1.
You are right, its an excellent strategy to avoid war. Now go get em boy! Go get that squirrel, You can do it! Whose a good boy? yes you are, yes you are!
Peace mode arguments? What's this 2006 again? Seriously give it a rest. It was stupid back then, and it has become more stupid since than, since every single friggin alliance sent their people into peace mode at one point or another.
 2.
They got revenge against NV during the War of the Coalition, against FEAR during Karma, and I think they're still looking for Wolfpack. Wolfpack also still exists. I'm not complaining about him holding grudges, but rather him starting wars because of a simple desire for revenge.
Errr mate, i'm not sure what is wrong with you today, but we haven't ever fought with either Fear or NV since the UJW even if we had plenty of opportunities to bandwagon in during one of the big wars if we had wanted to. Aside from that Xiph also hasn't started a single war against the group of alliances which beat us in the UJW so i am not quite sure what you are trying to say here. Yes i don't think anyone denies that we can hold a grudge if we want to, but trust me if we had wanted to, we could have delivered some payback in the past. Instead we let things go. NV we are decently friendly with nowadays, and Wolfpack, well honestly i haven't spent a minute thinking about them since they got stomped in a war 2-3 years ago (don't even remember who stomped them )
 3.
Good to know that you think this. Obviously you've never been in an alliance that came under attack by another alliance and called up an MDP partner to defend you by attacking that alliance. Good god.
did you miss my pronouns? I said YOU can't defend yourselve by attacking. Not that person XY cannot defend yourselve by countering for you. If you are still missing my point let me try to illustrate it for you. Imagine you are not in invicta for whatever reason, but instead currently idling on None while looking for a new alliance. Now you either fear or hear that alliance X has some kind of beef with you and wants to attack you what can you do to defend yourselve? Most reasonable people would try to join a new alliance and hope to gain protection that way. Or if the alliance you have a problem with is truly pityfull you might try arming up and turtling once they attack you. What reasonable people definitly do not do is declare 2 offensive wars. Do you get my point now? Sedricks offensive wars (which as a sidenote he had not stopped by the point where he applied to NSO, he was still attacking full throttle) in no way or form served as a defence. The only thing they did was attack TENE (which judging from his attitude on IRC was the point)
 4.
No, but as a member of VE admitted, Rok decided to go in early based on some evidence that NSO was starting to dive into Peace Mode and therefore if Rok waited to do an update blitz (and following standard Rok military protocols, they would have told their people in advance when to be online and ready to go), they would have been able to engage far fewer targets. VE was a last minute addition to the package, but it's pretty clear that GOD was in on things in advance. RnR I'll leave to your conclusions. The last alliance to roll on NSO was actually TENE, who from the looks of it, either weren't told much in advance or simply took a bit longer to get moving.
actually we were told 45min in advance that NSO was moving to peacemode and therefor Rok couldn't wait for the update and would need some backup. Before that we were actually fairly confident we wouldn't be needed except against counters. The Reason we and VE were called in was the timechange, and that we are fairly IRC active so Rok knew we could get 20 members active within an hour.
 5.
Well, no, actually. It's been repeated plenty of times that the aid was an effort to avoid war by not actually defending the person we told RoK we would defend. We can all go around in circles about who provoked who the worst there, but the fact is that we didn't start the war and they made no effort to avert the war, despite such an outcome clearly being unnecessary.
Seriously do you even read what you write? Since when has aiding a nation at war been acceptable? It isn't even acceptable according to your own alliance doctrine... Your new member picked a fight with Rok's protectorate. Frankly conflicts like that can only end in a number of ways (Hoo listed them all in the logs) instead you choose to send him aid (and not even an insignificant amount for his size). By that action you've made yourselve part of the conflict. What kind of effort should they have made after that? And since when does the NSO "defend" nations who are at war with a different alliance before they join them? Maybe you should take some time to rethink your decisions in this mess.
 6.
Heft basically said "do something about it." NSO, on the other hand, basically said "No, we don't mean what Heft said, can we talk it over" and RoK punched NSO in the face. Therefore, it was not justified. Then Hoo could have set a limit, and said "We resolve this to my satisfaction in 24 hours or it's war" and you would not hear a single complaint from me over this war. Negotiation was not even attempted despite NSO's repeated efforts. The notion that NSO some how wanted this to happen to them is ridiculous, and nothing more than blaming the victim. A day of negotiation almost certainly would have resolved all issues.
Heft IS one of the accepted voices of the NSO. Get that into your head please. If you give someone the power to negotiate on behalf of your alliance then his actions are also on behalf of your alliance. Frankly once you spit into the face of a negotiation (and thats pretty much what Heft did) it's naive at best to expect any further goodwill. Once the aid was sent pretty much the only way to avoid war would have been an apology and some form of censure on Heft for inappropriate behaviour. Instead the only thing that happened was some kind of discussion between RV and Hoo without any form of apology. Seriously, i wouldn't mind if you sound like a broken record if you actually had a point, but currently you only remind me of mathewPK in the gramlins thread. Repetition doesn't make something true. You say Rok should have negotiated, of course they "could" have negotiated, but frankly they had no reason to. They'd been directly insulted by the NSO and a rather firmly drawn line had been crossed what more do you want?
 7.
I'm not sure why people keep mentioning this when it doesn't actually have anything to do with the actions that supposedly led RoK to declare war.
Let me try to dumb it down a bit. You have accepted a nation with 2 active agressive wars with tene (agressive meaning he has declared them). 10 seconds of investigation by MHA showed that the situation between Sedrick and Tene was complicated to say the least. Rok is Tene's protector and gives notice to you that they consider him a rogue and declare War against him. You and Hoo discuss this on IRC and Hoo gives you his warning. You order aid sent, therefor involving yourselve and your alliance in an active conflict between Tene/Rok and a Rogue. Do you see the connection now? Frankly as long as he was actively attacking a Rok Protectorate, there can be no excuse for sending him war aid.
 8.
And as I have demonstrated numerous times in the past, this was Heft's doing, but it was not the doing of the NSO. The NSO did not support Heft's actions, and instead sought to rectify and reverse Heft's error. The attack on NSO is thus unjustified in that NSO is not responsible for the act, Heft is. NSO would only have become responsible had they supported Heft's action or refused to negotiate. Instead they actively sought to negotiate and resolve the issue from the instant that Heft erred.
You remind me of a broken record. Heft is a goverment official of the NSO who made a decision on behalf of his alliance. Frankly once you spit into someones face they are very unlikely to listen to further arguments from your side until you start with an apology. Please at least get some new material if you want to continue to argue...
 9.
Not if he's defending himself, it doesn't matter what his AA was. He's not a rogue for retaliating/defending.
you can't defend yourselve by attacking. How is that supposed to work exactly? He might be attacking for a good reason, but the fact remains that he choose to enter a war with Tene/Rok. NSO had no beef in that fight which started prior to him trying to join you. The reason we are at war, is that you involved yourselve in a conflict where you had no buisness being (completly against your policy as a sidenote). Do you even know what kind of person you are defending (or trying to at least)? I'd highly recommend you spend a minute or two talking to him on IRC and you'll notice very soon why he is considered a rogue by Rok.
 10. sadly if the targetlists are redone on the fly and within 20min (which was literally the time we had) they are not foolproof. If we had waited another 2h we probably could have reached 100% coverage and every alliance would have known exactly which nation they need to hit. But on the flipside of that coin we'd also have had another 10-15 nations in pm at the very least on their side.
 11.
Now that NSO has explicitly stated they will not be calling on their allies, their allies are honoring their treaties to the fullest extent. RoK and friends thought NSO was a simple push button that could bring NPO and friends into a curbie, but they forgot that the notion of "Defense" is so much more than running blindly into an obvious trap. But please, keep trying to goad NPO into war. It's so hilarious, how quickly the real reasons for this war reveal themselves.
do you want me to recommend some cheese for that whine? Or maybe some nice happy pills to help with that paranoia? Rok and friends thought that NSO aided a rogue after being specifically told he was a rogue and actively at war with a Rok protectorate. End of story, there isn't much more to it.
 12.
The wars were in response to TENE spying on him. Also, we didn't actually interfere with those wars in anyway, regardless.
sorry but i seem to have missed the exposed spy attack by Tene on him. maybe you could show us a screen of that? Otherwise maybe you should consider actually screening applicants or as option B maybe get off your high horse when approached about such a problem.
 13. seriously how hard is it to check your new members war screen before you start posturing for his sake?
 14. someone managed 19 blocked in karma. And i've heard a rumour that someone from TOP blocked a full compartment (meaning 25 nukes) in a day, but i've never seen a screenshot from that.
 15.
The leader of the "peanut gallery" in this case appears to be Hoo, who's not entirely without connection to MA.
Hoo's point was basically "if someone approaches you nicely on IRC maybe next time react appropriatly". A criticism GOONS will have to accept, since that isn't quite how they have behaved here. But he doesn't disagree that the situation itself has been handled.
