House Stark Joins the New Order of the Ages
Auctor replied to Lord of Darkness's topic in Alliance Announcements (IC)
Hail Polar. On to things. Which will happen. And change everything. -
when later historians shift through successive layers of the internet, they will not agree whether this event occurred in the sixth layer of one of the later phases of the seventh layer. They definitely will not believe the accounts handed down by the epic poets about this to be literally true and their assumption will be along the lines of this must have been triggered by the world moving from dorito based societies to a more advanced form of the cheese puff. EDIT: or possibly climate change.

That feel when frickin SNX is more capable of getting an alliancewide war going against you than you are.

I don't honestly recall why one would think there's a basis in the statement that Karma War had anything to do with ending the practice of alliances rebuilding their fighting nations. If one wants to be reachy about it and call it reps, Karma wasn't even the end of those. Witness Bipolar War or TOP/IRON-NpO War. Well fought to Polar ofc. o/

Imperial Decree- New Polar Order

One would think someone trying to really play up the Sparta theme would put more effort into laconic posting. -
We're ascended internet beings who derive pleasure solely from microdrama at this point. Don't you dare try to bring nekkid pictures into this.

A Declaration from the Bears with Guns and Lasers
Auctor replied to Shurukian's topic in Alliance Announcements (IC)
"This we'll defend" is a much more appealing line of propaganda if y'know, you actually defend it. Looks more like an empty platitude if the best you can do is post about how you'll just send jeeps past their house and not shoot back. -

Via sending your allies in one nation at a time to deal with it and telling all hands on board to prepare to hit dove mode. Makes sense, appreciate the clarification. -

Surely if they're just rogues, they wouldn't be capable of organizing a counter to the mighty ISX? -

If you genuinely believe this situation to be this way, why aren't you defending your alliance? Is it dereliction of duty, cowardice, or are you making statements about this situation that you believe to be untrue and therefore see no need to risk anything to back up? -

Only point I am making is a precedent from that time lacks the element that there actually was no option to remove someone if they chose not to be removed, whereas now there is such an option. Whether or not an alliance is willing to go to war to defend its distinctions about which pending members have alliance protection and which do not is entirely up to their own testicular fortitude and willingness to take risks. I suspect Junka's is not particularly strong here if animalz is willing to counter but ISX is not. -
A Declaration from the Bears with Guns and Lasers
Auctor replied to Shurukian's topic in Alliance Announcements (IC)
At the time there wasn't a physical way of removing anyone from sitting on an NPO Applicant AA. You ask them to leave or you could attack them until they left but you couldn't force them to leave if they didn't care. Alliance management didn't come in until 2013. -

Auctor replied to Shurukian's topic in Alliance Announcements (IC)
There wasn't a "pending status" in 2008. No one could be removed from an AA involuntarily so there was no way of stopping rogues from wearing the AA they wanted to and therefore it made no sense to hold an alliance accountable for them unless doing so had wider political benefits. At any rate, someone willing to start a war over a pending nation should just do a war frogdammit. Pull your finger out, Junka! -
They aren't gimping themselves, they're creating a snowball race to the bottom scenario that sticks them with a lower tier they can't compete in against nations also in that tier with 3 year's worth of wonders that forces newer nations. It's created a giant incentive to stay tiny and never grow to a level with increased risk requiring increased skill becaise they can just sit at 3k NS, nuking whiny noobs that either quit or go on to do the exact same thing to even newer nations. If anything, they're overpowering themselves and never pushing themselves to fight at their skill level. Understandable if you can't afford to accrue tech, but not healthy for a world that desperately needs newer nations to come and thrive.
-
That's a bit backwards. A seller can pretty easily grow out of selling at 6mil/200 without much of a delay at all, really not that much slower than they would with a 6mil/100 rate unless they're completely hopeless at back collecting. It's not that the higher rate increases supply in a direct way by creating more sellers, it creates more supply by having those sellers generate more product.
-
A differential rate system requires a greater degree of control and there's no reason why an alliance that wanted its strongest nations to be even stronger wouldn't focus all of their tech gathering abilities on doing so. Unless all the sellers were going to gather together and exclusively sell to nations that only have a low tech level at high rates of their own volition and somehow dispense with all the extant tech feeders, it's not clear to me how setting up that kind of system would even work. The reality is that it's now a division between the alliances that work to gain tech as their ultimate goal and buy at one rate and alliances that see acrueing tech as an insignificant byproduct of their aid programs for smaller nations and "buy" at another.

Content creation is nice, but those that generate more content are not entitled to anything because of it. Unless people want to line up and give me free stuff, I guess.

You certainly said before that since WAPA hadn't posted a thread previously, that your involvement was warranted in some way. Considering that FTW also didn't post a thread, had literally nothing to do with creating this event, became involved under easily discoverable false pretenses, launched fewer outgoing wars in a 3 day period than a supposedly less active, vastly smaller managed to in a similar period of involvement initially, and your strongest justification essentially amounts to you not bothering to do a modicum of extremely easy research to discover the genesis of this conflict, it's hard to see how this is some kind of great illustration of the values of FTW's proactive management of the world around it. Quite honestly, I would not have considered us naturally opposed to one another heretofore. I'm just not seeing any kind of introspection in evidence, I can understand why this incident would be embarrassing for you and why you would feel a need to save face. What I do not truck with is the hypocrisy of completely screwing the pooch and then attempting to paint the people who were actually in the right here as somehow inferior to you because they were not out there making your mistakes instead. Wholly on top of which, I've never cared for this culture that somehow feels it can create a hierarchy of perceived value based on nebulous "contributions" to the greater drama fest of this world. I've seen a lot of people who generated content that did a lot to damage this world and I have seen a lot of people that shepherded those that were less involved accomplish things that changed the dynamic dramatically and caused paradigm shifts in the political atmosphere. It's true that some alliances have more skill and more organization than others and that some have a stronger ability to mobilize their resources in a more complete way than others. The definitions of who is good and who is bad have always been subjective to the point of nonsensical and at no time is this more apparent than today.
-
If your point is merely about internal community activity, it's probably not the best criticism either for various OOC reasons. Seriously though, try and explain how FTW was more proactive in generating this event than WAPA was. You didn't post a thread, which is supposedly one of the reasons you thought it was ok to involve yourself, and you couldn't even be bothered to read the OWF for two days if we're buying your own story. You claim you couldn't be bothered to do basic research about it via publicly available records and all this is supposed to reflect some lapse of activity on WAPA's part. This is just the wrong event to bring that snide remark to and you are the wrong person to make that case.
-
I don't care if you're an ass or not honestly. I just think don't much of the hypocrisy of claiming to disdain inactivity and lack of content provided while your alliance are not even at the average standard for those things. As for being an inactive, demotivated husk, the insight I have on that comes from your own mouth last year. EDIT: as for trying to claim the mantel of generating controversy from this incident, you were a reactive late comer to the event and WAPA beat you there well before you ever tried. This paints WAPA as having been more proactive than you so that's really quite an odd laurel to have tried to rest on.

I'm saying that given the large numbers of alliances and people that have done and continue to do more than you, this righteousness which is as unto filthy rags routine is tired and sad. There's certainly no requirement to get rolled to be consequential, but nearly every alliance that has been rolled in the last three years has legitimately provided more content than you have. If you are going to express disdain for others based on qualities you yourself share, the inanity of doing so is going to be noted.
