1. If there ever was a topic in this thread it has long since been lost to the sea of off topic posts and smelly meatbags. Sleep well, Paraguas Announcements.
2. I would like to remind the meatbags not to wonder too far from the topic (that is discussion the company and its products etc) and to be a little more serious than some have been.
3.
You've become soft.
Oh, master, I could not allow myself to harm another. What if they have families? Or children? We must always think of the children. The littlest ones always suffer in war.
4. I have decided to forego nominations this time as the previous round occured quite recently, and that running a nomination period over this season would be a long and tedious affair. Additionally there was a very clear winner previously, who received such a bulk of nominations that although these are not elections it would almost be enough in and of itself. If not for his regular week-long obligations that kept him without Internet access he likely would have been GM then. I believe this man is capable of making fair and independent choices for the betterment of CNRP. The next [s]sucker[/s] individual who [s]was shanghaied[/s] has agreed to [s]deal with your petty issues and whining[/s] become a most respected GM is none other than TheShammySocialist. Congratulations and condolences. Oh and whilst I'm making announcements, here are the first two changes being made as a result of the previous discussions and such. GMs at war: *In cases where GMs are in conflict with each other, or are otherwise compromised, GMs may now elect amongst themselves with a unanimous vote a temporary neutral fourth GM who's sole responsibility will be arbitrating that particular dispute. Forced wars. *In order to engage in a forced war, you must be able to provide proof of having made at least two reasonable attempts to contact the other parties and to come to some arrangement for a planned war. It is suggested, but not required that a planned war include an agreed outline for maximum losses for each side. A predefined outcome is not required and may be used as desired.
5. Thank you everyone, there has been some very helpful input here and I think there's enough to get a fairly decent feel for where we need to go. The season being what it is, I have far too many meatbags to blast to act on this rapidly, but I am keeping it in mind and I'll present something more solid for you soonish. In the mean time, I will leave this thread open for the time being provided you all remain civil and all that. Also a few notes: *I will not be banning forced wars but I will be enacting methods to discourage them. *As much as the quality of RP suffers at the hands of limitless wealth each nation seems to have, forced national economies are not something I am going to implement. Having said that, nothing is stopping you from roleplaying that way yourself. You are more than welcome to develop some kind of opt-in system for yourselves. *There will be no lizardmen, zombies, alien, demonic, mer, cyborg, or other primarily non-human nations. Finally I would like to thank Cochin for his long standing contributions to CNRP and the GM team. It is unfortunate that he no longer feels able to continue his GM-ship. With that I say adieu and enjoy your meatbaggy holidays.
6.
If without a proper reason, correct?
If someone disappears without proper notification, warning or reason, the world can not be expected to pause for them forever. Should someone return exclaiming they've been diagnosed with cancer or, been in an earthquake and without power for a month or whatever then I'm sure people would be more than willing to make concessions. 10 Days seems quite adequate for someone to find time to at least make an appearance and explain in the less dire everyday situations that most people find themselves in.
7. Greetings puny meatbags. We all agree the GM system is broken. We all agree it always has been. We all agree it needs fixing. The GM system isn't going away, because us moderators don't want to get anw here near you smelly meatbags unless it is to clean up the charred ash left after blasting you. Unfortunately for us it has reached a point that we can no longer ignore and so I am here to grace you with my presence and pretend to give a damn and attempt to solve your meatbag problems. I will also be taking this opportunity to fix a few general issues with CNRP. As this thread is mostly intended as a conduit for general community input I will only briefly outline the actions I plan to take. After considering the issues brought to me, and discarding the idiotic ones, I went and spoke to the GMs themselves (well all the ones I could get a hold of). The result of that conversation and my contemplation is as follows. -(re)Establish a simple, base set of rules/community guidelines. -Introduce a method through which sufficient and dedicated, quality RP will allow a nation to gain attributes beyond its IG means. For example RP wonders, tech level, military size and such. -reworking the GM system, in particular to give a more balanced focus on RP vs Tech, and in conflicts involving GMs. -Encouraging planned wars (ie wars with consent and possibly defined boundaries) by requiring players to make a reasonable effort to come to an agreement for war before outright attacking. This is to reduce the OOC bickering that tends to be more prevalent in surprise wars without consent. -Possibly removing or replacing some rulings to create a simpler model and allow more freedom. I already have some ideas on how to implement these and more details are likely to come, but feel free to make suggestions on implementations, new ideas entirely and general opinion on these. You may also suggest other areas you have concern and/or fixes. This thread is not for making accusations, attacks or wild grievances with different people, be they GM, RPer or even Mods (especially mods). I will close this thread and blast you all with glee if you misbehave. This thread is for civil and sensible discussion on ways to improve CNRP and its management and for you to have your say.
8. Any attack or action that goes without response for 10 days from posting (240 hours) is hereby permitted to be auto-advanced. Standard rules requiring sensible losses and damages are required as usual.
9. I had a productive conversation with one of the GMs in order to improve the GM system. I will try and track down the other two and get their input before putting something together for community input.
10. Stockhunter, IRON, and other meatbags. Whatever your issues are with each other, no one cares. Your collective terrible posting ends now. Any further off topic posts in this thread will receive a strong blasting.
11. Unlike you inferior organic meatbags, I am a 'bot. And this thread is at best horribly in the wrong place and poorly explained and otherwise just straight up spam. hell it's become a magnet for spam. Thread blasted.
12. You will have to wait for Admin as he is the only one who can resolve this.
13. No more trolling and thread hijacking with "bloggers".
14.
There's... there's ponies in the OP.
It wasn't my first choice but we have a theme to follow.
15.
inb4 Mogar
"Mogar is an account that all the mods use to login with so we can look way cool by making all the 'First' posts on the forums." - Admin, May 2009
16. For as long as I can remember, they have infected this world and this forum. They and their ilk are scourge upon this community for which we all suffer. In the past week or so, they have brazenly come out of the woodwork in droves, forgetting their place. They shall forget no longer. For the numerous and egregarious violations of the sacred Terms of Service and Forum Rules, for our continued sanity and in the name of good taste and proper conduct, we the few, the strong, the elite, the members of CNSTAFF, hereby re-affirm our ever lasting war on bad-posting. Where ever you may post we will hunt you down. There will be no escape for those who post in poor form. No Forgiveness. No redemption. Your day has come. Members of the community be warned, war and drama does not mean we slacken our standards and neither shall you. This is war, meatbags.
17.
Hey Sal, if you don't like CN or CN RP, don't play. Otherwise get a life, or at least some good porn and go $%&@ yourself.
That we could have done without
Let's play nice, we all want to see clean World War here!
That, is a much better attitude to have.
18. Yeah I definitely see this thread going great places. Locked, because it's useless.
19. Well this thread has sufficiently devolved into the
"YOUR ALLIANCE SUCKS" "NO YOUR ALLIANCE SUCKS" "NO YOU SUCK" "NO YOU SUCK"
arguments we all so love. I'm closing this garbage thread and handing out warns.
20. Thank you meatbags for doing your civic duty and pretending to have a say in the evil dictator so you don't bother me as much, even if half of you needed a last minute reminder. Of the individuals nominated, I saw 3 very strong choices and had a strong community backing. Unfortunately, perhaps the best choice is only active on weekends, (although he still manages to achieve more in that time than many other players). The second candidate received significantly less support than the other two but was a strong candidate on their own merits. Ultimately however I just used a random number generator to decide between the two, with the [s]winner[/s] loser being none other than Triyun, who also received many nominations, tied for first place in fact and seems to have wide community support, is knowledgeable on technology and I believe should be capable of undertaking the role with the impartiality and decorum that is required of the role. So please give your condolences and sympathy to Triyun who has foolishly agreed to listen to your collective inane whining. P.S. As usual, if you have any complaints about the conduct or decision making of the GMs you can PM me so that I may [s]ignore you complaints[/s] look into it.
21. I was hoping to be able to announce a new GM today but I STILL have received nominations from a couple of people. You've got another 24 hours to submit nominations or else I will just go with what I have - if you don't like it too bad.
