1. Congrats to all involved on achieving peace. I am not a fan of reps as thievery. But, and it ultimately is something I am having to come to grips with in this new multi-polar world of threats from all sides, reps as a legitimate military tool to gain time and space (i.e. weaken a potential future opponent for X amount of time) does have some legitimacy. There's no doubt, and it looks good for them, where TOOL's loyalties lie and where they are likely to lie in the future.
2. Time to move forward. I was most pleased to see NEW and WFF get white peace, as their actions have been above reproach.
3.
OBM is just an old crotchety fart who likes to rattle TPF leadership. We already have one of those here old friend...and I'm doing a fine job on my own. Stop by sometime and say hello, perhaps MT or Trace will let you become the MK diplomat to TPF......ROFLMFAO.
Yes Dad. I am glad to hear that your rattling is still appreciated, but then again, it won't be as easy to chase you out of town as it was for me. My alleged bitterness shouldn't be a stretch for anyone of my former comrades to understand. I will request Special Diplomatic Status from MT. Ejayrazz - one of my faves.
4.
You have no credibility since you probably have not seen all the logs. I see you have already taken up the fine MK art of trolling. Good show OBM.
First of all, I have been a master of the aforementioned art long before I changed AA's. Second, and I think my facts are pretty straight on this one, historical revisionism aside, but your esteemed Dear Leader was directly and actively involved in the conversation whereby the Polarians would "sit out" this war, casting aside their obligations to their friends. He may have, and I know, appearances not being what they seem, have been the person most actively posing the germane question to Grub on said occasion. I know, I know, its a stretch of logic to not be able to see the obvious peaceful intent of Dear Leader in actively plotting strategic maneuvers. Third [OOC] Wassup my old friend, good to see you on here [/OOC], how's the Primrose Path treating you guys?
5.
You're incredibly misinformed obm. First off I wasn't incharge of planning TOP and IRON's attack, nor did I even know specifics(I was actually told more about the plan from Pezstar than either IRON or TOP). I seemed to be one of the primary concerned parties to pull people aside and ask about the consequences of such a strike. This was not as some official capacity, but rather at wtf are people thinking thing. I took those discussions and directly told TOP that I believed their move would be a "disaster". You can check with crymson, pez, ivan if you do not believe that to be the case. Further I made it clear we would not enter that cluster on an oA. You seem quite bitter, that is unfortunate.
Your presence in the Grub discussions where he appears to have greenlighted the attack was just as window dressing perhaps? Shocking. Shocking I say. The bitter comment, while an attempt to diminish my credibility, does seem to throw down the gauntlet.
6.
I think we're all ready for a break lol, I know I am. How ya doing OBM? Hope MK is treating you well?
You might be ready for a break, but your Dear Leader seems unable to have his words (we need to lay low for a while) match his actions (Polar - is it OK if all of us attack CnG?). Primrose path. MK is good, still missing my homeys. It is fun to be the nuker and not the nukee, though, its been a while.
7.
I'm sure TPF has much rebuilding to do from the past 2 months. Hopefully they finally have their chance.
Oh, we know that mhawk won't be able to keep my boys out of a fight...
8. Greetings from the Pathology Samples Jar. I may be gone, but I am not forgotten. Three years ago today, I was a relatively happy testicle. I lived in a warm and comforting place, and was treated quite well. The problem was, that I would occasionally ache and cause my host a tremendous amount of discomfort. It turns out that I was being invaded. I never knew. I was a happy and warm testicle, and poof! I was being kicked out of my own home. It seems this cancerous leech had attached itself to me, and was slowly and surely kicking me out of my own house. It was devastating, to say the least. So, on this day 3 yrs ago, my host, the esteemed OBM, was put under the knife and I, along with some inguinal lymph nodes, were rudely removed and sent to the pathology lab. Turns out that I was really mostly a tumor. I'd been moved in on and was in danger of wrecking the whole works. Check your nuts. Here's a fun video that will explain the facts and how to check the lads. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVX9g_N4qxw&feature=related So, lads, check your nuts. Srsly, it is easy, and as the video shows, you can even have someone near and dear to you help out. Oh! And for you ladies, and you know we love you, do your monthly self-exams. It is easy and can save your life.
9.
I think that many beleive that with the peacing out of the NpO-\m/ front that there was no need for the war to go any longer. It is understandable that C&G would want to keep TOP and co in a longer war for the reasons you stated above, mainly due to two actions on the TOP and co side of things, plus a tactical descision on C&Gs side. 1) The pre-emptive nature in which TOP and co assaulted C&G. This can be looked at in a few ways, and in truth the answer is probably a mix of Paranoia(although the extent of that is minimised by our side and maximised by yours), True Pre-emptive action, in which TOP and co felt that the likelyhood of facing C&G was extremely high and felt that the odds were stacked against them, so turned to a "suprise" tactic to attempt to offset the balance back in TOP and cos favour(we can see now that this move probably backfired and led to TOP and co gaining less support. Add to that the whole NpO coming and going affair). 2) The OPs words in stating the CB against C&G. C&G wants to continue the war, and return the favour of bloodying TOP back, just as TOP wanted to do to C&G. (Whether that was a bit of rambling on the OPs part or Actually how TOP felt is an issue debatable by both sides) 3) TOPs wachests and tech levels. This is probably the biggest single reason to keep top in a prolonged state of war. Their is plenty of evidence around the OWF to show that C&G beleive that peacing out now will simply allow TOP to shoot straight back to Pre War levels(peace now would allow me personally to get back to prewar levels instantly, with the loss of a few hundreds of tech), and can instantly be a threat to C&G and co once again. Now that wouldnt be so bad if C&G and co could do the same, but that likelyhood is probably a lot smaller on an across the board level due to them being involved in a lot more beatings and conflicts over the recent past. This is where the whole "Not giving TOP peace proves their Paranoia was right" argument comes from. More corectly should it read "C&G an co are paranoid about TOP and co coming back to get them if they give them peace". Wether they are right or wrong for me has no bearing on what their actions are. C&G and co are in the better position right now and can choose how they go about it, while TOP and co have no choice in the matter but to continue to fight really. C&G and co have apparantly made the decision that they dont want TOP to be a threat after this war is over, and are acting in self interest by continuing to hold TOP and co in a state of prolonged war so as to diminish their warchests/tech levels etc. Whether the strategy is sound or not, time will only tell. You cant fully predict what can happen in this world, so I guess we will just wait and see. One thing for certain, there are a lot of people with their thinking hats on right now. Edit: punctuation
This is a good, fairly objective summary of the situation at hand. But something is really bothering me and it stems from the fractured nature of the cyberverse right now. There is far too much civility and diplomatic language here. Our side is playing nice, because to do otherwise would paint us as the monsters that some of you think we are. But that is total and unadulterated crapola. The simple fact of the matter is that TAFKAP attacked us, with ZERO provocation, ZERO CB, because you thought your position was stronger. No moral cause, no righting of wrongs, just simply, a roll of the dice against a perceived future threat. You were wrong, you have wronged us and you will pay. Zero infra and zero tech should be the baseline, as far as I am concerned. I don't care who you give it to, but that's the way it rolls. Enjoy the war.
10. You attack someone who may or may not be a future threat when their power position appears to tilt to your advantage? And now you cry for white peace, because you miscalculated and may or may not have been betrayed/misread the true strategic sitrep? This begets nothing less than full reparations for losses as well as a future weakening of your proven aggressive intents. If reparations are ever due, it is now and I hope they are as severe as any that have ever been demanded. Reps for wars started by the tC as curbstomps were disgusting, as was the behavior of some during the Karma War, reps for this abomination are simply, due. The nations who entered aggressively against CnG have cast their fate onto the whims of chance, and now are looking at a pair of single digits staring at them. Consequences.
11.
......there was also the short lived "Don't Pee in My Snow" thing, modeled after FANs Yellow #5(?) and the Revenge Doctrine. Not sure if/where there is any information on that but I'm sure some of the old \m/ guys would know more as they had a major role in setting it up along with TF!/TPF. WC?
I remember that, it was a response to FAN and GOLD and some crap that went down. GOLD mostly, if I recall correctly.
12. The end game is admirable, the path taken, wow, garbage. I would hope that once the dust settles, that this airing of internal Legion politics won't be too damning in your treatment post conflict.
13. This, frankly, is awesome work. The trendline in this will also be interesting. Great, great work.
14. To reaching 3M ten or fifteen times more this year!!! I know that would make you guys happy.
15. You are wrong. The CB used against TPF by Athens was and is one that Londo et al truly, truly, believed in. I say this as the person who had to listen to those fine persons tell me how valid it was, over and over and over and over and over again in peace negotiations, while the diplomats in the room told them to drop it, again and again. While we can debate the validity of that CB, the faith that Athens had in it was 100% genuine. I can't speak for the other alliances, as it was never a sticking point in discussions.
16. This truly is an epic tale of fail. I would love to see those that are currently in TOOL, that as part of any surrender terms, or surrender terms that TOOL might apply on another, that this fine person get sent to Zero Infra as a codicil and that TOOL can do it. Just a friendly suggestion.
17.
It is my view that when an alliance cannot longer fight, they should admit defeat and surrender honorably. There is nothing wrong with admitting defeat. In fact, it is very honorable act, but it shows lack of competency in term of military readiness. I humbly encourage those criticizing The Immortals to give them a fair treatment. I agree if you say that they are incompetence (to fight this large scale war), but you cannot claim that they are in disgrace for surrendering to the enemy. If Nusantara cannot longer fight, we will admit defeat and surrender to the enemy. Part of the sport is admitting defeat when it is due. An alliance that decide to surrender is much more honorable than an alliance that insist to stay in the war but with 90% of the members hide in peace mode and inflicting almost 0 damage to the enemy, but keep singing the heroic song clear and loud that they are the most honorable folks for holding out the longest. I have no respect for such kind of alliance. They are only posturing, not fighting, but they pretend to be toughest. Gentlemen, you have pointed your finger at the wrong direction. The Immortals is just fine in my opinion.
If anyone else said it, I'd probably call this self-serving BS. But from you guys, whom I respect faithfully, I will heed your words in the genuine spirit in which they were delivered and give TI a pass.
18.
Also, I would like to take the time to say, I fully expected Mushroom Kingdom to come in here and post !@#$ tons of retarded posts. I was wrong. It's a wonderful thing when two alliances who really haven't liked each other can be the only two alliances remaining civil in a thread. Thank you for that MK.
The night is young yet WtB. I could arrange a deluge of poop from our renowned prolific post poopers if you'd like. What you are seeing is a legitimate recognition that NATO entered at the behest of treaties, not as the result of some weak proposition. MK respects those who show that their word matters.
19. Fight the good fight, my friends. See you on the other side.
20.
As you will recall obm, we fought for months because our friends enemies would not allow their exit without becoming a tech slave for a year. The alliances that have attacked CnG have all sought peace terms, yet the continuation of the war exists for the sole purpose of extracting revenge or attempts to destroy certain alliances. Asking a small alliance several treaties down to get nuked into oblivion so larger alliances can get some revenge is pretty selfish.
Yes, of course. That is exactly why these guys signed a piece of paper and then honored not even one round of wars, because they couldn't fathom fighting for some other larger alliances "vendetta". This is ridiculous, that you would honor these people who don't even pretend to honor the spirit of their word. Honorable exits are one thing (NEW leaving the Karma war springs to mind), but this is a joke. Don't spin, it becomes you not. TPF deserved at least an honorable opponent. You didn't get that. There is no victory here.
21.
Its good to know the Immortals are great allies for the future.
This is precisely what I was thinking. I can't fathom that anyone associated with The Immortals will ever live this down. Congrats to the "victors" here, but this comes off as kinda lame-o if I was a member of the surrendering party. Geez, TPF held out for months against waaaaaaaay more "overwhelming" odds as have others. Enjoy your pixuls.
22. This marks a sad day, as does any bloc dissolvement. To friend and enemy alike, safe travels.
23. Glad to see my friends back in business. Let's do this. /o WtB & Anu /o NATO
24. To my Phoenician brethren - you will always be first and foremost in my heart. May your battle be overflowing with the sweet nectar of honest toil and the glory in valor.
