  1. Why is that a crappy thing to say? It sounds like a voice of experience. The majority of us can say "As a former ally, I completely understand this decision."
  2. This is long overdue, but I think I can sum up my feelings on this easily: at a time when the treaty web is being hacked to pieces, I have no doubts in signing and announcing a treaty with our friends in Avalanche.
  3. Funny you mention that... that's exactly how I feel since those are the only two alliances I've been in
  4. You're right... I can't possibly think of anything that might ever be announced that wouldn't bode well for NPO.
  5. I was hoping everyone had already forgotten about that.... but thank you for your patience <3 for our friends, allies, and those who have made us stronger. You make planet bob worth living on.
  6. For 110 nations and 20k average NS, 500 nukes is awesome! Way to go, guys. o/
  7. A brilliant political move... seriously. Always good to see allies making love
  8. Nobody is suggesting that Bob doesn't have a right to free speech, just as nobody outside of Nemesis is suggesting that Bob is correct. What we've all been doing is poking holes in his thinly disguised attempt to discredit ARES for staying out of a war that they should not, under any treaty obligations (in terms of either technical wording or clear intent), be involved in. After his argument was thoroughly debunked, you stepped in to remind us all that he is allowed to say whatever he wants. Clearly this is technically correct, but it's not the subject of debate. Bob can say "MK only has 2 actual members, and they've never used nukes in a war." People on OWF say whatever silly things they want, then everyone else gets to point out why they're wrong. Let's keep the logical fallacies and cheap sidesteps to a minimum, okay?
  9. ARES really are a fine bunch and I've had nothing but great dealings with them. As has been repeatedly explained in this thread, spying has long been considered to be an aggressive act. As such, even the strongest MADP would not require ARES's involvement because MADPs usually require one party to notify the other that they are initiating hostile actions. Since ARES was obviously unaware of UDB's spying campaign, ARES is not in any way expected to assist UBD in this matter. The fact that ARES hasn't canceled on UBD and has offered to help them reconstruct after the war speaks volumes for ARES's honor and friendship. Fine bunches do honor their treaties. And ARES has been honoring their treaty... Fine bunches don't, however, go trolling in threads where simple CN protocols have already been explained.
  10. If UBD gives them so much trouble that they need our help, I think we should reconsider our relations with them Kidding, kidding, nothing would make us want to lose MK. Good luck guys, this looks very honorable and just, and hopefully sets the precedent (not that you didn't last time) for future conflicts. Maybe it'll even teach them a lesson?
  11. I was going to leave a witty comment here, but instead I will direct your attention to the parts in bold as it speaks for itself. It's always good to see the subject matter experts coming out to offer a sound analysis. It's a shame I was busy with other things and you beat me to this. At least they had the honesty to publicly say that it had nothing to do with friendship and was all about giving Echelon a more profitable position... at the expense of selling a few allies, of course. Edit: added Ragashingo's post in Caffine's quote.
  12. Isn't this the kind of implied threat that has resulted in such a large, wide-scale public backlash? What's next, threatening to EZI all dissenters? Tactics like this never silence critics, they just force the critics to whisper.
  13. A little early for spring cleaning, but always a good idea!
  14. What is this, "nothing to see here, move along"? You left out a line: "More juicy logs coming soon!"
  15. Congratulations! Good allies and a familiar name make for one sexy treaty
  16. Darn, Umbrella got here before we could post the DoW... Guess it'll have to wait until the next DoE. Congratulations, guys. This is an awesome start for some good friends. I wish you luck, and I already tremble at your average NS.
  17. Congratulations on the birthday, but I don't think you made enough cake.
  18. o/ IODN Been waiting a while to read this announcement!
  19. Thanks, Hizzy reminded me of that one... Apparently I had blocked it out of my memory. Now I have to go back to therapy since you reminded me. Nothing like the memory of three men having their way with you for two weeks.
  20. He's lying, he never hits on us guys... not even when we're obvious about it. He's a total sexist I'd really like the next war to have "we don't like you we want you dead" as the official CB...
  21. First off, let me say that I apologize for both the deluge of emails from our forums and the overly technical explanation in this post. Both are my fault. TL;DR: Our forums have sent out a lot of emails, and we're sorry about that. Nelchael is responsible. I have disabled the email function on our boards until we are moved to a new web host (in the next 24 hours). Technical explanation follows. Due to constant down time, Nueva Vida moved to a new web host several weeks ago. Unfortunately, things have gone downhill since then. Our new host had an email sending limit that was too low for an active forum, and almost all of our users were subscribed to topics and had email notifications for things like private messages enabled. Right after we moved to the new host, we needed to PM diplomats to inform them of some changes we made, and quite a few people used the "reply to all" button. Again, my fault, Diplomats should not have had the ability to PM that many people. Unfortunately, each PM generated a "you have a new PM" email, and being outside of this PM chain, I was unaware this was going on. My mail server refused to send the majority of these emails and queued them for later delivery. The errors returned by my mail server also caused phpBB to queue the emails for delivery in its own queue system. When this was brought to my attention, I cleared the mail server's queue and thought all was well. Unfortunately, I did not know about phpBB duplicating the queue in its own special .php file, and it has since sent out emails en mass, possibly even to people who already requested to not receive emails from our forums. I believe this issue to now be resolved, but I will keep our board's email functions disabled until we are established on the new host and know no other queues exist. Please contact me if you are receiving emails from our board and would like your account to be deleted. Thank you, and again my apologies to anyone for the inconvenience.
  22. For what it's worth, I connect to www.cybernations.net and experienced the same lag problems they were talking about (now fixed). Interestingly, re-clicking links usually brought up the page nearly instantly, but graphics were able to load approximately 30% of the time. So I would have to "View My Nation" about 4 times before it would actually bring it up correctly. Didn't have any problems with forums and I didn't try just connecting to cybernations.net. I didn't think to run a tracert, but I'll make sure to do it and pass it on if it comes up again. I also experienced the same problems in IE and Firefox.
