1. Hell no. You know I live for GATO only. Brief flirtation with GARO but we all fell for that one.
 2. Making an appearance. I'll be back for my 11 year anniversary in 2 months.
 3. My naughtiness notwithstanding, that wasn't my fault, really.
 4. Maybe, maybe not. We ran the numbers and it came up iffy. The real issue was that the Legion and ODN didn't back us up. Had they, we'd have taken the war in a cakewalk.
 5. GATO-1V not GW3. And I didn't want to go nuclear. No one did. Nukes weren't fun in those days. They did the same damage then as they do now basically. Except no one had 50k NS. I had like 25k and I was top 100 at the time.

 7. God, I hope that's not what you know us for. Like seven people in CN got that joke other than the people in GARO.
 8. Mine has been "Better smelling than Sasquatch."
 9. How old do you have to be in this game to get that do you think?
 10. Some of you may know who I am. Some of you may know who Kevlar is. Some of you may not know who either of us is. Kev and I are playing a game to find out if more people know him or me. Please help.
 11.
Minister of Defense Chris_Kaos This make me feel younger.
The last time I held this position was August 2006. So it's been just over six years. Awww yeah.
 12.
Yes. I think you can figure out why I stopped here. Adding caveats isn't making any of you seem any smarter. Continue your charade -- as you were. Leadership change is nowhere near as important as you're making it out to be.
If you honestly think that the days of Ivan Moldavi, Dilber and Moo are equivalent to what the NPO is like now, you're absolutely delusional.
funny, I could say that about this war, interesting how things change depending on what side of the web you're on, eh?
I don't believe I've said anywhere I think that this war is anything less than ridiculous. I fight because it's my job, personal opinions aside. But that doesn't mean I'll let mini-PC and his joke alliance try to take the moral high ground on principles of hypocrisy.
 13.
The league sat in essentially political freeze from the end of GW1 until GW2 happened, I fully agree we weren't a dedicated bloc, but to say we didn't have a chance to ensure Pacifica didn't become the monster lurking under every bed they did is BS.(I will fully agree with you that ODN/Legion royally screwed everything up for all three great wars though), League and WUT existed pre-GW2.
The League was signed on Christmas Eve. The war began directly after New Year's. Despite the League being discussed for a significant amount of time before WUT had been, some of our members dragged our heels, others dropped out, and WUT ended up being signed before the League was formed. There was no time to do anything. Besides, as I said, there was no reason for us to have gone to war. Even GWII wasn't a good reason for war--it was LUE being idiots about FARK, and NAAC/GATO leadership being even bigger idiots for following them down their stupid road in the stupidest way possible. Prior to that, there was nothing that could have happened.
 14.
you know we basically chose to lose GW2, airme has agreed as such.
GWII was a giant cluster$%&@ from start to finish and had no business being fought at all.
These "despicable." people also happen to be your allies.
Hmm. You do realize that the things of which I speak are five or six years in the past, and those alliances which are now allied to us have long since shed the mantle of leadership which led them to be as they were back then? Times change, and you should be intelligent enough to differentiate between what's past and what's present.
 15.
Your beliefs have oft been wrong, almost as often as your actions. Return to your hole.
I'm sorry, do I know you? If we've ever spoken before, your name has long since been forgotten by me. I'm glad to have made an impression upon you though. I guess that shows the relative import we have upon one another.
We had the chance post GW, we sat on our hands and did nothing while Pacifica rebuilt, grew stronger, and made allies, we did nothing, and we got rolled for it, do not pretend we didn't have the chance to keep Pacifica down.
Allow me to educate you. Unlike the other three names mentioned in the OP, the CoaLUEtion was a wartime coalition. Most of us didn't like each other, and our sole purpose was to defend LUE from the ridiculousness of the NPpO's aggression against them. The Legion was last to join and first to leave, and the ODN jumped off the horse along with their then-bosom buddies, as they gave more of a crap about them than they did their other MDP partners (as was shown again in GWII, but that's something else). The GGA was fighting because they hated the NPO more than they hated the rest of us. NAAC was about to vote themselves out of the war. CGS/CDS was about to vote out as well. GATO likewise screamed its head off to get out, since the mission of saving LUE had been accomplished. To rank us among those others is patently absurd. As for having chance post-GW? Are you kidding? In those days we didn't do CB-less wars, and our side didn't manufacture reasons for war. We responded to acts of war, and that's it. The NPO gave us no reason for war, straight up through GWIII. And throw in the fact that there were no blocs in those days, and as I said, the CoaLUEtion was a war time coalition only. Go educate yourself before talking about things of which you know nothing and to which you were not party.
Yeah, you guys really have no idea what you're talking about. C_K has the right of it in this case.
Archon and I rarely see eye to eye, but when we do, you can rest assured we're probably right. Now to address the OP in a more complete way. Xiphosis, you are nothing but a cheaper, less interesting, less competent version of Prodigal Chieftain. If you don't know who he is, go ask around and you'll see what that means I think of you. You're a little man in a little alliance, who cloaks himself in hypocrisy and revisionist history. It's absolutely pathetic, and the fact that you're trying to pump up your moral authority in order to justify what SuperFriends is doing is about as ridiculous as they come. No one is fooled--we think you're the fool, amusing us with your antics in the way a court jester might amuse his betters. And let me give you a little history lesson: The Initiative was the most aggressive bloc in the history of CN. It attacked GATO for reasons wholly unfounded and fabricated, and in doing so, dragged the whole world to war, where no fewer than two sanctioned alliances were disbanded, and several more disbanded as well. How many other alliances have ever had to disband because of war before? I think very few, if any at all. Throw in the fact that the NPO and their cronies of the time used the despicable punishment of viceroyalty to no fewer than nine times over a period of two and a half years. In that time, no other group had ever imposed viceroyalty. Take your revisionist history and stick it up your pathetic attempt at moral authority's ass.
 16.
The CoaLUEtion of old had it
I believe you have no clue of what you speak regarding the events which preceded your existence in this game by a significant amount. Don't talk out of your ass.
 17.
GATO has 108 Members in PM Sparta has 77 Members in PM You are both alliances with the same size member base Basically quit the PM crap, it makes you look stupid. Oh, and R&R, no touching Magicninja, he is mine.
Let's take a looksy here... Sparta, 29/30 of top 30 nations in PM. GATO, 15/30 of top 30 nations in PM. I bet you the preponderance of PM nations in GATO are low down. Oh wait, I don't have to bet you, since I told them to go there. Idiot.
 18.
I am still convinced that if it wasn't for Yoda and that whole "Coven of the Lost" thing, that the first GW would have been GATO and Legion's (and friends) opportunity to cut NPO down to a point where they could not have become so dominant. Sure, they would have rebuilt eventually, but that war ended far too soon.
Yoda and the Coven had nothing to do with that war or its end. The Legion and ODN cut and run on the rest of the CoaLUEtion via a backroom deal with the NPO without telling anyone else they were even negotiating. Then everyone in GATO was yelling at me to end the war, and the NAAC was about to fold as well.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the league's strategy in GWII to focus solely on NPO, which let the rest of the Initiative tackle whoever we wanted. Then in GWIII, you guys focused on everyone but NPO and they just covered and aided whoever needed it. Of course, this could be backward but I am certain both strategies were tried. Unless you're talking about using nukes of course, in which case my bad.
Actually, the idea behind both was to attack everyone except the NPO for some godforsaken reason. There were at least five or six alliances in both wars who were out of it until our side attacked them. I never followed this plan, because for one thing, we didn't have reliable lists of active members, and ended up attacking a lot of inactives. For another, attacking an alliance when they're not currently engaged is beyond stupid, unless you can overwhelm them with numbers immediately--which we could not, since we were about even in NS and overall numbers. It leaves your back end open to being attacked, so then you have 2-3 offensive wars, and 2-3 defensive wars, while most of those in the alliance you're attacking have 2-3 wars total. In GWIII it was especially bad, since the NPO was solely engaged against GATO, who was half the NPO's size at the time. Both wars were planned by the NAAC, despite many in GATO's vehement disagreement, but in GWII the top dogs in GATO were told to follow NAAC's lead by Letum (who was absent the whole war), and in GWIII we were just completely ignored.
 19.
I basically agree with you, but there is one main difference. The NPO at its worst was pretty bad, and was everything you said above, but it was entirely in character. The NPO were out to win this game, and they were going to do it any way possible. However I feel that their record was pretty solid in terms of keeping everything in character. The villains you mention now, the MKs and such, are fully okay with bringing OOC issues into the game as well as utilizing OOC harassment. Folks like Ivan and Dilber, Musso and everyone else, they wouldn't have even considered OOC harassment. That's why a lot of us were okay with being "the bad guys" back then. I was okay with being a "bad guy" when it meant I declared wars on people I didn't like in ways that people didn't like. I am not okay with things like harassment, blatant rules violations, etc. Eventually the NPO started down the path MK eventually went down fully, they just didn't get a chance to fully embrace it before Karma happened. So basically, in my opinion, the NPO was a far worse villain in the realm of IC (as was their intention largely), but MK is a far worse villain in terms of harming the actual gameplay (and people's personal lives).
I had something long winded typed up in reply to this, but it went away, so I'll abbreviate. I agree with you. The NPO villainry was the best thing for that game, and by setting GATO up as the anti-thesis to them, the GATO-NPO rivalry bascally drove the first 12-18 months of this game. The Great War era was undeniably the best this game's had. My problem, however, is that sometimes they took it too far. Take a look at some of the stuff that was done during the viceroyalty. Hell, the viceroyalty itself. A lot of it served no purpose other than to be cruel for cruelty's sake. And they were engaged in some pretty heavy cheating for a long time too, and while I and some others knew about it, due to the unique kind of cheating, I couldn't act on it. MK is worse, though, I'll give you that. I think the whole IC denigration started with LUE to some extent, but they were pretty good at at least trying to make reasons up for the stuff they did. When GOONS 1.0 came in, then \m/ and /b/ and Fark and all those other joke alliances, then it got bad. Now it's at a point where few people care, and trying to be IC-consistent is rare.
Not only was I in GATO when this happened, I was in the government when it happened. I seem to recall his discredit being more the product of his working toward smoothing over relations with NPO/NpO/GOONS in public, and making a big show of it, and then logs were leaked to the effect that he was actually trying to start a war with them (which, I guess, are the forged logs you're talking about). In any case it was obvious horse!@#$ cooked up by NPO, The League was an empty shell, and it had become obvious that NPO's military completely outclassed anyone on our side; The Legion was about to be revealed as the 'Paper Tiger', NAAC had that annoying habit of just throwing themselves head-long in to NpO without any attempt at strategy, and we just couldn't match NPO's stat line, even at 1k nations. In any case, NPO may have been bad back then, but I do not remember them being anywhere near as bad as MK is now.
Actually, he genuinely wanted to work things over with the NPO, but they threw it in his face. That's when he spoke to Sir Galahad and the infamous logs got out, which were real, but taken wholly out of context and misconstrued for NPO's purposes. The fake logs were those of SDRD. He also posted something on the GATO forums expressing that he'd had enough, and he was going to actively work against them moving forward. Sigh, the League. It had such promise. You're bang on about the NAAC and Legion, although I still genuinely feel like GWIII was winnable. But the plan that the Legion and NAAC came up with was pretty much the worst plan I'd ever heard of, or it would be, if it hadn't been the exact same plan the NAAC used in GWII. AlmightyGrub really, really f-ed the dog on that one, and because VL Empire (who was actually a good, competent battlefield commander) was Prime Minister of Legion at the time, the Legion's MoD just dumbly nodded and did whatever the NAAC wanted, despite GATO being pummeled and screaming at them that they were doing the wrong thing. And we all know what happened then.
