1.
[09:22] <Jonathan_Brookbank|BalMasque> Here comes some million year old reference to the Emerald Affairs which I wasn't even gov of GGA to have a role in

Criticise VE for making references to the past.
Only refer to VE as "zombVE" (referencing a 3 month stretch 5 years ago)
Reminisce about egore, a leader who left 4 years ago.
You would sound a lot more convincing in your "no, I don't care about the past" if your nickname for the VE wasn't about an event that happened 5 years ago.
 2.
Fully agreed, this is why 2006 and 2007 were so fun. Short engagements but full out fights with more drama in between.
Now I am just reminiscing about the times when alliances decided to escalate a war by going nuclear. Now nukes are standard operating procedure.
 3.
And there goes my respect for VE, I knew that without PB to back them VE would fold really fast.
You had respect for the VE before this? If you did, it didn't show.
*See told you Goldie I needed to specify that*
I'm surprised there is even any confusion about this. Though reading the OP, it doesn't specifically say who does what. I guess the context should make it obvious that the terms apply to the VE. Maybe if you don't know the context it might confuse.
 4. Did not expect peace this soon. Ah well, good show NPO! (and allies)
 5. This gave me a good laugh 1. You are not an alliance, you are one single nation. 2. You declared war on a bloc with more member alliances than you have warslots. 3. You attacked an enemy of GOONS, thus helping them. Fantasy: You are an alliance at war with PB Reality: You are a rogue helping GOONS out, hence fighting on their side in the war Now if I were to continue with your fantasy, then I would ask you this; How can you claim to be at war with GOONS when every single nation in your alliance is helping GOONS?
 6. Depends what you mean with support. I wouldn't think it is desirable or in any way something alliances have the right to do, but if you think you can do it, why not. Just don't be surprised if every treaty partner you have decides to drop you because you are acting stupidly. I do support anybody their rights to do whatever they want as long as they are willing to accept the consequences. The fact of the matter is, the consequences of trying such a thing would easily outweigh the benefits. You would need to survive the massive PR hit if you do decide to do this, and there is the obvious threat of letting people in that don't like you from the start. Nobody would even blame such a person if they were to try and infiltrate/spy/destroy the alliance that annexes others.
 7.
Finally, Methrage has decided to make a pest of himself again, so I find it necessary to put the boots to him and his partner in crime, Nicholai. We'll be commencing attacks whenever I get around to it. For those concerned, only Methrage and Nicholai will be attacked; the rest of MAD is not associated with Methrage's stupidity. My thanks to Aryan83 of DB4D for helping me to sort through this issue. Methrage, when you've tired yourself out from this tomfoolery, feel free to contact us in #nongrata regarding the reps you will be paying me for wasting my time.
I don't know anything about what happened but I approve of this.
 8.
We all know that the last time VE fought a war where they weren't at the winning side of a curbstomp they disbanded. So call it a "VE way of life treaty".
Hey look! A reference to something that happened 4 years ago. Totally a worthwhile reflection on the current leadership of the VE.
 9. I think this is a problem with the game in itself. Let me start off by going through the lifespan of a noob joining this game:

Hey look, a simulation game, looks like fun.
Cool, my government can have positions on political ideas.
Hey, look at that, I have got a message saying I should join x.
Mmhh.. another recruitment message from Y.
And now A,B,C, and D have sent me recruitment messages.
Lets get back to the game and buy some land so that my nation looks bigger on the map!
No real advancements or interactions with others. Looks like this is a numbers game...
Now this is where people lose interest. The sim game turns out to be a numbers game and about as interesting as accounting. Now there are two options;

This game is boring, bye.
Let's go and talk to this recruiter over here.
This is a politics simulator in my opinion. The people that play this game right are the ones who are interested in helping out your own alliance, protecting friends or advancing a political goal. See a couple of posts above me; "Disband GOD is a good place to start.". That is why people play. What got me interested in politics over nation building was when VE was attacked by GGA a long long time ago. If this hadn't happened I would have quit this boring infra farming game. The majority of this game is played in chatrooms, on these forums, and on alliance forums. The least part of this game is going to www.cybernations.net and collecting taxes, finding trades (which also happens outside of the game). As a matter of fact, the people that only go to www.cybernations.net to play the game are considered to be the people who are least active and least interested in the game. When you are just starting to play you don't want to learn how to use IRC. You don't want to join some guys alliance. You don't want to play politics, you want to create a nation and buy land. That is what this game says it should be on the tin. TL;DR: people come expecting a nation simulation game, turns out that cybernations is actually a community based politics simulator. I think this game can only be saved by integrating the community into the game and by recognizing that this isn't a nation building game. Either turning it into a nation building game or turning it into an actual politics simulator. With integrating I would mean that an alliance would have a list of treaties on cybernations.net, or you would automatically be in your alliance's private chatroom by being on cybernations.net. Maybe having a sort of alliance message system in game. I've always found it surprising that the only part of the game on cybernations.net that concerns itself with alliances is that you can set your AA to anything you want.
 10.
Schattenmann vs Impero
I was gonna write this, but I thought it would be unfair as I am VE and personally dislike anything Schattenmann, but I guess it is ok if others say it.
 11.
No offense D34th, but remember that time Polaris couped ES? If you dislike alliances who coup leaders (even though ES was not democratically elected, he was the leader of Polaris), then why are you still in Polaris? In fact, Tyga- an ex-member of Polaris took part in the couping of ES in order to install a new Emperor. also, En Taro Adun!! Good luck guys, ya'll really do have an excellent line up and I know you will bring Grämlins back up to their former glory.
I love how D34th stopped posting after this post. I do think it is a sort of coup, but not all coups are bad by default. If there is someone who takes control of a successful alliance and destroys it to the point where it is but a shell of its former self then that is a good reason to take control of that alliance.
 12. Looks like we have a new strongest bloc on CN. Schattenmann will be around shortly to complain about whatever you do. (I wish, he has already complained about VE in this thread...) This is an awesome bloc guys. I wish you good luck.
 13. This is some hilarious stuff right here. Avalon had 3 guys attack VE on the 29th. Avalon and VE reach white peace soon thereafter. The only reasonable explanation; VE got scared. I love the way the OWF works. One day we are blood-thirsty, the other we peace out too fast. One day we are spy masters for discovering spies, the other schatt spies on his enemies and nobody makes a peep. Ah well... Good luck to Avalon!
 14.
Do you know what I like about me? I have philosophies and ideals that guide my actions, and I'm consistent on them. One of those ideals is a foreign policy that is congruent with internal policy: Whammy. I [still] for one applaud and laud RIA's decision to conduct its own affairs in its own interests! Are you guys bored? You want a war to save the planet from imploding under the weight of boredom caused by lack of war? Curbstomps never were and still are not the answer. Hate to break it to you, PB and Dh--I mean VE managed to lose over 30 nations in a winning war. Your overlapping, illogical, wub-based treaties are the cause, and getting rid of them is the solution. VE has never, ever, once in its entire history understood this concept. Ever. Consequently, VE has gone around decrying PZI while backslapping PZIers, talking high morality about curbstomps while propping up curbstompers. On and on and on. In this very thread you continue to demonstrate your basic inability to understand the way a foreign policy works. That has been my criticism of VE for years and if my crystal ball is still working, it will continue to be my criticism of VE for years to come. VE doesn't get it.

The posts in this thread from VE to the effect that RIA should never ever have cancelled their treaty because they're friends and have been to war together are so childish that I can barely believe that I'm seeing them, even from VE. Can I expect reinstatement of VE's NPO and NpO treaties next week? Friends aren't allowed to have different goals and aims? If VE's idea of friendship is so shallow as to be nothing but goose-stepping in perfect unison forever and never questioning things, then it's no wonder they're losing friends so fast. Newsflash, VE: You're not that good. Your selling point is PB, and--surprise--it just so happens that not everyone is in the market for that.
I get the first post, where you complain about VE's lack of enforcement of our ideals when it comes to choosing allies. (like not minding that our allies don't sign the ZIPP) This has been a frequent complaint of yours, as you said yourself. This is why the second post surprised me. Could you elaborate on what you meant? Also, sucks that this treaty was cancelled. Sadly this thread has to be followed by the usual anti-VE lynchmob that is expected on the OWF.
So that's a "no." Pity, you lost a good friend. I mean, when you say there were no more questions, and then RIA reveals that there were several, it signals to everyone out here in TV Land that you either thought that the concerns of RIA membership were beneath you, or that you didn't care enough about the relationship to stay on top of the thread.
How about you let RIA decide how they feel instead of putting words in their mouth?
 15.
Also, null vote in light of the fact that the first two options have a 'When did you stop beating your wife?' feel to them.
This. You could easily argue it isn't a defection since he left after NSO got peace. He also left in accordance with his governments wishes.
 16.
Perhaps we should start shooting some similar "lighthearted jokes" right back at your side of the fence?
Wasn't that how this entire thing got started. Spy got caught followed by an "It was a joke I swear"
 17.
Nobody cares methrage, go away.
I second this. I also wholy agree with the following:
I wish your nation and your posting on these forums would stop. It isn't even funny.
I think that perfectly summarizes what I think of methrage and his "alliance"
 18.
Flash forward a few days to the NpO front. The main front of the war. VE, FOK, iFOK, PC, and countless other major alliances all engaged. This front has been going on for more than a month and a half at this point, and people want it over. Understandably so, and even more shocking are the terms: peace, just don't reenter and help NPO. Quite reasonable. A lot more reasonable than most any of us ever expected to see when this thing kicked off. Pretty much everyone is happy with those terms, except for one person. Enter Xiphypoo, a man with a fancy for disbanding alliances. It always has been his fantasy to disband someone it seems. Goes all the way back to Karma when he wanted to disband AB, but wasn't allowed to. He complains bitterly whenever any of his allies let anyone off with anything less than disbandment (oh, the gall they have). Well, this time he doesn't have to put up with that sort of nonsense. This time he's going to get what he wants. That's right, the reason none of you can peace out is due to one man and his insane desire to "make an example" out of UPN. UPN is by no means a good alliance. Quite frankly they're awful. But what reason does anyone have to disband them, and for what? For the detestable action of defending a long time ally? Is there any purpose or any gain to getting rid of UPN? I can't think of one. All that comes to mind for me is the loss of a valuable source of comedy. Not to mention it takes a complete arse to fantasize breaking up a community, but I digress. So, dear denizens, what makes these two alliances so awful? Is there any logic to their awfulness? Were they created awful, or what it thrust upon them?
I missed this thread and I am glad I did, because now I can read this prediction along with knowledge of how events unfolded at the same time. You never fail to amuse RV. You may think that is a good thing but it isn't. (assuming that you want to be taken seriously) Edit: I can have pretty colours too
 19.
I'll just leave this here, not rick roll.
A bit harsh, don't you think. And very meaningless as well. F*** VE Does that seem like something a smart person would say or is that something a troll says?
 20.
So where does attacking your OTP's come into play?
It doesn't. How about writing your post a little more like this:
What about attacking OTP's that comes into play like this: [...]
Do you expect me to state your argument against my position myself?
 21.
You're saying you didn't know? Everyone else did. It had been in the works for months at that point. This was back in the day when people used to plan wars for months using diplomacy, instead of now where you guys like to launch with 24 hours notice.
SO WHAT?! How the hell is that relevant? Even if this were true, which it isn't, how does that make attacking our protectorate ok? You guys attacked a protectorate of your MADP partner giving 90 minutes notice. Not two months, not 24 hours, but 90 minutes. And this wasn't the amount of time your give your enemies, it was the amount of time given to your allies. I am pretty sure that isn't ok. Even if we knew you were getting rolled (which we didn't) it wouldn't change the fact that you guys decided to decimate our allies. In any other circumstance rolling a protectorate like that will get you rolled in less than a day.
<+electron_sponge>[To Ardus, lord of the VE at the time] #1 Your cancelling that treaty was some childish !@#$%^&* and our members want you guys dead
The arrogance. We cancel a treaty and we are the bad guys? We decide who we ally ourselves to and who we don't ally ourselves to makes us childish? We all know how those negotiations ended, and as I said before I regret that I have to dig up ancient history but I will do so for as long as you pretend that Polaris never did anything wrong. You attacked an MADP partners protectorate with 90 whole minutes as a warning. Allies don't attack each others protectorates, only enemies do. We had every reason to cancel our treaty and in the events after that you only gave us more reasons.
<+electron_sponge>[Again to Ardus] I suggest you go $%&@ yourself
And please don't whine about me bringing up the 90 minutes build-up since it isn't relevant today because you thought that bringing up the two months build-up was relevant. I truly regret having to bring this up but I will do so for as long as people pretend it is relevant today. (Which it isn't to neither side, unless you want to know which side prefers rewriting history)
 22.
That said, there is nothing inherently wrong about attacking without negotiations if you think the weight of your evidence is so great, but if that were the case I wouldn't expect to hear you defending your willingness to negotiate.
That is the entire point. We believe the charges against NpO to be so straightforward and obvious that we think the amount of diplomacy utilised was appropriate. When someone tells you "We found a spy and you guys told him to spy on us" the proper response isn't "the information he gave us wasn't good so we didn't think we needed to tell you that one of your members has the intent to spy on you.". In fact, that is the response of someone who is waiting for better information, or who doesn't care to inform other alliances that they have got spies in them. The very moment Dajobo knew that Lennox was serious with regards to spying (which normally would be right after the moment lennox joins his said target alliance under the credentials provided by himself, but you could also argue it is the moment lennox feeds you information) You should know that this isn't going along with a joke and that this is no longer accepting unsolicited information, but it is actively spying. The key word is unsolicited. The difference between this and karma is that Dajobo was directly involved with the spying. He chose the nation name/ruler of the spy, the target alliance of the spy and accepted information from the spy. I don't see how this isn't spying. Sure, NpO would like you to believe that Dajobo was only joking and that Lennox couldn't have been serious. Well it became serious as soon as Lennox rerolled with the credentials provided to him by Dajobo. At this point he should have realised that this wasn't some joke. When he was fed information he should have known with 100% certainty that this wasn't a joke any more. Yes, Lennox did this with the intention of luring NpO into a war. Yes, the information fed to NpO was provided by VE leadership. This doesn't change the fact that Dajobo had no problem with letting an individual spy on the VE. It doesn't matter that the information was bogus. It doesn't matter that Lennox did this with the intent of luring NpO into a war. If you try to buy drugs from an undercover cop, and he arrests you, you can't say "it wasn't a drugdeal because the cop had no drugs and he never intended to give me any drugs" Also, I regret that I still have to bring this up;
That's a load of crock if I've ever heard it. You, like everyone else, knew Polar was getting rolled long before the 1V and VE and all the other treaty cancellations. FIST was just an excuse you were able to use to finally cancel it, and justify it then and now. Had FIST not happened we'd probably have seen something along the lines of "lack of communication." Keep trying though.
How long will it take for people to get this. YOU DON'T ATTACK YOUR ALLIES PROTECTORATE! You just don't. Especially not if you hold an MADP with that ally. But I suppose everything we could have done would be criticised.

We join in on the fight for FIST; we are backstabbers to our MADP partner NpO.
We join in on the fight for NpO; we are backstabbers who raid our own protectorates.
We cancel on NpO; we are backstabbers who knew the WOTC was going to happen 2 months beforehand.
We cancel on FIST; our protectorate agreements are worth nothing since we don't protect the alliances that sign one with us.
We don't cancel on anyone; our protectorate agreements are worth nothing since we don't protect the alliances that sign one with us.
You don't put allies in a really crappy position like that.

Man, it was a total holocaust. That holocaust was apparently started by a group of campers who weren't careful. Get your head out of your ass. You know what holocaust means and it's contemporary usage. Nobody gives a damn that the word holocaust used to refer to destruction by fire. If I say "My grandfather died in a holocaust" Not a single soul on this planet will say "Oh, wasn't he careful when he lit his fireplace?" Everybody will know what it means because we all know what the holocaust is. Or would you rather forget it so you can play your little game of being the victim? I don't care. You can be all sad and pathetic, and I will pretend to care about you. I will call your cause just and your leaders shining beacons of excellence, just don't trivialise the holocaust. You know exactly what I mean and trying to e-lawyer your way out of it just shows your lack of respect.
 25. Can we stop calling it CN holocaust. Holocaust isn't a synonym for mass murder, it is a specific event. I don't like it when people equate the killing of millions of jews to losing some infra. Calling this a holocaust is very very offensive. Also, how is this comparable to the holocaust. No calls for extermination (pzi or ezi), both sides are a military force, whereas the holocaust had the nazi military versus a group of people who had no chance. This war is pretty even, and no where near as uneven as hordes of people stuck from train carts into brick buildings, into metal "showers". You want to make a statement? Fine, call it the VE AND DOOMHOUSE SUCK, AND NpO/NPO ARE THE BEST war. Just don't call this the "CN Holocaust"
