  1. Has admin confirmed this? And since I already have over 20 nukes, would the 21st automatically become immune to spy attacks if I purchased hidden nuclear missile silo or only the ones I purchased after getting the wonder?
  2. Hidden Nuclear Missile Silo - $30,000,000 - Allows your nation to develop +5 nuclear missiles that cannot be destroyed in spy attacks. Does that mean that I can purchase 5 additional nukes with wonder and those nukes cannot be destroyed by spies or does it just increase the current limit of 20 nukes by 5 and make the last 5 nukes I have immune to spy attacks? Or in other words: will I have two nuke limits, the current limit and a separate limit for nukes that are safe from spies? This only concerns nations that have the old maximum amount of nukes.
  3. I've fought in my share of wars since the middle of February 2006. I participated in my first nuclear war months before you had even started playing CN and I'm not counting the Citrus War since only two nukes were fired back then. Trust me, it doesn't involve as much strategy as conventional warfare. And you CAN collect during the 19 days if you have to, it all depends on the situation. Arguing about this any further is pointless. Just one more thing: never underestimate others.
  4. You won't have to launch a nuke every day, but you can buy one every day easily. Putting the enemy in to anarchy involves right now absolutely no strategy for nations with nukes. You press the big red button, they go to anarchy. It's as simple as that. If your alliance is at all organized you will be triple teaming targets and if the target has attacked one of your nations you might have 4 of your own fighting against him. Now how many nukes on average do you need to get one through? 2.5 (I accidentally used the original 75% change to stop nukes in my last calculations). Even if you were just triple teaming your target you could buy more than enough nukes per day to get one through their defenses. If you plan your attacks all of you get 2 unblockable ground attacks per day since nukes remove all defenses. While nukes do add some strategy to the game (that can be understood by toddlers) their too high profile takes away even more. Why would I bother having an army since my squad of boy scouts will do just as much damage to the defenseless enemy? Why would I pay for tanks and soldiers when the enemy will destroy them with won mouse click without giving me any chance to defend my self? Can I keep my enemy in anarchy for 19 days? Why not? Nukes cost nothing and I'd be fighting the enemy with my allies who would also have free nukes. All of us press the silly button at least once per day and they'll never get out of anarchy. Running out of nukes isn't going to be a problem since out of the about 60 nukes we'd start with would on average hit 36 and during 19 days we could buy a total of 57 nukes if we really felt like we needed them. Out of those 34 would hit. If we wanted to spare our nukes we would hit every 4 days... and be able to purchase even more nukes. We're looking at the enemy spending the rest of eternity in nuclear anarchy I wouldn't even need to use a single brain cell. While they're in anarchy they won't be able to use spies to decom our missiles or do anything else nasty so we win even more. So what are we looking at? A no brainer super weapon that makes soldiers, tanks and spies pretty much useless... I've participated in destroying alliances with just conventional attacks. Some planning and a swift attack is all it takes to put the enemy in to anarchy, but at least they got a chance to defend themselves unlike against nukes.
  5. Nice scenario Steelrat... So alliance A had enough funds to purchase 300 SDI for just 22500M, but didn't have enough funds to purchase 4200 more nukes? Makes sense... And since B hasn't purchased SDI they should have 22500M more cash than A, or they're and smaller alliance and would get crushed anyway. Wonders are supposed to help countries and that's what SDI does. It's only thing that makes defending in wars even theorethically possible. Your enemy can of course use the same amount of cash to purchase 75 nukes of which on average 45 will hit you. The biggest problem is the current war system. Everyone plans to get their enemy into anarchy and bill lock, and there's nothing wrong with that, but nukes are pretty much the only reasonable way to do it. With conventional armies you need *grasp* strategy to get your enemy into anarchy, but if you have nukes you can just press the el stupido button. What about destroying infra and bill locking? You could always fight fierce and interesting battles and grind his nation into dust after destroying his army in a portrayl of your military genius... or you could just press the obtuse button and then attack a defenseless nation. Since everyone seems to oppose war involving actual battles and strategies that don't involve nukes, why not bring back the old nuke effects? Surely you would appreciate the requirements of skill and strategy needed to weild the nukes of ye olde time CN? 50% uncapped infra and land damage plus the usual damage to soldiers (more like "soldiers? where? oooh, you mean the dust!").
  6. Let's see: Uranium - it's a fine resource... to get through trades. When you purchase nukes you want to get rid of it since it's a waste of a good resource slot. Furst - just like gold... with bigger income bonus Gold - decent for tech sellers, horrible for everyone else If you have anything else you can go for one of the good&popular resource sets, but if you've got Gold or Furs you can pretty much just quit playing unless you can find extremely friendly people to trade with (or tech cows if you have gold). Those with Uranium have to rely on finding new people who need to purchase nukes all the time. The resource system is and has always been the worst part of CN. There has been lots of talk about it since the last time resources were added and even before it. That's almost two years. It's about time something is done about it instead of just implementing bonus resources which boost the already overpowered resources.
  7. Conventional warfare is quite silly right now since everyone will just use the big red button to destroy all defending forces and cause instant anarchy. Nukes are simply overpowered, not as silly as they originally were, but still overpowered. SDI balances the game and adds some requirements for strategy and makes having multiple nukes more useful. We used to be able to fight wars with just soldiers and there's no reason why battles shouldn't be important again. Conventional battles are lot more fun and involve more strategy than pressing the silly button once per day. We could of course agree to a compromise that would suit your need for a battle system requiring great military genius: whenever a war nation declares war on another both immediately go into nuclear anarchy and lose all of their soldiers and 150 infra and the same happens at every update until the war expires.
  8. So large nations are easy to bill lock, but very hard to destroy. That makes sense when you think about it.
  9. Here is an alternative suggestion to fix FAC: keep it at the current price and aid bonus, but only require the reciever to have it and make it an improvement or just keep it as a wonder and let us purchase 5 of them. Yet another option is to make it affect the maximum amount of soldiers that can be sent. If I was in anarchy and bill locked and didn't have enough soldier, I'd rather recieve 2-3k per aid slots rather than have people make fun of my by offering aid packets of 4.5M that do nothing. 2k soldiers > 4.5M cash. der_ko: nukes cost nothing, but cause really expensive damage. For just 1M you can easily destroy 30-40M worth of infra. Wars should primarily be fought with armies, not big red buttons. The SDI is just fine. Like admin said, you can launch one succesful nuke per day. If you want to get through the SDI, launch multiple nukes. Nukes shouldn't be an automatic "I win" button that destroy all defenses. Paying 75M for a chance to stop your 1M weapon is in no way unbalanced.
  10. Magicman657: right now big nations can't aid each other during since 3M aid is as good as no aid. 4.5M is still nothing and even 6M isn't enough to pay infra upkeep. +50% aid sounds like a lot... for nation that can't afford FAC. Once you can afford it you're still not going to buy it since it doesn't do anything except cost 5k per day (which is nothing, but you get the point). 9M aid would help a nation survive one more day during a war. I'd be ready to pay 50M for the ability to recieve aid, since right now I can only use aid slots to send pocket chance to small nations and recieve tech every once in a while.
  11. +1M per 1000 infra would make the wonder almost useful. Right now it gives just +50% which translates to 4.5M total aid per slot. That simply isn't worth it when just infra upkeep is over 6.5M per day with 5 labor camps. Big nations should be able to aid each other instead just sending pocket change.
  12. Federal Aid Commission is totally useless, at least for everyone who can actually afford it since just 1.5M extra doesn't make any difference. If it was +500% it might be almost worth considering. At least then people could actually send enough aid for the other nation to pay more than half a day's bills. Other than that the wonders are fine.
  13. Any two of the following resources: Aluminum, Cattle, Fish, Iron, Lumber, Marble, Pigs, Spices, Sugar, Water, Wheat.
  14. thewho: before a few nations like this one had 1/3 or 1/4 of my infra and had about as much or even more NS than I... On the other hand, NS has never made any sense. Master-Debater: Tech has always been mainly used for bloating NS and boosting ego. It was bad even for that since it's just a short term boost. Infra on the other is used by intelligent players who want the best long term return for their money. Tech is after all only useful for a little happiness bonus and discounts on infra upkeep in the late game (and for fighting of course...). There were people who bloated their NS even before the Great War and you know what happened? I and some others bought infra gained NS faster than anyone else. If you want NS buy infra, that's why I accidentally got into top10 before the GW. After that I ate nukes and took a dive... As for resources: mine have sucked since late February/early March 2006 when admin first added someone new resources and tweaked old ones.
  15. Before this change nations with huge amounts of infra could attack nations with even lower infra levels than they have now. Those with lots of infra generally understand that NS means absolutely nothing. Stop complaining about NS and look at the other effects of the change. Tech is now better than ever.
  16. Donations are as good as ever and now that admin has given tech a boost, the prices won't go down. 6M is probably an ok price for a donation. I've paid 9M since I hate having to search and wait for donations.
  17. Infra has always been the way to get powerful. Nation have bought tech just to bloat their NS and feel powerful. NS is just a number and doesn't tell anything about your nation. The change made tech actually good instead of just increasing a meaningless number on a webpage. The less NS tech gives, the better it is. If tech gave 0 NS, I'd immediately invest hundreds of millions in it. All the facts you need: Technology decreases infrastructure upkeep costs up to a maximum 10% discount based on the following formula: (2 * Technology Level) / Nation Strength = Percent off infrastructure upkeep bill. I was going to get 2000 more tech anyway, now I'll probably get even more.
  18. I'm too lazy to read all of the posts, but this is my opinion: Stop complaining. Admin just made tech even better than it was. Bad winners are the only thing worse than bad losers. The less NS tech gives the better it is: Technology decreases infrastructure upkeep costs up to a maximum 10% discount based on the following formula: (2 * Technology Level) / Nation Strength = Percent off infrastructure upkeep bill.
  19. You forgot the laws of supply and demand... and all possible modifiers. At around 8830 infra, 10 units cost me 2.3M. That's 1.4M less than in your table.
