    That's because Karma isn't a formal organisation but an alliance of convenience: there's no objective for Karma beyond kicking the crap out of the NPO and company. Beyond that, everyone's got different ideas about what's going on.

    I think it has everything to do with what the NPO has done in the past. So many people wouldn't be baying for blood had the NPO ever acted with even a semblance of fairness.

    I personally don't see the problem in enforcing harsh peace terms as a punishment. The war is a trial, the peace terms the sentence. There's no doubt the NPO is a repeat offender of the worst kind and should be treated as such when it comes to the final peace terms. edit for consistency

    The leadership should have incredibly harsh terms enforced while the rank and file can get away with a slap on the wrist.
