  1. Signed for Italy, il Duce Benito Mussolini
  2. If Zoot and Mogar are willing, does this mean we should freeze the crisis?
  3. [PRIVATE] Pietro Badoglio paced in front of the Count, who had only hours prior return from a stressful talk with Egypt. Benito Mussolini say by his son-in-law's side, trying in his ill mind to comprehend the situation. Count Ciano slammed his fist in the desk. "You tell me while I'm gone YOU allowed out military yo invade French territory during a lapse of parliament? Are you mad? Were you hoping to see our nation become a worldwide pariah! And you tell me Austria-Hungary, France AND Great Britain intend to attack us within the next twelve hours? What in God's name are we going to do?" The General sighed. "Sir, I'm afraid to inform you we stand poised to lose in armed conflict with the coalition. Our troops are greatly outnumbered and outtrained. We have few established defensive structures in the North, and out men are stretched far too thin. While we intend to mobilize and and fling the majority of our army into the North for a, at best, repeat of the Great War, unless we can reach far more sufficient levels of expertise in mobilization we will be unable to fullfill this goal. At current rates, only half of troops expected to arrive will arrive on time. Critical resources are caught up in buruecratic sludge, with thousands of barrels of petroleoum sitting stuck in Florence warehouses. If the French and Austrians attack soon, our lines will shatter on impact. They will reach Rome within 24 hours. An invasion from the sea could cause that time frame to drop even further. They could occupy the whole of Italy within a month. If we somehow fix our mobilization problems, our only hope would be to bottleneck the enemy. We would be forced to lose our colonies, and perhaps Sardinia and Sicily. We could establish a static line of defense that will engage the enemy with attrition warfare until their weak populaces demand withdrawal. Orders have been given to halt excursions into Tunisia; however, the Souths Calvary Platoon has no telephone, radio or telegraph. We have sent a message by horseback but if the couriers don't reach them in time, they could launch their assault on Tunisia. It'd only be a couple hundred men on horseback, but France would take it as a sign of war. If we withdraw our claim on Tunisia, we will look weak in the eyes of the world, populace and military. I fear a coup." The Count buried his face into his hands. "There's nothing else we can do. We must pull back." The General nodded. "I'll tell the presses momentarily, you and the Duce rest." Badogolio left the room, strutting down the hallway with determination. He knew what must be done.
  4. Hey, I'm okay with all of this. I'm not gonna throw a hissy fit. If its how Mogar wants to RP, its how we'll RP.

  6. Italy requests assurance by the French government that the Tunisian territory will remain stable.
  7. Italy cannot risk another crisis on our borders. If France can pledge a joint rule of Tunisia to ensure our security we will end our operation. Until then our troops will be ordered to halt. Italy urges France and A-H to commit to talks. We cannot withdraw at this time. [CLASSIFIED] 8 divisions of 28,000 men, 300 artillery guns and 3000 horses are being organized along the Fiume Adige border. 200 bombers and 1200 fighters flew the air bases along the Northern edge of the country. A further 300,000 men, 1800 artillery, and 1200 L3/35s have been deployed to the Po River. They are expected to arrive in four days, and organize in twelve. Already, however, the transportation of troops was crippled by bureaucracy, leaving railroads packed and roads clogged.
  8. The Count grinned. "It seems a great option for now. If you have a treaty drafted, I'll sign it."
  9. Italy welcomes the return of a friendly France but cautions due to the lapse in government, we will not allow a French presence in Tunisia. We offer the French free access to any other if their former colonies.
  10. Italy refuses to recognize this puppet state of Mexico.
  11. [CLASSIFIED] The first reorganized Italian division was deployed to the border of Tripoli and Tunisia. It consisted of 28,000 men, 6,000 of which are officers, 400 L3/35 Tankettes, 400 Cannone da 90/53 and 1500 trucks and cars. A support division was being established in Tripoli, where 100 M2 and 1200 Obice da 149/19 modello 37, along with 1200 horses and 8,000 crew. The First Division would be alerted to cross the Tunisian border in 48 hours. Its main goals was to seize several border posts, towns and villages. Meanwhile, the colonial forces in Djibouti launched a campaign of domination. They seized trading posts, towns and villages and waved the Italian flag. It did not result in total conquest, but it did cripple any hopes of independence from the colonial administration. Over 1200 tribesmen and civilians were killed, and 200 Italian soldiers and 130 horses suffered a similar fate. The majority of horses and soldiers killed were suffered in an assault on a tribal warrior post on the Djibouti plains, when the tribesmen, armed with several early 1900 French machine guns (probably from materials left over from the former French colonial administration), ambushed and mowed down a platoon of charging calvary. [PRIVATE TO SPAIN AND EGYPT] The Italian government informs your nations we are crossing into the Tunisian territory in 48 hours and intends to seize and formally annex the territories of our homelands. We will not further annex other areas apart from our sphere Djibouti. However, if crisis need be, we will not hesitate to secure the Algerian coast for a stable protection for European trading in the Mediterranean. - Italian ambassadors to Spain and Egypt.

  15. "Again the German people have been betrayed by the cowardly old guard aristocracy. It is time they rise to the call of the New Right." - Count Ciano, Italian Foreign Minister and Head of State
  16. The Italian Social Republic strongly condemns the rise of communism in Latin America and calls on the American nations to contain this menace to peace. We announce an embargo on the Communion and call ln the world to join us.
  17. Count Ciano signed. He stood from the table, looking accomplished. "Now, who ever said nothing would come out of these talks?"
  18. Speaking of things to respond to... :P
  19. The movement of soldiers to the border of our colony alarms the Italian government. We ask the French to accept a forty mile demilitarized zone on their side of the border.
  20. "The Italian government declares its neutrality in this matter and urges both sides to come to a diplomatic solution." - Count Ciano Private to Spain: The Spanish have the full support of the Italians in the Cuban Crisis. We only urge against any antagonizing actions committed by your forces.
  21. All of Eritrea and Djibouti are Italian protectorates that are in the process of annexation http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awbari_Governorate is also being RP'd as a protectorate under annexation but I probably need more posts for land that size, right?
  22. [CLASSIFIED] [Djibouti] Italian troops engaged in intense close quarters combat following an ambush by tribesmen on a patrol near the beachhead. Several Italian troops were killed and fourteen were captured. Italian Major Tony Buttari sent his troops in pursuit. Italian calvary units captured a village and executed several men suspectsd of participating in the ambush. The calvary then engaged in a brief firefight with tribal soldiers, routing the natives and slaughtering them as they fled. (2/5) [Libya] 5000 Italian soldiers dispatched from Tripoli would soon arrive in the South Libyan desert. A message would be dispatched by the Governor General in Tripoli to the French and Egyptian embassies. It stated the move was a non-aggressive one made to secure the southern border of the Libyan colony, and that following the move, no further actions would be made by Italian forces in Africa. The natives and occupying troops seem to be enjoying relatively amicable relations, though there is a general distrust in the air between the local militias and Italian soldiers. A headquarters was established in Ubari. (1/5) OoC: The territory of the former Awbari Governorate is what I'm occupying.
  23. The Count grinned. "I'll be happy to sign. I hope this is but a shaky start to a strong friendship."
  24. If tech costs 30 points a level and all you need is a squadron of high techplanes, which would cost 4, itd be far cheaper. It builds a whole new strategic edge to the RP. If you lose the planes, theyre gone; you cant replace planes you dont have the tech to build. It comes down to, do I want to buy high tech items from someone else or do I want to spend the extra points and make them myself?
