4. "We're curious as to why Englishman are always interjecting their rule upon the independent Scottish peoples...I wonder what the Germans have to say about this? Given they've been the natural protectors of the isles for years now, I imagine they have quite an opinion on this move." -Prime Minister Vincent Hawkins
 5. Admiral William Blake released a report to Minister of War Jack Pierce earlier tonight detailing the status of the Vinsalian Naval Forces. In short, it stated that after years of focused attention on devloping naval yards and technology that the Navy had all but developed into a robust organization. As it stands the basic level infrastructure needed to maintain and equip a large naval force has been established. Now further developments aim to increase the logistical support as well as communications networking needed to provide global means of force and strike capabilities. In total the navy has 72 military vessals which house around 97k naval personal. Among these military craft are various designs of destroyers, cruisers, frigates, carriers, landing craft, support craft and both nuclear and non-nuclear submarines. With an emphasis being placed on utilizing long-range missile craft to provide anti-air and anti-sea capbilities as well as supporting ground-based targets. Present divisions within the navy are as followed. 1st VN Fleet: stationed in New Rochelle, New York 2nd VN Fleet: stationed in Portland, Maine Additionally, Admiral Blake has presided over the growth of Vinsalian intelligence capabilities with the launching of 3 Skyhawk satellites with an additional 4 planned to be launched throughout the next year. With these capabilities intertwined Vinsalia will soon be able to provide global monitoring capabilities and the means to keep eyes on any points of interest throughout the globe. In addition to this, 8 Babel class communication satellites are planned to be launched over the next few months to provide greater communication capabilities for the military network.

 7.
He's not stupid. He knows that will not work, when his figure of non profit is reached, he wont try to impose subscriptions, by that point it will be pointless and he would probably just switch it off and move onto another venture. And he probably also knows by introducing it now or if he tried it earlier, he would see his shrinking world disappear faster. So I asked if you think this place is here just for your enjoyment? And not for any kind of profit? It's been ducked by everyone so far. Because he doesn't use one method of money making and uses another method then it's not a money making venture? I bet his bank balance back in the 40k era said otherwise.
It's for profit; nobody has made any inclination denying this fact. You keep harking on it as if it will change the basis of the argument or the state of the game. (Hint: It won't. People who pay will continue too; people who don't will continue not too.) Now consider this fact. I've been here much longer then you have just like BamaBuc (I'll be 6 years old in a few months...) I was one of the members creating topics lamenting the declining state of the game 2 years ago and creating alliances years before that. Nothing you've argued is anything new or even productive with regards to improving the game... so unless you start making points beyond "the game is for profit." you're simply wasting your time on a pointless conversation. Everyone realizes the state of the game has regressed significantly (and has known so for years)...but continually bellowing about it will do nothing but reduce the experience of people who still find enjoyment in what is left in this world of ours.

 9.
Sounds like pre-Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Yep, or in more general terms voter suppression. Here you go!
 10. You should have to pass a literacy test, pay a fee, and carry a valid CN ID to make a poll. Cookies to anyone who know's what I did there.
 11.
New Hampshire -- Maine -- Vermont -- Admitted into Vinsalia! It has just been announced by the Bourbon administration that an election has been held within the northern states of Vermont, New Hampshire, & Maine for the purposes of being admitted to Vinsalia as formal states. We are pleased to announce that the motion has passed in each state. Vermont voted 66% in favor. New Hampshire voted 53% in favor with Maine voting 62%. As of now these states comprise the Greater nation of Vinsalia alongside the native New York. Many are calling this vote a step in the right direction for Vinsalia and will serve to strengthen the nation by providing millions of new citizens, services, and resources to the nation as a whole. Officials have been quoted as saying that each of these states should expect an infusion of developmental projects in line with the standard infrastructure of New York. While no plans have been officially released thus far we can only speculate that these developments should prove to be a boom in the newly admitted state economies. The Bourbon administration has called this day a "monumental moment in the growing story of Vinsalia!"
12.
If you avoid the session you can simply get a waiver from the GMs.
The devil is in proving that someone is avoiding the session. You can't... not for the first week unless of a glaring example...which nobody is dumb enough to provide that. Hell your war in Britain is one of the examples of pre-planning gone wrong.
 13.
I am as biased as you are as we disagree on this, everyone is biased to their own opinions and don't attempt to act like you are above this stat. Pre-planning actually prevents a lot of arguing between two people that will stretch through the entire war. At most two attempts have to be made to pre-plan then you get a waiver. So during that time, you have to wait. I apologize for this deep deep inconvenience. I understand that most people cant keep their shirts on for two days of waiting. Instant gratification is a common flaw in humanity.
The difference being is that your side refuses to acknowledge the validity of counter arguments. Also where is your evidence that pre-planning is preventing argument? Because this topic is riddled with evidence suggesting otherwise; including the posts of GM's (who are directly involved with moderation of these sessions.) All evidence seems to suggest that pre-planning has the opposite effect. Theoretically, if someone where to PM you to pre-plan a war this very moment. Would you be open to it? Given you're actively responding to this topic and as a result can be considered active enough to pre-plan. Or would you find a way to avoid the session? I think you'd probably say you're busy or would rather hash it out on IRC at a later date...and in that span of time you would begin thinking of various ways to plan out a defense and OOC contact allies over the span of days. Then finally you would begin a pre-planning session and bicker with the aggressor over various parts of the endgame. Just like most pre-planning sessions prior...and thus the flaw becomes apparent; that is that pre-planning isn't used to solve arguments between warring nations...but instead is used to actively skirt and avoid war for as long as possible. Probably dropping out of the war after a couple of posts...thus creating a month worth of inaction that should have taken days of feverish posting. Pre-planning is good in theory between consenting players; but most don't consent and far worse use the system to abuse it in their favor. Also I agree with that this poll should be made public.
 14. Issac your arguments are made entirely invalid by the fact that you're entirely biased. This is supported by the fact that anyone opposing pre-planning is part of the "hegemony." You're literally discrediting peoples reasonable arguments on the basis that they're a part of a group that you quantify as anyone against pre-planning. I hope you realize how absurd you sound. I'm sorry to inform you but that isn't how you make a point...that's how you discredit it. ----- Pre-planning should be optional for both the aggressor and defending party...not this mandatory crap. As it stands currently people have begun abusing this legality to either delay conflicts or influence IC actions based on information derived from these sessions. In theory, pre-planning would be used to hash out any potential conflicts of war and set up some sort of story arc but as Zoot and most of the GM's can attest this simply isn't happening. Instead it's creating OOC arguments between people and being used as a technical excuse to delay wars. What is the overall effect of this? Stagnated conflicts and OOC buttrage. Abolish mandatory pre-planning and make it optional!
 15. OOC: I remember typing up a reply to this like a week ago...no idea why I didn't respond sooner. Sorry for that JED. --- Vincent would read over the treaty briefly before grinning. "Everything appears to be satisfactory to us. It has been a pleasure working out the contents of this treaty between our nations. May our relations bloom to even greater heights." He would then pull out an ink pen and sign his name on the dotted line. Signed: Vincent Hawkins Prime Minister of Vinsalia
 16. Infinite Citadel is a perfect choice for this position...he's one of the more level headed people I've had the pleasure of dealing with in the past. Congrats on the promotion my friend.
 17. Abstain. Because I feel like it...
 18. Logically, you should have the satellite improvement and Space Program wonder. Or that is what I thought at least.
 19. This award format is silly... Not to mention it's far too early for these in the first place.
 20.
Yes the politics will carry on, obviously while the game runs. Until Admin pulls the plug because effort v return is not what he would like. The politics has been the same since the game began and will be the same until the game gets taken down. Treaty whore, gather friends, isolate enemies, attack under !@#$ CB or no CB, rinse wash repeat many times over. There is nothing revolutionary about that. I still don't see that being the saviour of the game. It hasn't been successful so far. The numbers keep dropping and will continue to do so.
Who said anything about saving the game?
 21.
The minute the population decreases to the point Admin looses his donators, he will pull the plug on this game quicker than you could say it So yea, by having a lesser pool of people to get money from will inevitably kill this game He certainly wont be paying for it out his own pocket for our enjoyment. To think this place isn't dying or wont die is delusional at best. I don't understand how people have the crazy idea that this game will be kept going if the donators stop lining the Admins pocket. (I'm not insulting him for treating it as an income) I would do the same. But if you have a 5000 hardcore membership base, and none of those people donate. The place wont be going for very long. Think of the potential for donations with 40k players. Think of the potential for donators for 30k players And so on, and so on, until it reaches critical point Admin pulls the plug
I'm not commenting on the business aspects of this game. We as players aren't privy to the information needed to determine the cost of business and amount of donations needed to keep CN afloat so it's irrelevant to discuss it. The only thing we as players can directly influence is the politics of this game. Which as I said earlier will continue on until the very end.
 22. As evident by the post above mine I would say that CN isn't dying at all. It's simply consolidating itself into a small core of players who will remain until the day admin disables the servers. What this means is our politics will become more streamlined and barring any major fallout in current power-circles we'll have a less dynamic political movement. In the past there were a variety of different groups vying for different aims with opposing ideals but over the span of time these groups have more or less merged into one another to create more united groups. This same principle is supported by the evidence of various alliances merging themselves to form newer larger groups; the latest example being Anarchy Inc. But overall this process or "dying" as it's been called has been happening for years now. At this point the vast majority of casual players have departed leaving only a core of hardcore players to remain. So I wouldn't worry about the game shrinking drastically or dying anytime soon.
 23. "So General...what is the status of our military buildup? While we cannot hope to build an army overnight I do believe we've had more then one night to do it by now...and you and I both know the world will not wait on us to develop our forces before testing us." General Thomas groaned "I've got your damned army building up just fine...our recruitment rates have grown exponentially and over the last few months have successfully trained more then one million soldiers to serve on active duty. Your quotas are being met well beyond even my own expectations." "Well, it certainly helps that our military veterans will be generously taken care of ..." "Mhmm... as it stands we've become one of the largest military powers in the world. In terms of manpower alone we can field the largest army in North America. But we have a bit of a problem with regards to that facet. To put it frankly, while we have plenty of bodies to meet our needs and acceptable leadership, we lack a fundamental component. As the saying goes... "guns and butter." "I'-what are you asking for General." "We need to expand our production facilities to meet our growing military forces. To put it bluntly, we're only slightly better then the Russians in WW2 having one rifle per unit..." "General, no need to exaggerate things. If you need more weaponry, simply ask and we will make it happen." "I had a procurement order sent to your office a week ago. Where are my guns...you want an army yet you only give me the most basic items to outfit and train our personal." "The reason your procurement order was not fulfilled is quite simple really. The weaponry you've requested is no longer the best fit for our needs. We've got new toys for you to play with and your forces will soon find themselves benefiting from the tireless efforts of our weaponry research divisions." --- With an increasingly destabilized continent it seemed imperative now more then ever that efforts would be made to increase the defense capabilities of the nation. Diplomatically, Vinsalia seemed poised to secure itself into a relatively safe position from most powers. But it was universally recognized within national security circles that allied nations cannot be wholly counted upon to defend the rights and interests of Vinsalia. With that recognition came a sweeping bill of changes implemented by the Vinsalian government... putting good use to the billions of dollars that had been allocated and until this point sitting idle. Defense doctrine would be shaped to fit a modern battlefield taking great efforts to eliminate the use of 20th century stationary defenses and instead make use of more mobile elastic means of defense. Mobile radar installations would be constructed and fielded throughout the nation to provide a comprehensive network of aerial detection capabilities. While there would be a number of hardened radar centers built in undisclosed locations which would be extremely tough to disable. As each radar bunker would be lead lined and layered in tons of steel reinforced concrete which would greatly improve resistance to EMP weaponry and explosive ordinance. In conjunction to these efforts SAM installations would be built throughout the nation to provide a steady layer of anti-air capabilities while mobile anti-air units would be formed to provide mobile capabilities to these aims. Thousands of older grade military craft would be bought through international markets and dismantled for their radar units which would in turn be put in basic vehicles to serve as bogey radar stations. Ultimately this would create a extremely rigid layer of security for the Vinsalian state.
