1. Yikes, seeing TBB still on here after all these years in original form is a throw back. Hello fellow CNers.
2. Yikes, I didnt even realize people from the original FCC were around, Maine and Methrage, hope you guys are doing well.
3. I really miss having to deal with New Gramlins.
4.
We have the IPs. We know who did it. It wasn't a keylogger.
Report them to the relevant authorities, hackers get taken down regularly for hacking across borders; while it does take a higher degree of criminality to have taken place, reporting it is just as important because while one instance may not get the fool taken down, enough of them together probably would. I gathered it wasn't a key logger after reading the thread. Not trying to insult people's intelligence about Limewire, just saying it's the majority of what I saw causing system compromises.
5. I'm going to venture to guess that you got hit with a keylogger. I did at one time too and all that got taken was an old unused WoW account, my current one remained intact(Yay authenticator). I suggest you approach internet information security better by not going to unfamiliar links on these forums and others, most of them have keyloggers programmed into the site. Another thing to stay away from is Limewire, which I hear so many people use it makes me sort of sickly satisfied, because the majority of computers I had to repair at my old job were nothing but virus laden computers because the customers chose to download everything they could from file sharing sites and not scan them with decent antivirus software. Most people don't realize that Anti-viruses only real job is to prevent the initial infection, not clean a computer of an infection. I've used a number of antivirus systems and each one never wholly cleaned out an infection, I had to rely on third party sites(white hat hackers) who created utilities to remove the entirety of my infections. With a keylogger it doesn't matter how complex or random your passwords are, you're screwed simply because your system is compromised.
6. Humm aid as in, I need an oil and lead trade so I can get microchips and do a direct tech buy; the guy I found who looks promising is in CSN, while he is not at war, his alliance is; thus I can promise him aid for the temporary deal only when CSN exits the war, as I don't want to piss off NSO, who CSN is attacking or anyone else on NSO's side; as well as it would be seen as re-entering the war, which was part of our surrender terms, even though it would ostensibly be on the 'correct' side and not against the greater spirit of the terms. At least he's a small nation and could use Coal and Wheat to a large degree to help him grow quicker, for a few days. I'm just glad with the sanction feature attacking one's trading partners through use of senators has not become SOP during war. But who knows, maybe we'll see that happen sooner than later, when alliances/blocs aren't happy enough with engaging in random beat downs because their egos got bruised on a forum and in diplomacy and they actually want to cripple their targets entirely and make their wars that easier. I'll feel sorry for those who eventually are targeted, but probably will be surprised by the sheer volume of public outcry will practically destroy the reputation of the aggressors and make them an anathema on the world stage. The only alliance that could carry out such a thing would have to either not care about their public reputation and their treaty partners appearances by being connected to them/supporting them; which limits the possibilities to only a handful of alliances. Also, Serious Cat is serious!
7.
Well I don't know for sure how much you spent, but you're probably closer to a years worth of bills now. I'm just sorry I didn't get you down to 15k infra like you had mentioned Pretty close though.
I made the mistake after KARMA to buy up to 18k infra but not bring my tech levels up to par, so I was way outclassed at upper levels against most probable opponents; and after 16k infra there really isn't that much benefit going higher.
8.
I'm just glad I never had to fight those beasts you had up around 10k tech. Wouldn't have been fun. Good fight you guys, glad I get to peace out with Jhouserok, his warchest never would have run out.
Oh it wasn't that much. I didn't have a year worth of bills like I could have. Also I was hoping to get some tiger loving but never saw any. D:
9. There's not really any problem with it, there's just propaganda spin. Had TOP/IRON engaged somewhere else they'd probably have been hit by C&G alliances regardless. And Vlad is pretty perceptive as to why the idea of two different wars being pushed.
10. I see it as the same war, with the war between NpO and \m/ as a feint to get TOP/IRON engaged and the go all Hulk Smash on them, considering the multiple engagements of C&G/SF alliances and no cancellations of treaties to the NpO by alliances in said blocs, and knowing the desire to destroy TOP harbored by some in said blocs; i see the likely hood of such a ploy as nearly certain when coupled with the rushed peace out by NpO less than an hour after TOP's engagement. Masterful execution, glad I'm sitting it all out, I like being neutral and trying to observe and predict strategies. *Obligatory Admiral Akbar 'It's a Tarp' picture here*
11. I saw it said in earlier in the thread, the CNARF references, but I wholly approve of Polar's actions here, so I'll add a Snarf.
12. Right before the second Polar war between the NPO and the NAAC, which saw the creation of the NpO.
13. I never thought I'd have a reason to hail the Sith, IRON yes, but not the Sith. o/ NSO
14. This is the perfect example of why I do not use IRC, or support trusting RV to keep things secret, as much as i like his character.
15. Far too many years than you should have been around; now the obligatory trolling post is out of the way. Gartz to TOP!
16. I think this perhaps is the best TLDR I've ever read, and it's sad to see Trace have to step aside, but again there are more important things out there.
17. It's rather interesting to see all the TOP loving going on in a BAPS related thread from those they fought beside; have fun guys, and good luck on the rebuilding BAPS.
18. Honestly, never have understood the taboo of suggesting applying to an alliance in the disbandment announcement of another alliance; one is dead and one is still around, thus if one would like to be in an alliance I would think the more options they are aware of the better. But really, meh.
19. Well Mogar is rather off on the idea of having OBR in Citadel. The discussions on which included OBR, were held when the formation of Citadel was occuring, back on the DOVE boards(pre-Citadel planning forum), and has been brought up casually in passing only a scant number of times since by people casually reminiscing about things in the past. I don't believe there has been a serious suggestion regarding OBR and Citadel for nearly a year and a half now or more. Anyhow, I'm gracious that OG was given peace, though I will admit the conduct of some during part of this conflict left me rather inflamed.
20. Above all else, having been in the game since just before PWII, I can honestly say out of all the things I miss the greatest frankly is Ivan Moldavi; love him or hate him, he was one of the single most polarizing personalities inhistory, he was never apologetic about his actions whether you thought him right or wrong, you always knew where you or your alliance stood with him, and he was never bashful about reminding you about his and the NPO/NpO's dominance. Cybernations as a game is just not the same without him. I harkon for the days of yore.
21. Oh noes, it'll take five days to fully switch over using the old defcon cycling method, it would appear that defcon cycling is useless now, that's ok.
22. I live in Colorado, and both addresses are having very slow performance. Let me run a trace or two and see what I come up with. Ok, it seems to be a problem as my ISP's servers are attempting to communicate with the first server from atlas.cogentco.com and the third server on there, from the same company. I use Qwest DSL, so perhaps people with this ISP are having similar issues.
23. Last two to three days the game has been responding either slowly, or hanging on me while trying to do many different actions, I know the information is processed, but the next page will not reload until a minute + after I've submitted my action. Don't know if this has been brought to your attention yet, I glanced over this forum before posting, sorry if it's a repost.
24. I just paid 3M for temp trades with people to help them out and to infra jump, it was well worth it. I'm also presently paying someone for a uranium/rubber trade that supplemented my infra jump and to help me finish nuking up. So really, it's best if you're going to pay for the trade, agree upon the terms of the trade first. Hell, I had someone from MK decline my money/temp trade proposal because they thought I wouldn't be making that much money if I jumped from 4999 infra, they thought they were doing me a favor. That guy was out 3M dollars because he was stupid.
