  1. Yeah, better stick to AAs with no treaties. Sparta wouldn't want to surrender to an immediate past treaty partner 5 days after its anniversary.
  2. I for one am glad that this disgrace will be recorded right here forever. Happy anniversary, Sparta.
  3. And a month ago Desconistan had just $800,000,000 on hand. Wonder where this little fiasco has left him now.
  4. Speaking of creepy, if I had given you my address when you asked for it, you could come and check your suspicions. A broken democracy has left you as the hetman at ODN for almost the entirety of the past 3 years, when/if I say "OsRavan" I am either giving the rest of the alliance the benefit of the doubt that it's just you, or I am giving you the credit and position in my speaking that ODN's electorate has given you. Don't like it? Retire.
  5. Os just gets frustrated when things aren't going his way and his standard is ::chuckle:: "the OWF sucks". But I don't see him, or ODN under his 1000-year reign, doing anything to fix it or enact their own vision.
  6. Hold steady, Mogar, DT and DS will be in here to defend your right to tech deal with anyone anytime without interference or repercussions in no time flat!
  7. So basically the reason alliances have allied with DBDC and will drop them once the threat is over or thrill is gone. But since CT did it as a single nation he's a slime ball while you're politically-savvy. Spare me. I have no idea about CT's past or character but I've gleaned enough to know he doesn't sound any different from any alliance, and once you get to the "god" tier, a nation can pretty much act as an alliance.
  8. Just noticed this was posted on the 6th anniversary of the 5th episode of TWiP and a month after the 6th anniversary of the first edition (yee :gag: , we didn't even have a graphics department!) Close enough Hail Mondays!
  9. Oh, they're sadistic. ODN didn't just "come in" on losing wars, they're allied to a sphere that lost and their FA hopes haven't panned out the way they were supposed to. In one losing war they were given guarantees before the war of what would happen. Oh, God, man, thanks but no thanks. I did a CN radio show for a couple months and it was Hell. In some cases this is paradigms talking past each other, in others it's also a mix of Baghdad Bobism. No one thinks WTF is going to "win" in the sense of DBDC surrendering, but you've got their pals out here shouting "WTF is losing!" as if that matters. Caliph, Berbers, whoever knows that there is not going to be a standard win to this war, and they know we know that, but they need to frame it within the way that looks best for them. Yeah, DBDC is winning. And if this is what winning this war looks like I'm glad to be on the sidelines. Oh, make no mistake, 4 or 400, the number of wars makes no difference. 4 is clearly enough ;) This is such bad pap. It's so dead. It ignores reality. No one hates DBDC because they just hate DBDC, no one hates DBDC because they need to hate them or else, what, they disappear or melt? DBDC has enemies because they've actively sought to make them, just like MK had enemies because they actively sought to make them. It's not even original, MK did the whole meta-evil thing trying their damnedest to be as ebil as possible to create a new, active, perpetual Spring world, and in the end what they were were a bunch of guys that never could engineer what came to NPO naturally. If, if, DBDC has this existential attitude as you're asserting, then it's kind of sad. It's been done. Nothing DBDC does is novel. How stupid to say that WTF needs DBDC or else they'd just be useless stats? That's what WTF already is, it's what they already were before DBDC ever existed, it's all they want to be. This is so lazy, it's insulting. It's why quotation is so often not a serviceable substitute for wit. One of DBDC's fault lines has always been its reliance on simplistic, feel-good, hackneyed friends-based politics. "Once a member always a member" "No man left behind" "to death for friends" "I love you, you love me, we're a happy family" DBDC cannot both draw members from all over the AA landscape and attack all over the landscape, eventually, they will have to decide which friends matter most just like every other sandbox virtues alliance has, bad blood rises, and hey, here we are.
  10. I think the anti-DBDC sentiment has overwhelmed this nuance. I know you're being funny, but it's true. This is not a thread about DBDC. What makes ODN look so stupid here are a few things: The outright lies about ODN's character. I often wonder if they believe what they're saying, but it is clear that Peaches like his predecessor OsRavan has settled on deliberate doublespeak. Its creepy. DBDC, as far as anyone knows and I don't post anything I don't know because I dislike apologies and retractions (though I'm not infallible), has not asked ODN to do this. I have no evidwnce that DBDC prompted this, I don't say they did. Everyone says DBDC is wrecking WTF, so why has ODN gone out on a limb for noob cake or DBDC? The cavalry is not coming. Garion says nay, STA says fat chance, GATO says hell no. Theres no 1000-nation backup, and ODN itself is too soon out of war to take on even a war-weary WTF. Sure, sure, "bucovina wasn't official and he shot off his mouth," but Shinnra made clear enough threats, too. Why is ODN trying (miserably) to white knight an alliance that says it doesnt need help or want help? Browse the DBDC embassy: DBDC is clear that they expected WTF to fight longterm, and this war has not even been that long. Peaches admonished me to look at the situation, and honestly I admit stats bore and confuse me, so I had no idea WTF has only 4 wars. But what does Peaches think he was proving? It doesn't matter. ODN is eating shit over 4 wars? That makes it that much more hilarious from this side of the desk! I have plenty to day about DBDC, but Caladin and others have aptly cut through the crap: ODN apparently decided to prove what good allies and negotiators they are without consulting with DBDC and now they both look as stupid as ODN is. They are condescending and impotent in this expedition, and they might even start a serious war, and that is the story. This is one treaty that has reached diminishing returns.
  11. Youre hired; how fast can you reroll?
  12. Good morning my dear Coco. Here at This Week in Productions we have a time honored process. We find a story, find the hook, work it over while mining and reviewing the shots, and then write it with a brandy in one hand and mouse in the other. Once there's a hook there's really no going back or asking for blessings. The question here was whether it would be appropriate to interject into ODN's discussions with WTF, and the conclusion we drew was that this is already a public conversation between CNtel and the open nature of the situation and the conversation should be held apart from the diplomacy.
  13. Here it is, only took 11 pages. "We" we we we. weee weeee weeeee all the way home. DBDC cannot end the war without WTF's consent, no. You can buy up out of their range, or you can call ODN to make things ugly for WTF and let ODNinstas fight a war you can't end, but to answer your question in the simplest terms you can't end the war without WTF's consent. Do I think ODN and DBDC are going to "continue wathcing Noob eat [staggers]" No, not I. Raiders are the same, and as you pointed out I'm old enough to know it: All pomp and parades til you bite the wrong target, then it's GO GO GODZILLA: Sanctions, PZI, allies dragged/called in. You're hamstrung like every other dumbass raider who ever picked the wrong guy in the past and you're not any different than they ever were. It's funny-ha-ha, I mean really entertaining. Always was. Do I think ODN and its allies care what the NSOs, MI6s, and Polars think? Sure do, because they're always looking for new "friends" and they've gotta come from somewhere. So it's save your sorry asses or look good not, and so far they're not doing either. DBDC offers its allies nothing. The 5 or less "god tier" nations in any given alliance are utterly irrelevant to any war. You don't bring anything to the table except social currency. The wars your antics threaten are carried solely on the backs of your allies' mid and low tiers with no return from DBDC, and your social currency is losing value fast.
  14. I imagine you're right, back when we had to deal with alliances of 1,000 nations rather than 1,000 allied nations, and they all had 6 MADPs and 3 blocs instead of 12 ODOAPs, and just writing an essay was enough for PZI. When farting was a gamble and there wasn't any Skype crew to make OOC arrangements. Like I said, I'm perfectly comfortable with my past, present, and future. This thread isn't about me, which is precisely why you need to make it about me. You're welcome for indulging you for a moment, but after this post you're going to have to try something else. Wheedle CT again.
  15. Did you even— You're a chill guy, but this is so dumb as to shock. This war is less than 2 months old and it's DBDC's ally trying to whiteknight and shorten it with shrill cries of "this is eternal war!" Right. Polaris has, what, 2 or 3 or are we on 4 now? NAPs with DBDC last as long as the most triggerhappy bird can wait before blowing it. I almost accidentally used the "with Schattenmann and Yawoo" banner. Let's do it; it's the obvious follow-up. And how!!!!!! Haha. My essays have made impacts as big and longer-lasting than any $%&@ed up DBDC raids, and the folks that matter know it. Sup, Xiph? I was glad to see you on WTF's forum. Hope you're having a nice week.
  16. To what end? WTF is isolationist, there is no "future" to build toward. There's no next war to prepare for. This is the war, now they fight til they're done. This is all circular. No one but DBDC is going to attack WTF. No one but DBDC and its allies benefits from WTF letting them go. Then what, they rebuild annnnnd DBDC attacks them again. Why bother? WTF rebuilds to face the same enemy who has also rebuilt. These admonishments to WTF to stop the war aren't based in any kind of logic except selfish needs.
  17. This late-breaking development brings to 837—down from 1000—the number of nations ODN will bring to take down WTF.
  18. Oh boy, oƃ ǝʍ ǝɹǝɥ Foreshadowing No, it absolutely is not even close to being eternal war. Noob Cake has joined DBDC for a long time, we know how DBDC operates, he knows how DBDC operates. DBDC has made it very clear they do not operate in the same paradigm that we do, and part of that is the rejection of the traditional (since you're suddenly interested in customs) bounds of alliance affiliation. Noob Cake is not trying to surrender, he is trying to leave this war, restock, and begin raiding the upper tier with impunity again. This very nation in particular as a member of DBDC has already done this over and over. He is not a victim, he is following SOP right now. DBDC's AA-switching is designed to cause this exact situation, to create a backdoor to escalating any raid gone bad into a full-scale war with multiple alliances rather than just DBDC. And whaddayaknow, here comes ODN doing exactly what they're supposed to do, cognizant or unwitting, a pawn either way. I don't disagree with your assertion about the reaction if the situation were reversed, but your reasoning is a joke. DBDC is the aggressive party here, there is no moral equivalency to be made by switching the parties. If DBDC refused to let a WTF member surrender, they would be holding that nation in an indefinite state of war that DBDC started, you moron. It's true; allies of DBDC turn a blind eye to this sort of thing, or jump to support it like ODN. Said the man who went to war against NPO et. al. on a CB of "need to remove their ability to fight." Seriously, OsRavan, when are you going to learn that we know who you are? Why would it be a valid CB but not a valid reason to deny peace? And in the wars you declared on nothing but "need to remove their ability to fight" you, you personally, stood by reps totaling $1 Billion. That's what they've done. A cheat always feels he is being cheated, a crook always feels others are robbing him. OsRavan today, and ODN in its threats against WTF and lies about its character, represent the height of Orwellian doublespeak, and so OsRavan accuses every genuine person around him of also being a fork-tongued murderer. He is backwards.
  19. It's a fine balance. I think that movers-shakers should definitely get over to www.worldtaskforce.com but I also realize that not everyone who should know about this (the 1000 nations ODN is banking on) can go over and be masked. It was an internal debate here at This Week in Productions as to whether we should even interject into the neutral ecosystem because we have a real affinity and respect for neutral/isolationists as real gamblers and the most free, most sovereign entities. In the end, this is a story that needs to be told, and we are journalists.
  20. I was afraid of making it too long, and wanted to get all 3 ODN reps in, but you're right. I'll edit it in.
