Eriso's Achievements

Newbie (1/14)

 1. Ecerian and Silverian forces clashed in the first two offensives of the war today, gunfire and explosions piercing the usual tranquility of the nation of Silver. Dictator and self-proclaimed "Warlord" Eriso refused to comment, however, high-ranking army officials have confirmed that the armed dispute is over a trade offer which soon turned very sour. The fighting began when Ecerian soldiers, all newly equipped with AK-47s, PKM machineguns, SVD dragunov rifles and RPGs, arrived under the cover of darkness. Reportedly, several battalions of Ecerian infantry soldiers spread out and began advancing into the nation of Silver, systematically taking control of towns and villages, driving a 'wedge' in between the military forces of Silver in the process. It was only once the Ecerian soldiers advanced upon a military outpost did they meet any resistance. And a fierce resistance it was. Ecerian soldiers, with the element of surprise, had managed to surround the outpost during the fighting, hammering it with bullets, mortars and RPGs. None-the-less, despite the overwhelming numerical disadvantage, Silverian soldiers repelled the attack with 17 Silverian and 58 Ecerian soldiers reported killed in action. "It was a massacre; after the first firefight alone, a quarter of my soldiers were dead or wounded, and I heard other squads had been hit much harder," one Ecerian officer reported under the condition that he remain anonymous as he and his soldiers were under strict orders not to give information to the press. "My squad was maybe, 200, 300 metres away... we were on higher elevation, but I couldn't see any movement in the base... they were definitely shooting back at us though, putting up the good fight. Though we got some new equipment recently, it's still inadequate; Silverian soldiers are better equipped than my grunts, to the point that we were scavenging weapons from dead Silverian soldiers... and they better trained, too. My soldiers were the most undisciplined grunts I've ever seen; just sprayed the sky with bullets, and the moment things got hot they wanted to run away. Bloody greenhorns if I'd ever seen one, haven't even had any prior combat experience, I'm told. Some of them were as young as 14 years old. Who is in charge of this operation, anyway?" The aforementioned officer was found dead shortly afterwards with a gunshot wound to the back of the head, though the nature of his death remains unclear. As the fighting momentarily died down, both sides agreed to a temporary cease fire as medical personnel retrieved the dead and tended to the wounded. It wasn't long before bullets were crackling through the air again, however; the second offensive had begun. What exactly occurred remains unconfirmed, however Silverian military commanders accuse the Ecerian military of taking advantage of the ceasefire to move their forces to a more advantageous position closer to the military outpost, where it was then over-run after several more hours of heavy fighting. Ecerian military commanders denied this accusations, claiming that Silverian soldiers had opened fire on medics as they tried to retrieve their fallen, and the Ecerian soldiers had merely returned fire in self-defense. Either way, no survivors from the military base were reported; equipment was looted and smoke billowed into the air as the victorious Ecerian soldiers fired rockets into the base, effectively demolishing it. Afterwards, the invading forces continued on with their advance deep into Silverian territory. Surrounded and separated, the Silverian military fell into disarray. By the end of the second offensive, the majority of the Silverian army was reported as dead or missing in action, however, not without a great cost; 110 more Ecerian soldiers had fallen in the second offensive, bringing the total dead up to 168, thereby suffering heavier casualties but triumphing through sheer numbers alone. "I had a bad feeling about this op from the start," an Ecerian soldier said, referring to the day's fighting, "our men and women kept falling, yet we were ordered to keep on going, to keep on advancing, no matter what the cost is... morale is starting to get low... we're been used as cannon fodder out here." None-the-less, with the Silverian military crippled and the nation of Silver now embroiled in anarchy and chaos, Ecerian soldiers had successfully over-run the nation of Silver. 2. (OOC note: I'm going to be writing about in-game events regarding my nation now and then, strictly for my own personal enjoyment; I'm not necessarily looking for replies, but if anyone wishes to respond or start up some RP, I'm always fine with that) Rioting and wide-spread dissent arose yesterday in the young, newly-established nation of Ecera. Beginning in Withmore City, it soon began spreading to neighbouring villages and camps before local police forces, with the aid of the military, managed to quell the rebellion. Withmore City is the capital of Ecera, although contrary to what its name suggests, Withmore is in fact not a city, and by most standards not considered anything more than a town. None-the-less, Withmore alone covers most of Ecera's land mass (which is only a meager 12 miles in diameter) and consists of mostly mudbrick houses, tents and straw huts. Dotting the landscape around Withmore City are several villages and camps, and the landscape is dominated by jungles and forests. Rag-tag soldiers toting an assortment of weaponry, from AK-47s and PKM machineguns to machetes and Lee-Enfield bolt-action rifles, had set up a perimeter around Withmore City, restricting entry to journalists and reporters. However, gunfire was heard ringing out all day, and citizens fleeing from the crack down on dissenters cited many different reasons for the rioting. The mostly cited reason for the rebellion however, was the recently introduced policy of mandated military service for all citizens, male or female, starting at the age of 13. "[Soldiers] just kicked in my front and back door to my house as my family was sitting down for dinner," a sobbing woman who had fled the crack down told reporters, "then they told me if I didn't lay down [on the ground] with my hands on my head, they would kill my husband... but when I laid down, they shot him anyway, then killed my children right in front of me..." Several such reports have been received from fleeing citizens, however they all remain unconfirmed. When questioned about the action of his military, Eriso, the dictator of Ecera and self-proclaimed "Warlord", vehemently denied accusations that he had given his soldiers specific orders to use brutality and violence to subdue the nation's population: "I do not endorse unwarranted cruelty in any shape or form. The citizens who have been wounded or imprisoned during the fighting are merely facing the consequences for their violent and unlawful dissension. It is true that I intend to introduce conscription, however it has been made clear that any citizens who do not even have the decency to desire to fight for their country and their religion, may leave and revoke their citizenship. The choice is theirs: they can stay and fight for their beloved country, or they can get out." However, perhaps surprisingly, many citizens seemed to approve of the Ecerian military's actions. "It's about bloody time," one man was quoted as saying. "I'm sick of those whiners, enjoying Warlord Eriso's generosity, but when it comes to defending their own country and religion, they whine, they dodge the draft, they make up excuses. They're just getting what they deserve." This somewhat popular opinion could possibly be attributed to the culture of patriotism and religiosity which had been carefully cultivated over the years, combined with the mentality of "fight or get out", weeding the majority of the anti-conscription crowd out of the nation. None-the-less, one can't help but wonder; what is the purpose of the draft and increased mobilisation of the nation's military recently? Rumours of increased tension with other nations abound, however remain unconfirmed.
