1. Alright, at this point I think we can conclude that the assessment of "hot-headed possibly slightly racist if not just deluded/dumb" is rather accurate.
2. It's going to get really hot and sweaty in that tank, isn't it? I mean, it's a metal box in a desert, without air conditioning. Of course that's what I meant.
3. Well, when signing up to the TE alliance, everyone was asked whether they intended to build up and fight or not. Most, like me, thought it'd just be a hassle to go through those motions and said no. Based on the original numbers of people intending to actually fight, I think the stats show it looking at least somewhat equal, excepting for a lot more nukes on our side. Whether that method of assessing whether it was a down-declare or not is valid is another topic, but it wasn't intended to be a down-declare. You'll notice that those active nations largely came only after other AAs attacked Eurasia. I think the general pattern of thought was that just another war in TE isn't particularly exciting and not worth being active over, but then the absurd and hilarious rhetoric in those DoW threads showed that it could be amusing to play just to spite the outraged drama crowds. Talk of EZI and other such puerile rhetoric makes for good recruitment material on the home front. As for SE business, well, anyone who comes with that accusation probably just isn't aware of the state of Polar-Pacific relations in SE. There's absolutely no grudge or desire to roll Polar on Pacifica's behalf in SE, so there just isn't any SE business to carry over into TE.
4. The level of drama and raving and ranting in this thread, and the quoted post in particular, is way too high. I thought TE was supposed to be about wars without the endless politicking of SE, and yet here we see you trying to pull stunts that no one with more than a months experience would think acceptable in SE. Are you sure you have any ground to stand on when you condemn others for being foolish? Also, I'm happy to inform you that I'd rather delete my nation, leave, and never come back than betray my alliance at the behest of a pompous bag of hot air like you.
5. Yeah, that was the old "highest score an alliance has ever had".
6. Congratulations on your new treaty. Well, that explains why they'd sign you, then.
7. Here's some more numbers on tech movements over the last 30 days, according to the stats I've gathered. If you want some different cadre, grouping, or some percentage, just ask. It takes just a couple of seconds for me to calculate it. A total of 17281 slots of 100 tech were received Of these, 16559 were received among top-75 AAs Of these, 15252 among top-50 AAs Of these, 12229 among top-25 AAs Of these, 8563 among top-10 AAs Of these, 3100 by Pacifica A total of 941 slots of tech were accepted by neutral AAs A total of 8034 slots of tech were accepted by Pacifica or alliances allied to her From this, we can see that NPO itself represented nearly a fifth (19.82%) of tech received among non-neutral AAs in the top-75. If you add in NPO's allies, a majority (51.3%) of tech accepted in this grouping was accepted by them. I'm not entirely displeased by these numbers. (Yes, I spent a lot of time figuring out how to count to make it reach a majority. All those numbers of 48% or around that were... less satisfying.)
8. In addition to what others have said, I'll note that given our amount of treaties, it isn't really that much of a stretch that the normal state of affairs is to have a treaty.
9. Oh, don't challenge him, Rey. He had time to think of jokes while we were busy fighting last war. In fact, they were probably too busy writing jokes about us to hear their allies.
10. You'll have to start that rebuild you spoke of first. ;)
11. Impressive, VE. Truly impressive. *theatre whisper* Is VE haunted by long-gone ghosts being active or something?
12. The main lesson I draw from this event is that Methrage apparently managed to get a lot more members than he reasonably ought to be able to get. I guess people aren't reasonable.
13. Seems to be dying, yes. I guess it has turned into a sporadic statistics post thread, rather than a daily sort of thing.
14. Slight aSoIaF/GoT spoiler alert for the below: NPO - House Targaryen. Totally awesome, Rhaegar is the hero of the entire series. May have at some point in the past have had a slight image problem, and some sort of disagreement and war with the other major houses. Loves fire (tech), and has three dragons two million tech. Beware of the firey end of the dragon. IRON - House Martell. Orange-coloured, has some seriously cool people, was detached from the rest of the realm a long time ago. Not always at the centre of attention, but still does stuff, too. GPA - The smallfolk. Never makes any noise, doesn't stand up too tall. If war comes to them, things get ugly. Could, if they rose against the lords and ladies of the realm, probably do a lot of damage. Umbrella - House Lannister. Endlessly mining to sate their endless thirst for gold tech. A powerhouse sitting in the upper-tier mountains above the mid-tier plains. Not someone you want to wage a war against. Unkind voices make them out to be a villain who waged war on the heroes of the story, but really, they're just pragmatic. NpO - House Stark. Cold and northern, of course. Recent leaders have claimed a high moral seat, but they have just as bloody a past as everyone else, and wasn't that King in the North thing a bit of a power-grab? Recent events have seen them somewhat decimated by their foes, but they're soldiering on. Still a way to go, Winterfell hasn't been rebuilt just yet. VE - House Tyrell. Growing Strong -- it is not always entirely obvious where the Tyrell power comes from, and yet they still have it. Verdant green fields might not always impress the more warlike mind, but you can't argue with the results. Toil on the peacetime fields in one's lands seems to pay off, and give some teeth when needed. Still, not something that is often seen in use. WTF - Craster. Sitting around doing nothing useful, and then getting stabbed dead when someone more powerful wants your stuff. ODN - House Arryn. An ancient house, an honourable house. Has in its history done a lot of great things, and often been near the throne itself, even if they might never have sat it in their own right. Perhaps not always as obviously involved as they once were, but the capacity is certainly still there. (I can't figure out a fitting House that is also orange. Sorry...) Sparta - House Frey. A decently powerful house in their own right, and certainly a very ambitious one. People might question their means, but it is clear what they are trying to do, and it mostly gets done. Their relationship with House Stark has a colourful history, and might not be in its best shape right now. R&R - House Hightower. Important in their own parts, has some interesting roles to play, but not often at the centre of attention. Not an entirely deserved inattention. Okay, I'll never get through the top 20 -- there's too many alliances and too few major houses, so I'll cut it short at the top 10. Here's a selection from the rest of the alliances: NEW - Those people from Sothoryos. Might be good at war, but no one has any idea what they're saying, so the story mostly ignores them. MI6 - House Reyne. NG - The Wildlings. Expect lots of talking about sleeping with she-bears, and Tormund's gigantic member. Pretty decent at actually doing things, too, but it isn't really what they're primarily famous for. DBDC - The Others. They're not really entirely like the rest of us, are they? Scary. DK, and also all the smaller less serious raiding alliances - The Ironborn. Randomly killing and looting is a serious skill of theirs. Not universally liked, probably because of the raping and looting. May have a connection to the Others, what with that whole what is dead may never die but rises again harder and stronger thing they've got going on. TL;DR: Don't take this too seriously. It's intended primarily as humour and pop-culture, not as serious analysis. Where the two clash, expect the former to win out.
15. I think this whole "why does MI6 suck" discussion can be summed up by one word: pride. Sometimes, you need to be pragmatic, and not pour vitriol on your less polite opponents. It might be smart to give a nice answer to a less nice question, sometimes. You might be displeased by what someone posts in an embassy, but that does not mean you need to spend five pages moaning about how they're going to roll you for no reason, or grandstanding about how majestic your military capacities are and how you're going to make them regret it. You also seem to suffer from the same disease on a member level, beyond the alliance-as-a-whole. Your members need to learn that it isn't always a great idea to show up and spread their genius opinion all over a thread. Sometimes it's more productive to have a few competent posters on one line in a thread than a roaring storm of half-informed opinions from your entire alliance. If the rumours I've heard are true, about members directly disregarding instructions not to post their customary rage in an embassy -- which certainly seems to mesh with the rest of my impression of your alliance, though I'm not saying it is necessarily true just because of that -- then that also seems like a sign of your members' pride. You shouldn't prioritize your own special snowflake little opinion (which is probably the same as half of your alliance's already, anyway) above the success and governance of your alliance. Learn some humility and get over yourselves. You aren't a magic special snowflake, no one is going to treat you like one, so stop acting like you are.
16. Since these have been appreciated in the past, here is a spreadsheet with aid statistics for each nation in CN this year. Well, for all currently-aligned nations that have existed for the entirety of this year. For those too lazy to open a spreadsheet, here's the top 10 for slots used: Monster Raymond Jaeger lordtyrion levothy Jacob Burman mekon Momentum Captain Lewis Elegarth Here's the top ten for money sent: Phil Collins1 Comrade Tiki Mister Dark Lord of the Port Cuatela eviljak Boredum mikharr123 Lucas the Destroyer And here's the top ten for tech sent: levothy Phil Collins1 TodZumTeufel Tick1 RonPaul Yukiteru iceman jeffsaid Lord Ferret
17. It turns out that how to translate "gooder" into Latin is not entirely uncomplicated. I thought we were the evil puppets of doom? Now you're confusing me, hart.
18. That treaty has been cancelled for months.
19. Pacifica Sphere: Could be Gooder Sounds like an excellent slogan. We do strive for constant self-improvement, after all.
20. In b4 Sengoku hits TSO for refusing to merger.
21. Actually, Edward is completely wrong. It's a museum, not a library. It also, coincidentally, deals with our more difficult wars, so it's no surprise that it has absolutely nothing on SNX in it. But yes, talk of that is probably off-topic, since it doesn't look like SNX is interested in getting a war to memorialise, given this announcement. (See? Now I got it on topic again. Go me!)
22. Sitting around worshipping the will of a dead nation doesn't seem too productive. Yay.
23. Since this is now a stats thread, here's some better stats on Brown AAs:

And, for the interested, some stats on what spheres these brown nations used to be on. Of 349 nations on Brown, 305 existed five weeks ago. These nations were, at the time, on the following spheres: Of the 349 nations on brown, 268 existed ten weeks ago. These nations were, at the time, on the following spheres: The nations who are on brown now and were on brown at this time are currently in the following AAs:

Of the 349 nations on brown, 250 existed twenty weeks ago. These nations were, at the time, on the following spheres: These nations, who were on brown twenty weeks ago and are currently on brown, are currently in the following AAs:

24. Hey, I edited that part out. Because... I'm a lazy person, okay. Can't be bothered to do that much work.
