Grounded

Ten days. It's not that long, but it depresses me beyond belief. So for that length of time I will disappear from here and wordlessly protest my mother's actions. I'll see you around, users.
  2. It's great to hear you've become a nation. His Majesty Ael'iyon, our King, despite being busy, sends his congratulations and greetings. Please let us know when you are ready to start diplomacy- we would be glad to speak to you and establish a good relationship. Sir Asphodel G. Rayne Knight of Xendria
  3.
From: King Ael'iyon Trevan Nahali of Xendria To: Empress Maria Theresia of Amazonia Theresia, Thank you very much for your advice. I'll be sure to do that, and I'm planning to go through the nation and speak to the people. I will write should I need more help. Feel free to visit at any time. Just let me know a day or two in advance so that I can prepare. Sincerely, Ael'iyon
4.
President Abdul, I have no questions. I'll let Asphodel know. Thank you. King Ael'iyon Nahali
5.
President Abdul: It would be a pleasure to host a diplomat here in my humble Xendria, and I look forward to one day meeting you personally. Please let me know who I am to expect. I will not be able to greet them myself, as I have things to attend to, but I will send one of my knights, Sir Asphodel Rayne, to do so, and we will meet then in the palace and speak. Sincerely, King Ael'iyon Nahali
6.
From: King Ael'iyon Trevan Nahali of Xendria To: Empress Maria Theresia of Amazonia Dear Maria Theresia, First and foremost, excuse my informality. I've never been very good with speaking formally. I write to you asking for your help. I am sure you know quite a lot more about ruling a nation than I, as my mother died without warning and left me a brand new nation. My own people don't believe in my ability to rule, and this worries me. I fear they may be right, and so I took a chance and here I am, writing to you. I'm not sure how to establish relations with other nations, who to avoid angering, and how to keep the people happy. It's something of a nightmare for me to not know something- I was rather proud less than a week go of all I knew. Now, though, it's as if I know nothing. I am willing, if you wish, to meet with you, or we can speak via written correspondence. I know you are busy, and so I would really appreciate any time you took out of your day to reply to me. Sincerely, Ael'iyon Nahali

  7. Really, I have nothing to lose. Here we go... With a sigh, Ael'iyon looked over the letter he'd drafted.
From the desk of King Ael'iyon Trevan Nahali of Xendria I write in the hope of establishing an alliance of some kind between our nations. As you may well know, we the people of Xendria are not at all used to being a nation on our own. I myself only became ruler as a cause of my mother's death, and it embarrasses me to say this, but I never put much interest into politics during my school years. My people are unsure of my authority and they doubt I can rule, being so young. This letter is short because I have limited time available to write, but I am willing to make time should you desire to speak with me or a representative of my nation.
It was good, it was concise... and it needed addressees. He put the letter aside, then picked up his list of people he wanted to send it to. He looked up, and realized Kanda was gone. He's been acting strange lately, and Ael'iyon had been trying to figure out what it was the bodyguard was hiding from him for quite a while... It was time to do a little research on what was happening in his own court. In Private (unknown to Ael'iyon) "Sir Asphodel Rayne's office." Kanda sighed. "Yes, please tell him Kandyn's calling." "Right away. please hold." the receptionist said. Two rings, and Asphodel was on the phone. "What do you need, Kandyn?" Kanda took a shaky breath and murmured, "Asphodel... I can't pretend anymore. Ael'iyon's starting to notice I'm not what I say I am." "There's obviously more to it than that, Kandyn. Are you at risk of being found out?" Another shaky breath was dragged into Kanda's lungs. "Yes, I am. You know that he doesn't know that I'm really a woman." Kanda dropped the false voice that had become natural to her, returning to her feminine tone. "I'm pregnant, Asphodel. He's going to know." "What?" In his office, the blind knight slammed his fist on the desk. "Kandyn, you know that Ael'iyon can't find out that you're a woman and that you were actually the woman he was to marry in his arranged marriage. All he knows is that that woman mysteriously went missing, and that for protection, I employed you to keep him safe." "And now I'm having your child. Asphodel, this has gone on long enough. I'm telling Ael'iyon tomorrow morning what we've been keeping from him for 8 years, because if he doesn't know as soon as possible, when he does find out, it'll be a shock to him. It's best he be told that a woman masquerading as a man has protected him since his fiancee went missing."
  8. I'm sort of hungry, and I have Pocky in my backpack I'm not supposed to eat. ._.

  9. Ael'iyon had opted (somewhat wisely) to hit the books. He knew nothing about politics and ruling a nation, and he thought it best to research the history of the nations on the planet. So now he pored over books on Amazonia and Tianxia (among others), and sighed as he scribbled down notes. "This is so complicated..." Kanda looked over his sunglasses at the youth and made an amused sound in the back of his throat. "Ael'iyon, politics is a dangerous business. Maybe you should take the time to write a letter to someone in the hope that they'll help you. And I'd suggest inviting representatives or rulers of other nations to come visit us or something. But I wouldn't know, I'm only your bodyguard." "Kanda, I'll trade you jobs." Another amused sound from Kanda. Ael'iyon looked up, his reading glasses completing the look of student he had with his white collared shirt and ash-colored slacks. The young man's braid was coming undone, but his eyes were bright and his face was determined. He said, "Then maybe you should let me study, Kanda. I'll do the letters and all that later." "Fine, fine. Disregard the bodyguard in the corner."
  10. Please mark this as Xendria. http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=108796 - this thread is the DoE.
  11. Honestly I thought the spren were a pretty cool addition to the world. It gave it a unique feel and flavor, and I get the feeling they're going to play heavily into the magic system of the world as we learn more about it. I enjoyed the spren a lot as well. They were interesting and it got me wondering on how many different kinds are mentioned in the book, so I'm reading it again and keeping a list.
  12. It was Ael'iyon's first press conference on his own. He'd never had to deal with cameras, press, or anything, and he was scared to death of the repercussions of his mother's decision to make his homeland a nation all its own... And on her deathbed, to boot. Now she was dead, he was ruler, and nobody knew... Not until he sat down and told them. - He sat down in front of the cameras, and his bodyguard, Kanda, stood behind him, sunglasses hiding the tall man's eyes, which were without a doubt searching the crowd for any suspicious people. "Uh... Hi?" Ael'iyon said, blushing a bit. "My mother, Aida Nahali, has died. Just after declaring that we're our own nation. I don't know why, or how, but we're our own nation, and I'm the ruler." The room was silent, which just unnerved him, so he continued, "We've declared ourselves free from those who've protected us." He got up and left then, heart pounding in his chest. - Kanda sighed, following the scared Nahali. Ael'iyon was a starry-eyed, distracted youth, and he would need as much help as he could get. A twenty-three year old King? This was a disaster waiting to happen. - The Kingdom of Xendria, from this day forward, is independent. We seek to avoid bloodshed and establish strong ties with other nations. (OOC: I'm designing the flag as we speak. I shall add it when it is complete... I hope this DoE is good enough!)
  13.
Many of the folks here went through the American education system. Don't just blame your education system (even if it really does suck ass); rise above it and educate yourself. You might wanna brush up on your Middle Eastern geography if you plan on RPing there. Welcome to CNRP, btw.
'Kay, thanks!
Ok feel free to DoE.
Thanks.
  14.
Ok Ael, tell me which one you want and you're good to go probably.
I'll go with what Kankou marked on his version of the map, if you don't mind.
  15. So today I realized I only know the geography of North America and Europe and then the rest of the world never seemed to matter. I'm fourteen, almost fifteen, and I am officially feeling like such an idiot for not having taken the time to learn it before. (Thanks, Centurius.) I've spent most of my life focused on English, so I've never had to glance at a map much, and my history classes up until now have been American History only, pretty much. I'm in my first Geography class ever, and I'm doing badly. What should I do to get better at Geography so I can keep up with my class?
  16.
Are you !@#$@#$ kidding me?
I'm in ninth grade, man. I know sort of where Afghanistan is and I know India, but luckily, I learn fast and I'm taking Geography because I'm well-aware I'm lacking in that field of my education. I've got a lot left to learn, and besides, I'd never been interested in the world aside from the United States and Dominican Republic. It's not like I'm saying that I don't know and I don't want to, I'm saying I don't know at this moment.
  17.
-snippy-
/applauds Evangeline Very nice.
  18.
I know, noone asked, but I still give my 2 cents. Kurdistan would be a nice idea. It has a nice culture, a background and as noone can realistically create Turkey, it uses up that space between Sarah and Cent, instead of preventing an Iran/Persia.
Actually, Evangeline, that's a nice idea. I approve of it, and hopefully Triyun does too.
  19.
Thats a huge swath. Which part. And why there out of curoisity?
Whichever part you want to give me. I'm bad at geography. It's because Sarah offered me advice and protection if I had a small region in India or Afghanistan... [s]Sadly, I do not know where these places even are.[/s] Edit: I just suck at geography, alright? So cool your jets, people, because I'm fourteen and never had to know about Asia and the Middle East. Blame the American education system.
  20.
I have caught myself saying infra occasionally.
I do that too, along with saying tech and I have asked before if buying more tech would make the peole happier.
  21. You're in your third period freshman Honors Geography class and you ask about infrastructure purchases when covering politics.
  22.
Where?
Right on the border with Amazonia would be good.
  23.
As you're too small to DoE the whole thing please describe what part of the protectorate you want?
Something about half the size of Iraq. Maybe even smaller, but I'm not sure. Up to you.
  24. I sent you a message. Please read and reply.

  25.
Triyun
'Kay, thanks.
