    Brett Cowan I hope they find the deepest darkest hole at the edge of humanity and toss you in it till the end of your days.
    For those that missed it, the Jury just returned a Guilty Verdict on all charges in the Murder of Daniel Morcombe. The serial child rapist who has been in and out of jail for years for this stuff is now awaiting his latest sentence to come any minute now. I hope to god the justice system has learnt it's lesson when they hand this down.

    It all kicks off again tonight.... Queensland victors 7 years running return to defend their title against the NSW underdogs. Sure its only game one.... but win or loose this one and your a long way there toward winning the series!
    Now... to job the wounds of my much loved southern counterparts in NSW.....

    There are a lot of ANZAC legends, and stories we know well, this year I'm going to link you to one not so well known but no less legendary,

    The above documentary is long... but good. Grab a beer this ANZAC day and settle in for it if you get the chance.
    It tells the story of 100 odd Aussie diggers that got ambushed by a few thousand Viet Cong and North Vietnamese regulars in a rubber plantation near Long Tan. They dug in and fought for their lives against human wave VC who surged at them for hours. It was only through the support of distant artillery (some Kiwi I should note) and an APC counter attack that they were somehow able to win the battle.
    In the end the losses amounted to 18 Australians dead and 24 wounded, for the VC/NVA 245 dead and around 350 wounded.
    They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. Lest we forget.

    We tend to not pay much attention in CN as we purchase what ever max level fighter jets we can or hit the max-tanks purchase button but it did make me stop and wonder the other day. If I actually was in charge of fitting out a nations military, within a limited budget (ie. pretty well anyone in the world below US military expenditure) how would I actualy do it?
    Given limited funds what fighter jets would I invest in, given real world constraints (such as bans on F-22 exports, F-35 production delays and availabily problems etc), what Anti-Armor or Transport choppers would I purchase.
    What style of Ground Forces would I assemble.. .a large poorly fitted out Militia type army or smaller well equiped professional army?
    Anyway reply post with your thoughts on what gear you would tack onto your national budget if CN gave you the options. I'll probably have a think about it myself and reply soon too.

    My personal favorite top 5 war movies. So many to pick from but wanted to narrow it down to just the top few. Feel free to reply post with your own, may remind me to check out a few I've totally forgotten about! Wasn't till I finished that I realised I've selected nothing pre WWII, and thats including war movies set in the Middle Ages, Industrial Age etc but I guess none about that era really hooked me in as much. Was pretty hard to leave out Apocalypse Now but I felt it a little narrow minded to list nearly all Vietnam era films. Here goes...

    A big shout out to all the tourists that took the time to visit the Republic of Queensland this last war.

    There was some MK, Europa, Neb-X and more GOONS then you could poke a radioactive stick at so I cant name you all but anyway had a great time! Rebuild, rearm and lets throw another party this time next year hey.     NRL Grand Final!

    Well Rugby League fans its only a couple of days till the big NRL grand final this Sunday between the Warriors and the Sea Eagles. Here's to hoping that the Warriors can get one up on the Sea Eagles... not that I like the Warriors so much as the fact I just cant bare to see the Sea Eagles win again

    Yeah so the NPL is a great laugh and all as we try and tip planet bob to the edge of Judgement Day... the scarey thing is though in the Real World the situation really isn't much better...

    Is it just me or does everyone else get a little nervous looking at Russia with 20,000 nukes... not so much in a cold war "the russians are coming!" kind of way but more in a... oh god i hope they count those babies close and some corrupt border guard doesn't sell one off on the side to some crack pot like gaddafi for example

    I just wanted to extend a public thank you to the nations of Poison Clan for the last 2 months of Warfare. As I sit looking at what will no doubt be several months of quiet rebuilding it dawned on me we had one hell of a fun start to 2011 and I owe that to you guys for putting up such a great fight and being a more then worthy enemy.
    Good luck in your rebuild and I'll look forward to seeing what the rest of 2011 has in store for us all.

    Mid-Game Crisis

    So I log on.... somewhere vaguely around 600 + days of gameplay and realised I couldn't remember why I was playing this game anymore. It had become so sanatised and void of war I was feeling like I was lost. Everything is about solid CB's (aparently cause you don't like someones ideal's isn't enough anymore?)... only entering war's that are against the "right" side of treaty webs...not wanting to offend allys of allys of allys etc.... spend little save sensible... I snapped.
    Some rage quit... others make a OWF post blaming admin... i saw a small light in a DOW by the Brotherhood of Steel this same day. Finally someone else that seams to get it...even if he was a one man band. Well so the rest will pan out as it does hopefully .... no doubt with a lot of burnt pixels and a pile of laughs, but hey at least the game feels real again.
