatred & steely death; should we draw the line here, I foresee nothing less than a Pax Christiana & a more peaceful, tolerant world."
4. Bustle begins to echo within the marble columns & white limestone grounds as dedicated men & women forge the future of the Republic. This is the Latin Forum, the very heart of Latium & Her Republic. Here, the ultimate power & authority of Latin politics rests firmly. The beauty of the Forums invited citizens, whom could be seen on early morning jogs between the towering columns, or at any time of day a Latin family strolling through, simply admiring the sights. A light drizzle moistens the morning air as Senators retreat the the inner chambers of the Forum. “I call this meeting of the Roman senate to order, all rise!" The senate speaker took his usual place at the centre podium & offered a glance at the senators in attendance, “Please be seated. Commence the role call.” Senators where called by name, their absence or presence noted before the senate began, “…Convening this meeting Latin Senate, for the matter of vote of selection for the Consulship of the Republic, Executive chair of New Latium. The question stands, senators. Is Latium ready to lend power away from the senate?” The senators bickered stubbornly amongst themselves for a moment as members began to voice their opinions. “With us today are the nominees for Consulship selected by the Comitia Centuriata; Julius Talliator & selected by the Consilium Plebis Gaius Cabanisio.” The senate gave a welcomed applause to the nominees as they appeared before the speaker. “Gentlemen, are there any words you would like to share with the Senate? Voice your arguments now or neglect your say for this issue.” Talliator nervously eyed the senate & decided to remain in his seat. He assumed his connections & high standing among the Patrician class, or aristocracy would do all the necessary speaking for him. Seeing Talliator made no effort to do so, Gaius removed his helmet & took the podium, his red Roman cape draped over his back. His imagery masterfully mirrored that of ancient Rome, captivating the audience as their imaginations brought them back in time. Gaius lifted his chin & presented a confident expression as he spoke; "What an auspicious day. Many gave their lives, that we might stand here once again, united in the government of a lawful Republic.” Senators applauded his opening statements “And how fitting that we welcome this new beginning by unearthing an ancient foundation; the swearing in of first Consul to New Latium, in the latest history of Rome. All of Latium is grateful & indebted to our senate, its authority derived from Latin precedent, custom, and the high caliber of our senators, each one of you. Dearest senate, I take this first moment before you, not to glorify myself but to honor the Republic. In its honor I declare that my term as Consul shall usher in a new era- an era of moral virtue, of dignity. The debortuary & chaos the civilized world has had to endure will now end. Rome shall be again as she once was: A proud Republic of virtuous populace & honest governance!” Senators stood to applaud Gaius’s oration, clearly he was winning them over as their uncertainties & suspicions began to fade. Panic befell Julius as he began to see that all around him, senators where partaking in Gaius's standing ovation. For the first time since the creation of the Republic, the senate appeared to be united behind one man. This was a historic sight that awed the Senate speaker who rose from his seat by Gaius & declared, “Look how you have united us; you may be the hero of this Republic. Caesar himself could not have conjured a finer achievement!” Gaius looked to the speaker & smiled, “I am Caesar himself.” It was decreed by senatus consultum that the Consulship shall be restored, with Gaius Cabanisio, popularly known as Gaius Caesar, presiding as the sole Consul of the Republic. The announcement would read in the papers; [PUBLIC] "The establishment of the Latin consuls is a necessity for the Republic, vital for the survival of our lawful systems. The seat of consul is established solely in the power vested by the state in a person to do what he considers to be in the best interests of the state. Latin Senate has cradled the infant governance of the Republic to its coming of age, as a small child growing too large for his mothers arms. We welcome Consul Gaius Caesar to the chair. May Latium press forward, never to allow Latium fall!” Latin Consuls would sit as Chief Execturive of the Republic, & sitting as chairmen of the Latin Senate; effective head of government.
5. The Latin representatives gathered their materials, stood, & saluted the Tunisians. "The remainder of these discussions must, unfortunately be resumed at a later date. We are sincerely dismayed at the situation, these people face. The inhabit a small portion of your territory. They are unwanted by their government. I say, let them remain where they stand & let them rule themselves or so otherwise would likely be persecution & Latium would not sit idle if such should occur." As the representatives made their way for the exit, Gaius stopped & turning around he said, "I can offer you this: administration over these people shall be secured by Latium, provided it is by the will of these innocent people & theirs alone. We shall be taking our leave for Europe & our beautiful republic. Expect to recive word from the Senate in the days to come. They should like to be regularly informed of the unfolding situation. Farewell." With that, the Latin representatives exited the building & made their way back to New Latium without so much as a hint at any trade agreement.
6. The Latin representatives are appalled by the sight & shocked by the accompanying request. "You expect us to wipe away the issues of YOUR nation?" Gaius nearly leaped from his seat, the Latins where ardent believers in the rights of all men, Gaius was no exception. He growled, "These people. These families! They have every right to see that it is their will that is done for them by their government; they should NOT have to abandon their own homes to seek a place where this is so!" The guards rushed in to see the commotion. Gaius collected himself & inquired, "Tell me sir, what kind of government is running this..this..Tunisia? You do not want this people & they do not want you, that much is clear. Why, not?"
7.
"While we are open to this application we will withhold voting for a while longer to see the general opinion"
Let us hope the remainder of the parliament is not doing the same. New Latium has received no clue at all whether or not our request has even been considered. We would appreciate it if this noble parliament would consider our request.
8. The ships unloaded their small group of passengers onto Tunisian soil. The small team of Latin diplomats entered the room, followed by a small security detail of five. Two guards would wait outside of the room, the remaining three would remain present for the meeting. The diplomats, topped each with a Civic crown, greeted their hosts before taking their seats. "We are extremely happy to be in Tunisia, I am Gaius Cabanisio, senior diplomat of New Latium. It appears as though the legacy of our ancestors in Carthage continues on. Well, lets get to it shall we? What is it exactly you wish to discuss?"
9. New Latium accepts the invitation to Tunisia. A representative dispatch including guards is en route to your port at Tunis, we hope this will work fine by the Tunisian port authority. Commercial Latin ships will be used as transport to & from Tunisia
10. New Latium is glad to be welcomed to the world & we are certainly open to the establishment of official diplomatic relations with any & all friendly States, feeling that diplomacy & open dialogue are the most promising avenues available to the civilized world that will help to secure each & every nation's place in the Mediterranean. Our republic is also very interested in the prospects of trade agreements & we hope, very much so, that trade will be welcomed by our neighbors.
11. By Senatorial decree, the nation of New Latium has applied for membership into this Parliament.
12. Veneto, Italy minus a small strip off the top as to not split the Athenian Federation, may now be labeled New Latium if the mapmaker would do so at his convenience, please.

The Roman people are in support of this valiant campaign against radical & barbaric states. Fearless, to the fringes & off the edge of the civilized world to answer the call to war by tyrants, we applaud you & when we stabilize our legions should fight alongside you until victory or death is upon us. This is one battle in the war for the fate of Africa, if not the world. Official Notice, Senatus Populusque
14. Venetians have long considered themselves the heirs to a Roman lineage. Pursuing the traditions of the ancient Roman Republic, they have all but deserted their Italian identities & reclaiming common Roman roots, declare themselves again, the Latin people. Negotiating respectfully with the Athenian Federation, the senate & the people of Venice have secured their Latin state. Veneto is considered the "New Latium" throughout the state; its capital Venice, the new Seat of Rome. The movement for secession & self-determination to be an ally to Athens, rather than an aspect of it, had succeeded by the graciousness of the Athenian people who had so long kept well the lands of Latium & magnificently managed they're glorious Federation. It was time for Veneto to break apart from its mother State & as New Latium tries its hand in nationhood., the Republic stands at a crossroads in history. . . An aged man made his way gradually toward the newly constructed Forums, the thriving political center of the new republic. Carrying in his hand only a small stack note cards, he entered the innermost halls where senators discussed loudly on issues concerning the new state & local matters, sharing news & opinions, not noticing the elderly senator as he entered & took to the podium at the head of the hall. Despite his age, he was able to muster a deep, & commanding oratory that forced the attention of anyone within earshot. The calamity of debate within the Forum halls is quelled by the speaker at once, "Romans! Senators! My friends. New Latium is now a state of its own & firmly under the rule of the Senate." The senate gave a cheer to their speaker in celebration to their new state. "The Latin people are again the rulers of their own destiny. Not since noble Athens united & protected the Roman states under its federation, from the grips of barbaric men & armies, have we known such a glorious day! But now my friends in this hour of glory, we must be on our guard. To the south; only Mare Nostrum divides the civilized from the & barbarian world. Africa is being carved into lands of warlords; their violent states making war with the world! Their armies run rampant by the commands of tyrants. These tyrants threaten Latium! Will we abandon our civilization?" In a fury, the senate shouted heated words against the "barbarian states" of the world. The Senate speaker raised his arms to calm the excitement. "Extremist factions threaten the orderly systems & progress of our world, burning & pillaging once thriving lands. Making war for the sake of war alone- shall we let danger fester and grow!" The Senators where united in their utter disgust with the threat that loomed from radical states. Rome would have never allowed this to remain as such, & neither would they. "Or will we act as Romans! With courage & dignity; Remember, we ARE the Sons of Mars!" Senators stood & cheered in praise to the speakers statement, saluting him & hailing the new Latin Republic. "As Senate leader I declare the SENATUS POPULUSQUE VENETIA (S.P.Q.V.) into glorious existence! And I call upon every Tribune of the Republic to smash religious extremism & to liberate this Age back to the civilized world! All those in favor, say Aye!" The Senators rallied from their seats & unanimously declared "Aye!" in a mass of applause.
