1. The paradox of an alliance being designated as an independent is that it is established, or at least upheld, not from within the alliance but from the outside world. We can say we're independent all we want but if a large enough faction decided that we aren't, any attempt to contest the issue is pointless. To that effect we've found the best path toward being seen the way we'd like is to leave others alone as best as possible, avoid any and all airs of superiority, and even then I'm sure we've offended some folks who haven't forgiven us yet. Short of pure neutrality whatever opinions you choose to adopt, whatever wars you choose to fight, no matter how "right" or no matter how "wrong", makes being seen as independent of the flows of the game all the harder. And it should. Then again I'm not known for being some great sage of the game. But I see only one universal path which we all fall under, being too formidable or too damned likable to attack, or on the defensive. Therefore, making the insistence we're part of some new "third way" seems to push the idea that "independents" are far more original than I give us credit for.
 2.
24 Green Protection Agency 21 Umbrella 15 World Task Force 8 Créole
When the heck that happened I don't know, it used to be only four and we lost one of them, the last war was kinder than I'd have guessed.
 3.
Is this the lamest poaching attempt ever or the lamest joke ever?
Definitely a dedicated attempt at a generic lame joke. We've been too lazy to poach people for years. //I get lonely on the OWF, we don't have much to post about. :sniff: Stop staring at me.
 4. You should be careful about letting too many folks retire, our old folks home has better hard candy.
 5.
Are you looking for a new alliance?
I've got to get the alliance I helped found into the sanction race before I consider it, as a matter of principle. I was once (well perhaps more than once) told I was completely inconsequential, which is not a point I disagreed or disagree with, but I'd like to prove my own backwards version of gameplay is simply inefficient rather than completely worthless.
 6.
We made a good trade with Creole, though. All in all, we're still winning. Plus he was a freebie bonus coming as a late present from Darkfall anyway.
I think it depends whether you factor Meer into the equation as well. On the plus side for you guys it didn't put us back on the All Alliances list yet. I'm sure things will even out in the long run.
 7. As somebody who has been in an "elite" alliance, a "mass" alliance, and now resides in one I'd hesitate to apply either description to, the only thing I can say on the whole matter is that there current argument has far too few variables to define even reasonably homogeneous groups that one could even start applying subjective "betterness" opinions unto. It's like asking which are better, men or women? Outside of anything inherent in the definition (men will be worse at giving birth) at best you start by arguing over stereotypes and it goes downhill from there.
 8.
Am I the only one in this world that likes seeing GPA as the #1 alliance?
I think most of us enjoy it, but we're closely related to the dirty hippies and the opinions of neutrals inherently don't make much of an impact. As a somebody who's been around long enough it is comforting nostalgia regardless of politics.
 9.
Sure, this might make sense in the short term. In the long term though NpO's allies get turned to slag and abandon them for being such useless individuals. RIA, and STA in particular have been incinerated because of Polar.
From my understanding the damage on that front might already have pushed the issue out of consideration. Having made the choice, quite possibly the wrong one, I'm not sure switching midstream will do anything. As to TOP-IRON keeping NpO in permanent war or demanding destructive reparations it's not an irrational concern, not one I perhaps would have placed my money on, but I think it falls below the threshold for what constitutes retardation in this game. That bar is so close to the ground your more likely to encounter troubles tripping over it than clearing it. In any case, this is our alliance's sole official commentary on December wars... 10.
Yeah and losing those few remaining friends they have left. NpO cannot win in peace mode. They can't win in war mode either but at least it will be over if they do.
May be over, which slightly complicates matters. If NpO is not expecting to be offered peace in any circumstance, or accepting it, staying in peace mode until some outside event forces peace seems to be better than being beat down to zero infrastructure and having to recreate nations in peace mode until the same condition is met. Unless there has been some sort of offer to the effect of Polar being granted peace some set time after all their nations leave peace mode, I'm not privy to any real information. But if given the options of being beaten up, or being beaten up and having your lunch money stolen, the incentive to rush out into overwhelming odds that can easily absorb the damage seems pointless.
 11.
Seeing the old DOVE boards would be quite interesting if they're still around somewhere. Despite all my involvement in Citadel I never saw those discussions from the DOVE boards, which were later brought up in many arguments on what type of bloc Citadel was suppose to be. (which FCC and TOP tended to argue over a lot, as FCC thought Citadel was meant to be independent from the NPO hegemony, rather than be attached to it with 3/4 signatories)
I don't know if they still exist, to the best of my knowledge they're only still around as some direct quotes from the old FCC et al. forums. As one of the primary actors in that old argument I would like to point out that I never recall accusing any of the other signatories of being part of the NPO hegemony (and I certainly admit to calling them a great number of things), it was more of a debate in concern to things like intelligence sharing and the nature and primacy of the bloc. In any case it's been done and buried for a long time now, those who didn't like the outcome left, and I don't see any good in digging it up again. I suggest a fitting end to the discussion would be for Crymson to buzz back by, call us a bunch of panty wearing mooncalfs, and we can send it back to 2007 to rest in peace.
 12.
Make the old citadel forums completely public for posterity to read. Now that could be interesting.
I can only speak from the first couple months of the Citadel boards but the old DOVE (citadel founding negotiation) boards might be a more interesting read in juxtaposition to how the bloc actually played out. My memory of the Citadel boards looking back, from the admin level on down, was the lack of certain bits of information was often more notable than what was actually discussed. That was however only a fraction of the board's existence.
 13.
Chaste means to have never had intercourse. If you cannot have it because you do not have the anatomy, does that make you less chaste? Are eunichs asexual or chaste or both?
In reference to neutrality, complete impartiality begets neutrality, but it is completely possible to be neutral without forfeiting your gonads. Though as opinions are increasingly a cause of war perhaps the difference will become purely semantic sooner than later. I welcome our new neutral overlords, in any case.
 14.
But we panic impartially on everyone!
Neutrality and impartiality are separate matters, or at least share the difference between chastity and asexuality.
 15.
Hardly embarrassing. It is war, crap gets blowing up.
Once you've normalized for the size of the alliance (which applies to IRON's high losses in the past as well), I imagine the losses are fairly consistent with every other war where one side is overwhelmed by a significant margin. In fact simply because Fark is on the whole an alliance of long time, fairly active members, I'd be willing to guess that if somebody wasted a couple days of their life to find enough relevant statistics they're about average. Additionally as recruiting in game has slowed, raising the level of wonders and nukes per nation, I'd expect everybody is taking a bit more damage than they would have had if this war been fought with their nations from a year ago.
