1.
Did VE approve this?
We did as a matter of fact. We wanted to fight some more people.
 2.
To be honest, I only ever dealt with you one time, but you were exceedingly courteous, and it was a pleasant experience. I wish you nothing but the best.
I remember that time. It was good working with ya.
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo dont leave us felix, i always had a soft spot for all the Elysium members, we'll keep the light on if you ever decide to come back.
While I wish that merge never happened, I will admit I met some cool people and had a decent time. Glad to see you made it back here, Mogar.
Felix, you've been drinking. Sleep it off and reconsider.
Nope, no drinking here. I remembered I forgot a few shoutouts, so here the last few go: Ayrrie: I've always got some angus for you. ;D Also, turtle mochas are still delicious. Drunk Monkey: I've heard your around somewhere still. Sorry things with ZH went south. It sucks we lost contact after we went our separate ways. It was always cool talking with you.
 3. Well, I've been meaning to make this post for awhile now. I haven't been really forum active in months, and I'm thinking most people can guess the culprit. The last few months, I've been occupied with graduating college, moving to a new state, starting a new job, and getting engaged. I haven't had a lot of time or energy for CN, and I don't really see that changing anytime soon (if ever). I realize that 99% of the people who read this will care less, but I'm posting this for the few people out there I've lost touch with. Deathcat: It should be obvious why he's the first on my list. If you don't know deathcat, you don't know one of the nicest, coolest, cheffiest guys in the game. DC, you've always been an upbeat person to talk to, even when things were all against you. If I had a way to help you out, believe me I would. Thanks for everything, especially the recipes. I still love making those garlic parmesan chicken bites. oo/ Mhawk: Elysium was pretty much the first alliance I got truly involved in. It was a blast. I'll be honest and say that most times the way you led was a tad irritating, but I understand why you did it that way. I still think that the TPF merge was a mistake, but c'est la vie. Seattle is still one of my favorite cites, and I hope I can return some day. Hope things work out with you. Beernuts: I don't think you're around anymore, but on the chance you still are, it was a blast chilling with you on skype the few times we did. GLU: You gave me a chance to do a lot of FA stuff. Thanks, I really did appreciate the chance to shine. Mia: I figured if I didn't mention you, you'd say something like "How could you not mention me?" Consider yourself mentioned! Lusitan / Duncan King: Thanks for all of your help when I started Nevermore. I wish PnL Train could have worked out longer, but all good things must come to an end. Seriously though, you guys were awesome. Septer/Anubis/Mythology: I've saved the last spot for you. I wish Nevermore could have taken off better than it did, and I can't help but feel I could have done more to make things work out. Thanks for riding that out with me though. It was one of the better times I had in the game. I regret not joining you in The Dalek Empire, of course hindsight is 20/20. That should pretty much be it. Sorry if I forgot to mention you. It doesn't mean I didn't like you, just that you slipped my mind while I typed this up. I've done a lot of stuff since I've been here. I joined Legion the week of the whole disbandment crisis, I got to be the vote that removed Nowedge from his senate spot, tried creating my own alliance, met some cool people, and made friends along the way. It was a good ride, but I plan to have my nation stick around to help with a trade circle, because $%&@ having to deal with trades. I hated it, and this way I can help 5 nations avoid having to mess with it. If you want to keep in touch, send me a message here and I'll hook you up with a screen name or something. Peace out y'all.
 4.
No, that's not necessarily true. A dissident member/spy is someone who had been in the alliance as a normal member and then leaks something he doesn't like. A regular spy is someone sent for the sole purpose of spying. Their spy joined during the war, he posted that he wants an apology from CoJ and at the same time sent his spied intel to CoJ. That's just old fashioned spying, nothing else.
You must not have been around too long. A lot of alliances attacked for spying have done so based on a CB provided by a "dissident member." Honestly though, this whole thing is just silly. As much as it pains me to say, I've got to side with Schatt on this one. It doesn't matter how ODN views tech deals during war, if CoJ views it as a war-worthy type of offense then they can act as they see fit. This kind of reminds me of the events leading up to the 6mil war in a few ways.
 5.
"dissident members"? So that's what someone sent over in the middle of a war to spy is called these days. I remember when they used to be called... spies. And we'll make sure to supply many more (orange) "juicy stories", afterall we aim to please.
One alliances' dissident member is another alliances' spy. It has pretty much always been that way.
 6.
What is this I dont even... You guys are bailing on AcTi because some of your allies ex-members made an alliance and decided to raid AcTi? Way to be there for AcTi when they needed you most
Holy !@#$, you could not be more wrong. Seriously, wow...
 7. It does appear a FA consolidation is afoot. Interesting. I am certainly curious where this will take you guys.
 8. What draconian tech deals! New hegemony indeed!
 9.
I mean better communities. Obviously, we don't have as much tech or infra or upper-tier nations that they have. I mean the quality of who we are, not who's going to be extorting cash from who. And I don't just mean 'our side.' There are better alliances across the spectrum. RIA is better, RoK is better, even FAN is better (FAN actually is just about as great as you can be in this regard). I just don't have respect for weak alliances who disband at the first sign of trouble. They're even worse than those who jump ship (MHA, Sparta, ODN, etc). And the kicker is that they all re-formed under the watch of Pacifica, often under the direct protection of the hegemony of the time (GOONS, notably, reforming under the joint protection of Pacifica and Polaris). Allowing them to come back into the world was perhaps one of the bigger mistakes made by the old hegemony. Showing goodwill has always been a weakness of, well, of what is left of "our side," as this shattered corner of the web hasn't been any sort of a threat to the current hegemony for years. But alas, no good deed shall go unpunished, as they say.
Goodwill? Is that the same goodwill that disbanded alliances?
 10. Congrats to everyone who was (re)elected, especially Timberland.
 11. I always find the differences in each sides' story fascinating. It is still disappointing to lose an ally, but I wish only the best for RIA. See y'all later.
 12. I look forward to This Week in Virida. I want to know how the small things, like banking and tech deals, are going in the alliance.
 13.
Wow, I can't teach the blind to see... I'm not a miracle worker. But seriously? Goldie stating they complained a lot, and then saying VE had RIA's back in SF, but didn't think RIA supported VE... I would say that would be a criticism and question of loyalty, respectively. And I fail to see how, under any circumstance, impero saying RIA didn't talk to VE at all is anything short of a pot-shot at their diplomatic tact. Come on now, you had to be joking. And now, I vanish from this thread.
Its okay, I can't teach you to see either. You could teach me a thing or two about stretching though. Long runs always seem to make me cramp up, so I could use the tips.
 14.
I don't need to spin anything... You guys do it all for me. As for the show: 1.) Here's your SoD criticizing RIA for not being loyal and complaining during the war 2.) This is your noble Lord criticizing your former allies diplomacy skills: 3.) Here's one VE members response to the loss of an extremely old ally:
Well, lets see... 1.) I don't see criticizing, I see mostly reminiscing about how things used to be. 2.) I see disappointment with the cancellation reason. 3.) Apathy. Come on, why does every cancellation need to have a "This sucks, but we're still friends!" sort of thing attached to it. Considering the circumstances, I think a little disappointment and such isn't too much to display.
 15. As disappointed as I am about a cancellation reason that boils down to,"We don't like your friends," I must respect the honesty. Happy Trails RIA. May your bacon rationing end soon.
 16.
Oh I get it which is why I had stated before that the other part of change would be to see what happens if NPO wins a war. But to state they have not changed when at least half of what they did (starting curbstomp style wars) has not been done for a couple of years now is basically stating that no alliance ever changes. With your version, even if NPO happened to win a war and give white peace to all involved, then we could state that this may just be a fluke or a ploy. There would never be a chance for any alliance to state they have truly changed. There needs to be a much broader look at what has actually happened before the decision has been made.
There is plenty chance for an alliance to change. They just need the actual chance to demonstrate it, this is the trap that NPO has kind of fell into. To anyone outside their immediate diplomatic circle, their something of a leper. An alliance to be avoided and hated. They don't have the political capital or position to really make any bold moves, or many moves at all. Thus, you have lots of people saying that they haven't changed. Curbstomp wars fit perfectly in this. Saying they haven't done them is proof they have changed is ignorant of the context the original beatdowns took place in, when NPO was in a position of dominance. If they tried to start a war now (well, before this war), they'd have a lot of guns pointed at them, and I think they realize this. This would be included in your broader view. In the end, I don't know if NPO has changed. Are they starting wars stomping people, no. They would be absolutely stupid to do so, which makes that particular point of saying they have changed irrelevant. They could very well be like a scheming drug dealer biding his time until he gets released. Only time will tell. *shrug*
 17.
This would work I suppose except one major flaw. MK demanded reps for the pre-emptive strike against them. That makes it go beyond just simply opposing it. Also, MK members have already stated that the complaining done then was all political, thus already validating that it was something of convenience versus actually opposing it. Despite all that, they still demanded reps.
Welp, I'll concede this point then.
Actually this is pretty much wrong. If someone of action were to become inactive for a long period, most would note that that is a major behavioral change. The same thing occurs with alliances. If we were to rely on clout, then NPO would never regain the clout they once had. Even with them being the victim in this war, they still have not regained much in the way of clout.
Basically what my point is, is that people behave differently when they can get away with stuff. Take a criminal for example. In the Land of Tricks dealing certain drugs will land a person in prison. Now while they are incarcerated they are monitored much closer. If they don't do anything, are they really reformed? It's essentially impossible to tell. The only true test is what happens when they are released into the public.
 18.
The point is that if someone is going to agree to the heaviest and longest reparations ever, they expect to be actually getting some genuine peace out of it. If instead, you are still hated, and will end up being rolled a few months after you finish paying reps, then what's the point of agreeing to them? And in a similar vein, since hate is independent of our top-tier, what's the point of giving it up if we are still going to be hated and end up rolled a few months after they finish getting dismantled?
I would actually agree with you on this whole point. I think it is a valid one. You could look at reparations as the act of "buying" peace if you will. It does nothing to actually ebb any hate towards you, it just removes you from the current conflict before the aggressors get to the point of giving you white peace (or one of the parties disbanding).
 19.
Seriously, you mad... They'd totally sign with Legion.
The plan is to resign with Rok, you guys attack one of our allies with Polar, we attack Polar, and call it a day.
 20.
Ok, but apparently the CB for this war isn't "We just hate NPO". Obviously, DH has just been lying this whole time. Thanks for clearing that up. I bet your friends at DH love it when you contradict them.
He isn't saying that hating you is the CB, so much as he is trying to say that paying reps doesn't make people not hate you. Or in other words, hate is independent of money. It means that just because you paid reps after Karma means that people don't hate you. EDIT: At least that is my interpretation of it.
 21.
in b4 VE-NPO MDAP?
No one would see it coming.
 22.
The problem I see with pre-emptive strikes are that they are inherently hard to classify as anything other than an almost completely unwarranted aggressive attack. Claims can be made but there is no hard evidence or proof that can be provided typically. That is my issue. Now as for NPO changing, it does not all hinge on NPO winning a war and giving light terms or even just white peace (though I freely admit that that is part of whether they have completely changed or not) but part of it is simply that NPO/allies hand a nasty little habit of starting wars for bs reasons and curbstomping their opponents (sound familiar...). The last bit has not been done since Karma. Not even a single war that I can recall. As for the war ending, I agree wholeheartedly with you.
They are essentially bald aggression, but that is why they are risky. The entire point is to enter an offensive war on your own terms rather than have a war declared on you on theirs. Yes, proof is hard to come by, but if one would follow treaty chains, and the two parties would have been fighting anyways, they would come to the conclusion that the attack was a preemptive strike. I agree that NPO can change without winning a war. My point was that until they do, we won't know. We all know actions speak louder than words. As far as curbstomps go, I would rather have a close war than a curbstomp any day. On the topic of the wars being 'bs,'no side is going to say, "Oh darn, you caught us!" when they are being attacked. They're going to throw a fit. It's part of what makes wars fun (the debates and such). That's how the arguments boil down, what "side" am I going to be on this war.
Pre-empts are a vlid strategy, I won't disagree with that. What I have a problem with, is that it is supported when convenient. I think you don't need to be pointed to the sigs.
I dislike the thinking that once you are opposed to something, you must always be opposed to it. It makes everything so static. If someone changes their mind, their a hypocrite or something. If they changed their minds on pre-empts, then fine. If they fall victim to one again, they've lost all right to complain. If they do, then yeah, it would be supporting something when its convenient.
If this were about increasing the excitement for all players like claimed at times, NPO would have received peace by now. And that is another problem I have. This game was exciting when there were even sides. They haven't done anything since Karma, isn't that the biggest evidence they changed?
The absence of action is no indicator that their actions have changed. When they have the ability and clout to act on things again, we shall see if they have changed. Right now, as we can see, they are in a rather precarious spot politically, and this may have prevented them in acting in the way they desire (no matter what type of action that may be).
 23.
Oh I saw the so-called reasons and it appears it is your side that is mentally challenged since none of those reasons are backed up by any actual evidence or support other than rumors, hearsay, and paranoia. If you are mentally unable to understand that NPO has done nothing, absolutely nothing, since Karma to warrant such treatment, then I believe it is time for you to just stop period.
I'm not quite sure what other reasons have been said, but I'd like to examine the whole case behind the pre-empt reason. Now, I think a pre-empt is a valid tactic. As TOP has demonstrated it comes with certain risk. Now from a strategy standpoint, it would have been foolish to let NPO go unconsidered, as such a large chunk of NS could have effected the outcome. I'm not saying what NPO would have done/was planning to do/whatever, as thats knowledge (rumors =/= knowledge) that DH likely didn't have. Doom House, in this particular instance, would have attacked NPO to neutralize a force that could have potentially swung the war. Is there some paranoia in this? Maybe a little, but in all honesty, its impossible to tell if NPO has changed its ways (not just government) until they've actually won a war and let the loser go with light terms. I'm not trying to say that NPO hasn't changed at all, but that there is no really good metric to say either way. From a revenge standpoint, I'll freely admit that the war was unwarranted. I'm sure the true reasons behind the war are out there, but are just obscured. On the other hand they may just be in the minds of the people who signed the war declaration. Hell, there could be multiple reasons, each alliance having its own. In either case, I think its about time that the war just ends. If it was started for the purpose of controlling NPO's NS, and preventing them from swinging the war, then mission accomplished. If its for revenge, I think that a pound of flesh has been taken out.
