  1. We'd be traitors to ourselves if we continued in an alliance we weren't happy at.
  2. ^^ Cant be promised, we need a metal gear of our own Thank you MK for the Protectorate, and for being generally awesome! Thanks all for the kind words!
  3. Morte is the Tech Magician at GATO. He makes an extraordinarily tough job look like child's play. o/ Morte o/ Global alliance.
  4. An official statement from the Global Alliance Ministry of Finance. GATO has reached a new pinnacle in her development as an alliance. We in the GATO MOF and Technology Corps are proud to announce GATO has reached 100,000 Technology for the first time in a while....More then 9 months. Thanks -John Maynard Keynes Minister of Finance, Global Alliance and Treaty Organization. o/ Global Alliance
  5. *scratches unconteollably* this announcemt truely shows what an alliancy completely determined to conqour diversity looks like. We rawk!!! I have not had a chance to privatley congratulate my fellow govern-mental-ists, but to me it looks like a line up of awesomeness.
  6. What an interesting way to announce then end of a treaty. My best wishes go out to all involved.
  7. I never hailed them myself. But merely that i recognise that work has been done everywhere, VOX on surviving and GATO on surviving. edit: Grats all round to everyone
  8. We have worked so hard, yet our efforts are reduced to this?
  9. My mind was else where as you can probably tell. My point remains that, we have been dragged into it. Without even really knowing about it. As you can probably tell from the amount of GATO posts over the past year, we dont participate in OWF discussion. So to be subject to this campaign, without really being told, forwarned etc, its not the best position. Luckily there are wonderfull alliances out there who are extending olive branches, from every where. So I wouldn't rush judgement several hours after notifying the world that GATO is free.
  10. I can understand that on one side you have people who want to be free, and are fighting for what they beleive is right, and on the other hand you have people who beleive that they have been transgressed in terms of hostility towards their alliance. I realise this is a gross over simplification, but as a member of a sovereign alliance, and a free thinking member of government, i can recognize validity in both sides. Now if i were in the possition that this post seems to suggest, that is an alliance such that it is some what akin to Legion, I would come right out and say "hey guys hail NPO for peace etc". But no. Im a reasonable person. Most members of GATO are reasonable enough to see that we have kept out of this issue. Yet we are dragged into it. We have not passed official opinion on it. (and please do not take what i mean to be the opinion of the alliance as a whole). Please recognise that we too have valid points, in that we want peace and not to be treated as if we were a political football. Please dont refer to us as boot lickers in the making its disrespectful. We have done nothing to deserve this, nor will the people of my nation stand by and be called this, when as a matter of fact it is not true. Now let me remind everyone that i see, one side wants people and everyone deserves it, Vox, FAN and GATO. And everyone wants to right wrongs. I get it, everyone gets it. But read up befor hitting GATO for six. Edit: for reasons of grammar.
  11. Sure some may call it scraps, but freedom is freedom and I'm not complaining.
  12. Whilst I agree that in essence the situation was never desirable, we were given a choice. And it is just and Rebel_Virginia states it. But i see it with more optimism. No one ever wants war. War is a harsh mistress from which we can learn many things about our alliance. We learnt to carry our selves honorably and to the highest level of integrity. When posed with an alternative to war so incredibly pointless, I guess we had to chose the best option. Either fade into irrelevance and collapse under the pressure of a never ending war or have our sovereignty subject to another alliance. Neither option was preferable, but knowing that we either had a chance of never getting peace, or suffering the treads of a viceroy and knowing that there was a minimum stipulation and NOT a maximum, we knew that there would be a chance of peace in the future. I guess my point is simply that both options sucked but one sucked a little less. As some one posted that courage wasn't the absence of fear but the judgement to tell that something is more important then fear then I would say; yes. In this sense we, as an alliance saw that; yes it was a scarey prospect being under the NPO for an indefinite period, but if we were to judge anything more important then being scared of subjugation to an NPO viceroy, then it would be peace. Peace is not just the absence of war, mind you, it's much much more then that. In wartime culture is stiffled, there is less fun to be had, and development in terms of policy and nation building all goes to hell. But there was one thing the war solidified, that is GATO is an alliance that is here to stay. In peace time, we are able to develop the alliance. Friendships and bonds form during war, and they carry us through peace time. Yes, GATO is the oldest alliance and we aren't going anywhere. Its party time in GATO.
  13. Working with Cortath and the Economic Viceroy team was fantastic. Im not sure what i would say, people will that cynically but the best thing i can do is be sincere. So with all sincerity, Cortath helped up rebuild a lot. The work my own team of MoF Officers was paramount to getting GATO back on its feat aiding with the best of them. The processes we learnt from we tried to redevelop in a way that would fit into our own culture. Things we thought would clash, Cortath was very accommodating. In fear of me sounding like I'm praising NPO way to much, I can say it was a team effort the Viceroy team with GATO's finest economic minds and hard workers.
  14. Oops quoted the wrong guy sorry! This was ment for Bakamitai's post on the first page. Of course Baka, were never rid of your antics! Buts its been good to have you. I couldn't think of a better Pacifican to have around .
  15. Man this is totally awesome! I guess this means we can kick our financial plans into umm high gear?!
  16. Im not sure if your aware as to how much governing the NPO actually does in GATO. The etho's, for those not in the know, was simply "Help you help yourselves", at least thats the vibe i got, and i should know. But don't get the wrong impression here, there was some authoritarian nature to it. Koona was a good viceroy, as is Vladimir, have been able to give us breathing space. There where some issues but on the whole people accepted it and moved on. Contrary to Corinan's comment here, its really nothing like reality, and I hope people reading this comment take it with grain of salt. Though it puzzles me why we would be getting comments like this, especially from NPO members, given that part of the Viceroy ship was to rebuild some semblance of a common relationship. Comments such as this don't accurately represent reality. And I apologize to MTTezla, I had to comment.
