    Well, I don't take sides in any of this. All alliances can do what they will, as is their sovereign right. I merely try to understand what is going on behind the scenes and the possible motivations of the parties involved, from an objective standpoint. That's why I talk to as many people as possible to gain a thorough understanding of affairs.

    If you somehow think that a few bits of internet data paints enough of a picture to go on a crusade against someone IRL, you have serious mental deficiencies and one twisted white knight syndrome.

    going after someone irl for what they did in a game would be terrible and we would never have advocated it. there is an important ooc/ic divide which we all respect! 

     

    however going after someone in a game for their rl criminal activities is fair play. 

     

    lesson: don't be bad or the mk police will get u.

    No, the actions of MK transcended even this world, and were beyond deplorable. Hoo and Kait, etc.

    Not surprising to see GOONS step up and defend that, though.

    i'm just glad we let that poor child escape their clutches so she could live with her caring biological father. after all, parents who would lie to the police, claiming their daughter had been kidnapped really have no place in society :)

     

    also glad we helped expose moo as a fraud who was scamming people out of money and preying on younger members of the cn community. our only regret is that we couldn't inform the student union or charities he stole from, our information only coming to us after the incident with the dental hygienist. 

     

    you can thank us in your own time.

    te has no political atmosphere. it's just limiting damage and pressing buttons until the last day when there's a massive scramble. that's why even fewer people play te than play se.

    you cannot compare the scale of the wars from 4 years ago to the ones of today. in terms of total tech, total wonders (hello sdi and wrc) and warchest sizes the two eras were completely different.

    at the time, the reps from WoTC were crippling, especially on a small alliance like mk/athens (as fyfe pointed out earlier, athens paid back 14/16ths of its tech which is like NATO being asked to pay back 300k today - completely impossible considering the tech inflation we have). the amount of tech MK had to pay back in the timeframe (4 months) would be a steep term today. Aside from TOP (even accounting for the fact they had a portion of their reps removed which would have taken off maybe 3-4 rounds) there hasn't really been a comparative set of reps paid since then in such a constrained time-frame.

    3 months of nuclear warfare has happened on the following fronts since WoTC:
    2009: NPO (v everyone), TPF (v everyone), IRON (v Fark, GRE) (sort of)
    2010: TOP/IRON (v MK, NpO, ODN (largely))
    2011: NPO (v MK), NpO (v VE) (and in the next war) Fark (v NG et al)
    2012: ???

    All of these alliances were big.

    In comparison, sizable reps since that time:
    2009: NPO (12 months, half cash, low capacity)
    2010: TOP (6 months, allowed indirect reps via IRON nations), IRON (6 months iirc - not hugely damaging but remember they had to effectively pay off TOP's too)
    2011: None of note
    2012: ???

    tl;dr 90 days of eating nukes today is harsh, but becoming standard practice for big fronts since TOP/C&G. WoTC reps were far beyond the norm.

    In the next war they only had to deal with CRAP, CSN, TTK, and NPL, and they had the help of GOONS/Umbrella as well as Europa and Alchemy. No offense to any of those alliances, but when the most competent alliance in all four of those alliances is CSN, you have a problem. It's common knowledge that Mjolnir took the brunt of the damage in that was as well.

    I don't know if you were around for karma or TOP/C&G but they were pretty big wars. TPF had quite a bit of NS on them, sure, but that was a massive front (and one I don't think Drai was referring to judging by the timeframe on his post, but it was still significant). TOP/C&G was absolutely huge. MK has never recovered from that war (and neither has TOP). TOP had an upper tier comparable to Umbrella's today (ANS was less but the same number of large nations) and after the first 2-3 weeks only MK, the ODN and NpO had more than 5-10 wars going at once (and it lasted months) with MK taking the bulk of the upper tier throughout. The same goes for NPO/Doomhouse when MK and GOONS took the vast majority of the wars which were fought in the middle and (formerly middle) - lower tiers until the final two weeks when the large NPO nations came out of PM.

    If you re-read his post you will see that he didn't say MK took the on themselves, simply that they were in the biggest fronts (which is true for 2010-2012) with the [i]exception[/i] of the MHA one.

    While it's fine to say that we had help with those wars (and we did, invaluable help) he is correct in saying we were on the biggest fronts, and anyone with a memory of the events can attest to the fact we took the biggest workload on those fronts.
