    We had every reason to believe (through past experience) that talking to IAA would do nothing other than alert NsO to our plans and allow them to escape to peace mode, thus denying our ability to combat them effectively. As we have seen, NsO indeed had begun to hit peacemode when they found out (thus our earlier-than-expected declaration of war).

    IAA have not shown the ability nor the willingness to rein in the actions of their protectorate at any time before now. Why would this have changed?

    You missed the part where their protectorate proceeded to accuse of something that we absolutely did not do, possibly because of what IAA told them (or else because they just decided to accuse us of doing it for their own reasons).

    More like because someone in IAA leaked the discussion to NsO and "asking IAA to talk to their protectorate about wayward behavior of their members" somehow turned into NsO accusing us of "trying to get their allies to drop them".

    Again, where did you hear that time constraints where why we didn't talk to IAA? [b]This is plainly incorrect[/b].

    We didn't talk to IAA because of the reception we got from them and their wayward protectorate the [b]last[/b] time we had to talk to them about NsO.

    Actually it was one person, and when the "disagreement" in question was "I don't want to buy nukes", only to have said nation buy nukes shortly after joining their new alliance (which a gov member of specifically indicated he intended to poach) yes, it is poaching.

    But I wouldn't expect any less than blatant fallacy and spin from a member of the attacked alliance.

    You'd be surprised at how many of the nominally Karma-aligned alliances were [s]afraid[/s][b]paranoid[/b] that the big bad NPO would be coming back to EZI them all.

    Also, the OP is spot on. CnG and SF were never a cohesive hegemony, more regents for the power that was to come.
