  1. Opening Trade with Fascist Carthage In a move seen both as a great success by many and a massive setback to others, President Beaumont has made his first large scale move since his inauguration. The Socialist base attacks the President and his administration, but with his solidified support within his own party, the military, and new found support in the Fascist Party, President Beaumont can continue comfortably with this move. New France cargo ship carrying wheat have left our ports for the Fascist Republic of Carthage this morning carrying massive amounts of wheat to effectively bring an end to Carthaginian bread crisis. Last night loads of containers where loaded onto the ships; a military presence was rumored but this cannot be confirmed. Loading of New France Cargo ships to Fascist Carthage
  2. Considering only for a moment, President Beaumont knew he had no other choice. "Deal." Then he stood to thank the Moroccans, or Carthaginians as they wish to be called.
  3. President Beaumont took a moment to consider the proposals on the table. In reality he couldn't of hoped for a better deal, but he didn't want the Carthaginians to see that. With all the cheap oil New France would import, its auto industry would surely boom, and been seen as a great acheivment by his administration perhaps winning him some more support. "We have the wheat to put bread on your tables, and I will gladly open trade with Carthage as the deal stands. This is a magnificant proposal, and in return I offer to send observers from New France to report on the internal works of your republic. Many nations have called for such observers and New France is willing to fill the slot."
  4. Beaumont wondered for a moment if Cutlass's phrase was metaphorical then entered the jeep. Looking for a seat belt he quickly discovered there was none. He placed his hands on his lap. The entire ride he carefully examined Cutlass's "State". It was marked by ancient and new buildings. Fascist propoganda was very promonent but was placed in such an orderly manner that it did not look messy. There where citizens outside who slauted their leader and waved to President Beaumont. The streets signs seemed to be in Arabic, but the population seemd to be a mix of dark, and light skin with European, African, and Arabic facial features. This was a diverse land, unified under one party, one leader, one State. New France had similar diversities, but the nation was plagued with disunity. The split was not racial, but rather ideological. How Cutlass found a way around this, and how he maintained was a question he certainly wanted answered.
  5. "It was very comfortable. To be honest I slept through most of the trip, but I did catch some glimpses of your nat...State from the sky. It is beautiful indeed." He continued following the dictator, who saluted loyal soldiers. "If I may ask, when does our meeting begin?"
  6. At first caught off guard by the salute he quickly jogged his memory of what his advisores had told him of Fascist Carthage. He smiled and nodded to Cutlass, who quickly monopilized the situation, as is his right and very much in his power to do so. He annalyzed the dicator. Cutlass was a man of action, and fascism is characterized by action. Perhaps the ideology required movement to remain afloat, any loss in momentum may cause it to sink. As he followed Cutlass into the airport and through the terminal he thaught back to his plane trip to the nation. He was shown tapes of Cutlass speeches. Fiery and bold, his voice captured the crowds, his words bombarded them and broke them down while his movements, expressions, and obvious passion pulled them in. Cutlass's charisma and powerful speeches where obviously the fuel to his wildfire of support.
  7. Exiting the plane, President Beaumont quickly spotted Cutlass and the large security team around him. To his surprise, the airport looked very modern, planes where clean and new, and Cutlass was dressed in a very elaboratly decorated military uniform. He stood in awe at how Cutlass braught his nation first together, then up and out of most of their troubles. This made him consider for a moment if Democracy is truley doomed to fail, as so many have predicted. He stepped of the last stair, and stretched out his arm, offering a handshake to Cutlass.
  8. New France has similar ambitions for its own Auto Industry.
  9. With no alternative in sight, and extreme pressure from Generals who threaten to back socialist or fascist parties, the President turns to Cutlass. President Baeumont faced some opposition from his party but many understood his decision to be the parties only choice. Socialist outcry against the meeting was strong, but it was no match for the flood of Fascist support, and majority democratic support as well. President Beaumont stated, "He is one man ruling over one people. What he has acheived is what we lack, and this is why I will meet with him." The President departed today to meet with Cutlass and Fascist Carthage military officials.
  10. Arms Build-up As President Beaumont struggles to unite the various forces of the nation under the new democracy, Generals have been placing heavy pressure on the President to increase military spending and recrutment. Their argument is that the military is simply too small, and in its current state leaves the nation vulnerable to aggressive neighbors. It seems as though every few days a new budget is considered, each larger than the last, and all towards the military. While arms production has soared, recrutement has barely gotten moving. There simply are not enough people within the nation who are willing to join the military. Its benefits are overshadowed by those of other jobs in New France, and the nation is still split over the close elections. Many do not support the new government, while those who do are annxiosly joining in on the oportunities of Democracy. General François Reynolds stated, "We have more tanks than men to drive them."
  11. President Elected!!! Today the nation celebrates the rule of its first President since the nations official declaration of existance afew days ago. Alderic Beaumont is now the new President of New France. Pomeroy uses his suport now to create the Communist Party of New France while Laroche has done the same by creating the Fascist Party of New France. But it is Beaumont's Democratic Party that now controls most of the government. Mass celebrations take place as Baeumont is inaugurated into office.
  12. Election Turns Again! It has now been confirmed that Baeumont has taken a progressive lead so far, with Pomeroy in second, and Laroche still close behind. As the voting completes and the election winds down we can only wait and see who will lead our nation, and only guess on to what path.
  13. We return a warm "Thanks" or rather "Merci" to the nations who have welcomed us.
  14. Pomeroy and Beaumont Take Lead As first votes are counted, Baeumont took a quick lead but Pomeroy and Laroche, for a time at least, both surpassed Beaumont. The election seems to be a wildcard at this point, with Pomeroy and Baemont now tied for first, and Laroche not far behind. Rallies for each candidate are held across the country, as the nation excitedly awaits the final results. One man noted, "This is better than the soccer championships!"
  15. First Elections! Countless French Americans line outside of polling stations throught the new nation. Every citizen at least 18 years of age has been given this oportunity to influence the first election of the nation and it looked as though everyone who can vote, will vote. The candidates are as follows: Fiacre Laroche- Strongly influenced by Carthagninian Fascism, Laroche seeks "peaceful coup" in form of democratic election into office. His form of fascism, he claims, is a healthier, and less invasive, but will take strong command in leading the nation to prosperity and strength. He plans to model the nation closely after Fascist Carthage. Alderic Beaumont- Former star soccer player, Beaumont also promises to strengthen the nation and lead it on a prosperous path through Democracy. Emphasising the importance of the arts, education, and sports, he believes in the power of the people, their values, and freedoms. Édouard Pomeroy- Leader of the unofficial French American Communist Union, Pomery seeks a religionless, classless nation. Abolishing private property, and installing a system of public ownership over the nation. He promises to provide defence, equality, and strength to the new nation through Communism. His views fall closely in line with most Marxist beliefs.
  16. New France Formally displaced French settlers in the Americas gathered together today to unite under French rule. New France emerges as a sovereign nation, for French Americans, by French Americans, and under a French President. The mass French citizens declared their existance under the leadership of a large council. Now as the nation prepares for its first election, excited New France citizens rush to the polling booths.
