1. I think you can probably survive alone if you are armed to the teeth, i.e. defcon 1, 5 guerilla camps, full complement of soldiers and tanks and the best airforce you can afford. Also helps to have nukes. Basically, raiders want easy targets. Very few of them are masochists who are looking to get beat up. The trouble with this strategy is that it is so costly you will make very little money and very little progress. Even then you may still get attacked occasionally. I did once while unaligned but it was the raider who lost most of his tech!
2. Thanks, Captain. That makes sense.
3.
each nuke reduces your environment a bit which affects happiness, which lowers income
Hmm. That still doesn´t explain so dramatic a fall. I noticed virtually no change in income untill I reached ten nukes. Is there a jump at ten?
4.
I used to know someone that was vehemently anti labor camps
Hey, I've never had labor camps, and I'm not doing too badly. You can still make enough to buy a wonder every month.
5. I noticed this today. My daily tax take has fallen from $124 to $121 per person since yesterday, and I can't see why - no change in technology level or trades. I've got Great Temple and Great Monument, so people are happy with their government and religion. I don't have a moon base, but am buying nuclear weapons. What is going on?
6. Bump. Anyone interested will need a harbour to participate in the circle, and we will give you aid to build one if you don't have one.
7. Hi everyone, two members of my trade circle have gone inactive and are going to delete in a few days. I'm looking for two people, one with pigs and water, the other with marble and iron. Trade circle is 4BR plus uranium - beer, fast food, construction and steel. If interested, please pm in game: http://www.cybernations.net/nation_drill_display.asp?Nation_ID=422224
8. Hi everyone, One of the members of my trade circle is about the be deleted through inactivity (Svenborgia) so we need a replacement asap. The trade circle is 4BR plus uranium - beer, fast food, construction and steel. If you have pigs and water and are interested, please send a pm in-game. Pleae also indicate if you are willing to change to maroon. http://www.cybernations.net/nation_drill_display.asp?Nation_ID=422224
9. Good advice, thaone, which I shall follow in due course. The Cyberverse is an odd sort of place. Not like the real world of state societites, with UN and international law, at all. More like a pre-state world of warring tribes. The closest real world equivalent to the Cyberverse is probably the highlands of New Guinea.
10. If you want sellers, may I suggest increasing the price to $3m/50 tech, and doing 2x2 deals? I'm selling tech $3m/50, and all my slots are full. I wouldn't even consider a $3m/100 deal.
11.
I'm not sure you can use "They tech raid" as a very good sign of how big of a war monger they are.
Yes, I guess you can be aggressive without being a tech raider. I noticed the defence pact between GOONS and Viridian Entente, which seems odd given the reference on cyber-wiki I saw to "the ongoing dispute" between VE and GOONS, unless the refernce is outdated. One of the reasons I find it hard to choose an alliance is I don't really know, at the end of the day, what most of them stand for - though in some cases, eg GOONS, Nordreich, Poison Clan, it's pretty clear. Also fairly clear with those that have "Conservative" or "Socialist" in their names. Some are clearly collections of cyber riff-raff - eg those that accept anyone regardless of history. But the rest?
12. Some alliances seem to positively encourage tech raiding, and enjoy destroying unaligned nations. That seems pretty warlike to me. Others, eg Viridian Entente, discourage it. Seems to me that alliances that don't allow their members to tech raid are the most peaceful. What a newbie like me really needs is a "Good Alliance Guide." I've heard of Karma and Hegemony, apparently two big treaty blocs, but I'm darned if I know who is in which bloc, or what each stands for or what their differences are.
13. A very belated thank you for that answer, Captain. Here's another question in case anyone looks by: What is the maximum number of aeroplanes you can send on an air assault? Is it the maximum you can have? Also, can you do air assaults and send cruise missiles if anarchied?
14. Slot now filled. Thread closed.
15. Selling grog, delivered in advance so no risk to buyer, 50tech/$3m. One slot available. Please pm in game if interested. http://www.cybernations.net/nation_drill_display.asp?Nation_ID=422224
16. Thanks, that's useful to know. In case anyone's still reading this, here's another question (they just keep popping into my head ). I've read that if you are attacked after being 13 days inactive, the attacker doesn't get your tech or cash (it just gets destroyed). But I seem to remember reading elsewhere that this happens after 7 days inactive, and the number 11 days is also in the back of my mind for some reason. Can anyone confirm how long it really is?
17.
3. The cap for aircraft damages is 20 and more if you have more tech. The number does not really mean much. I typically only send 3 level 9 bombers and that's enough.
Thanks for responding, Itsuki Koizumi. I appreciate it. But I'm not sure I understand what you said in point 3. above. Is the amount of infrastructure you can destroy per raid capped at 20? I though I read somewhere it was 40. Or are you saying the damage is restricted to that which 20 bombers can do?
18. Dunno if anyone's still reading this, but here are a few more questions that occurred to me: 1. What is the best form of attack to (a) anarchy a nation (b) steal their tech? Cautious, planned, aggressive or standard? 2. What is better, 10 level-2 fighters or 20 level-1 fighters? Is a level-9 fighter equaivalent to 9 level-1 fighters? 3. Presumably bombing damage depends on no. of planes sent and and their level? Is there any point in bombing with a small number of level-1 bombers, say 4 or 6? Is there an optimal number to send at each level? Is more always better?
19. Thanks, thaone. I think the fact that you have to join an alliance or get eaten is one of the negative aspects of this game. I'd rather be independent. Alliances chuck money at you and then all you do is build infrascturcture... and build infrastructure... and more infrastructure... and an improvement... and then more infrastructure.... (I'm falling asleep just writing this). There's no challenge to that whatsoever. I'd rather not have any handouts, make my own money and see how far I can go.
20. Thanks for the info, Captain. The guy I was thinking of attacking has fifty aircraft. He'd probably bomb me into the stone age. I'd better choose an easier target.
21. Thanks, xenon, that's interesting. Is GA - groud attack, CM - cruise missile attack, AC, air convoy? From the CN Wiki: "However, the nation will be considered "defeated". Its government will be placed into Anarchy, riots will begin, its tanks will be dismantled, and the nation will lose 20% of its infrastructure (up to 20). These penalties will occur every day (once a day) that its attacker loads the battle screen until sufficient military forces are rebuilt." This suggests he loses his all tanks, but what about his airforce? Is a successful ground attack sufficient to wipe out an airforce and CMs as well as tanks?
22. Hi everyone, I'm a new player and would appreciate some help. I've read the nation building guide on this forum and another guide and articles in the Cybernations Wiki, but still have some questions. 1. Soldiers. What determines soldier efficiency, apart from DEFCON level? Is is dependent on tech? If so, is the formula relating efficiency to technology the same as for tanks? Are soldiers on their own any good against soldiers plus tanks? Is a tank just an extra 25 soldiers? 2. Tanks. Does the efficiency of tanks depend on the tech you had when you bought them, or the tech you have now, assuming the two are different? I've read somewhere that the game keeps no record of history, which suggests it is the tech you have when you fight. 3. Correct tank deployment. I've come across a reference to this. Anyone know what it means? 4. The 2-2-2 strategy. Ditto. 5. Do you lose your entire airforce and cruise missiles when you get occupied? If not, can you still launch attacks with them against the occupying nation? Do you lose all your tanks? 6. Occupation. What can you do when you are occupied? Can you buy soldiers, tanks etc and carry on fighting, or is the war over for you? Can you buy tech or infrastructure? Also, does an occupied country lose tech, infrastructure and technology every day when occupied, or just when it is first occupied? I know it can lose infra every day through bombing raids. I'm thinking of fighting my first war, against a more powerful nation (he has aircraft and I don't, but I have far more people) but I'd like to know what I'm getting into. Thanks for your help.
