  1. That's all relative to the number of troops above the max level you have, or likewise, under.
  2. Lol, I try and use decent grammar when I post/say stuff. Just helps build credibility, and I kind of need that if I ever want to suggest something >.>;;; Lolz
  3. The idea of this system is to increase the over all number of improvements, hopefully to a point where a large nation CANNOT sustain every improvement. The reason the modifier is at X+1 as the tiers increase is so that as the X and X-1 improvements get destroyed, they still gain a benefit. And...I actually had this massively large post that I was working on, but it got deleted and I'm not really up to rewriting it... Perhaps when I get around to it, I will. And 2, I've put some relatively decent thought into this, not because I don't have a life, and not because I'm dedicated, and not even because I'm bored... It's mostly because I just want to see more improvements lol... And in correspondence to the arguments I've seen (for and against more improvements), I just designed a method that SHOULD compromise both sides... I think it would be cool anyways. edit... grammar...
  4. There would be no point in making something useless as you grow...That kind of defeats the purpose of the game...Some what. Basically, (I suggested something similar to this a LONG time ago in one of the improvement discussions) the best thing to do would be to make different types of improvements, and among those types, different tiers. As you can assume, there are 3 major aspects to your nation: Infrastructure, Technology, and Military...Those will be our 3 types, each of which will be governed by a factor somewhat generated there in. For example, infrastructure primarily deals with (but is not limited to) economic improvements (happiness, income+, and income %+). With this clearly defined, it is possible to create different levels (tiers) of increasing potency relative to the level of infrastructure... So basically something like this...Nations above X level of infrastructure can purchase certain improvements of Y potency (level of the improvement, like if it's 1 happiness, 2 happiness, or 3 happiness, for example), whereas nations with level of X+1000 (1000 being an arbitrary amount of infrastructure, tiers increasing in sets of 1000-2000 make the most sense to me) can by a higher level improvement, such as Y+1 happiness or something. Now, this idea somewhat incorporates the fact that some improvements (lower level ones) will grow to be useless, assuming admin creates enough improvements per tier per category. This set up makes it very simple to add plenty of improvements without making nations too powerful as they grow (it basically adds and upper and lower bound of when you can purchase improvements). More improvements allows more customization and thus more dynamic structures from nation to nation. Just to clarify, the example I ran through was only relative to economic/infrastructure related factors. Military and Tech improvements can be added just as easily, in regards to a certain level of military strength and technological strength (nations above X level of NS with Y number of troops (or % of NS even, but that wouldn't work out too well) can purchase Z improvements, and likewise for tech). BTW, I'll make a suggestion thread regarding this in more detail soon...I really would like to see those 100+ empty improvement slots I have sitting around go to some use. Also, since 100 more improvements+ may seem ridiculously large, another purchasing qualifier could be implemented, where at higher tiers more people are required to sustain a particular improvement, just to further prevent too much unbalance between little and big nations.
  5. Well, I'm just waiting for admin to -add- resources...When/If (I highly doubt it due to the reason I'm about to propose) he does do that, he would have to allow the option of changing everybody else's base resource (for fear of quitting the game...I definitely would if new resources were added and I was left gimp), randomly, more or less. Nevertheless, I highly doubt a change in base resources will be coming around anytime soon... If anything, I could see a wonder that -MIGHT- act as another harbor, but besides that, changing base resources isn't a really feasible option...They're native for a reason (and in lieu of argument, native does not mean I'm contradicting the fact that new resources shouldn't be allowed to already developed nations, since they won't be -native- in that case... It's just that we didn't have the -random- chance of getting the new resources, etc. etc.).
  6. Grats and...I really should consider resource swapping again...I pay close to 4,000,000 per 10 with my current resources ~_~
  7. *IllidansWrath anxiously waits for Paltan or someone to buy SDC today...
  8. Lol, that makes one of us so far...I'll have to wait till my next wonder to get it... Hopefully by then I'll be closer to the 5k tech level so I can take full benefit from the wonder.
  9. Lol, haven't we already had several of those? >.>;;;
  10. Probably because they 1) couldn't afford it, 2) didn't have the infra requirement, and 3) probably had their wonder buying day today and didn't want to waste any days.
  11. Lol, I'm actually missing a few still. The notable one is the War Monument improvement (+4 Happiness). I'll probably purchase that, since it costs 27 million and will only take 2-3 days to save for rather than 2 weeks and I can focus on infra.
  12. ^ this. The longer you delay collecting taxes, the more you make. Since admin boosted the cost of Labor Camps, Factories, and Banks (quite some time ago), it made improvement swapping a less favorable choice for younger nations, especially since delaying collection is directly correlated with a delay in infra purchases, which can stunt a nations growth. Basically, depending on your improvement setting, it probably isn't worth improving swapping till a decent range in infra, I haven't done the math, but I'm sure someone can tell you when Infra swapping will be most beneficial to your nation regarding the increased improvement purchase costs...
  13. Amen, I agree with Dac, however...Changes will need to be made if admin expects larger nations to keep purchasing infra... The best option, over all, would be to resource swap, but that is just a pain in the $@!... I tried for several months (infra purchase to income, I skipped the lower bills rotation~_~) and it's really a nuisance. I usually ended up being locked out of a resource or had to pay ~3 mil for a new one and ended up making the rotation worthless. If you have a good ring of friends with a large variation of resources, more power to ya. You can also force the ring to work in conjunction with each (collect taxes, pay bills, buy wonders, and buy infra at different times) and have a great rotation that benefits everyone, but that would require probably close to 30 people...and massive organization, good luck.
  14. Haha, my new wonder purchase date is in like ~2 weeks and I still need 1k infra for the SDC thing. I probably won't make it in time for 1k infra and 150mil, so debating on whether I should delay buying a wonder or buy a lower one and then wait a month. ; ; ~lol just did the math, it'd take me ~570mil to do all that...Based on my net, it would take ~49 days. XD
  15. @_@;; Ok, well thanks. XD I didn't really see the affluent population change...Fine jewelry is still kind of crap. Either way, it's not worth it. Relative to the set I have now, I'd need to obtain all of: Coal, Gold, Gems, and Wine to get, which would mean sacrificing Fast Food (no thanks), Beer (no thanks) or Iron and Fish and 2 resources out of either of those two bonuses, definitely a no thanks. I'm pretty much sure that the 5% population doesn't compensate the losses, not to mention the loss of some great base resources. I personally think that tweaking the resources isn't what needs doing, but more changes in the improvements/wonders to implement the changes. I mean, for a nation with 10k+ Infra, imagine the improvement slots being wasted... Like, for me, this is what I see whenever I check out the improvements page: Improvements Purchased 58 Improvement Slots Available 104 Yeah, ok...I could buy Guerrilla Camps, Border Walls, and Barracks, but they definitely aren't productive in terms of economics. There has to be some improvements that could be created to 'balance' the game without 'making larger nations' too powerful...Wonders are great and all, but I think admin should consider more than just that aspect.
  16. Events have a random chance of being generated each day...Since most newer nations are now familiar with the 'improvement swapping' cycle, the reduce their number of collections, thus reducing the chance of actually generating an event...To be honest, I haven't had an even in ~200 or so days now, but in that many days, I've only collected taxes maybe at most 15 times.
  17. Yes And also, on the note regarding Furs and Lead...I'm a 13k infra nation with Furs...And Silver............................. So either way, we still exist, it's just more or less, one of the new wonders is pissing me off because I have these resources...Admin gave Uranium a huge benefit with several updates and with this new improvement, it will most likely be on of the best resources and I can't get it without sacrificing at least 4 happiness... So basically, I'll gain what a lose, maybe gain a bit more if I buy nukes or something (to compensate the upkeep I would have had to pay without uranium). No matter, I do agree that some benefit should be given to nations with slightly less (and disabled) resources rather than just boosting those of already decent status.
  18. I like the high infra requirements. It gives larger nations something to aim for, and gives us priority over smaller nations. >
  19. The same thing happened to me. I typically collect ~10 mil a day, now I'm collecting just over 5 mil (with the same bills of 4 mil). I hit my 5th day of peace mode, but according to the information provided, I should lose 5 happiness = $10. $10*2.076=$20.76, at 30% tax = $6.23. at 90k Citizens, $6.23*90k = 560500.7625. I should lose 560k, not 5 mil. Please provide some sort of explanation as to why this is. In the midst of war, it's difficult to make decisions on what to do as a banking nation.
