  1. Congratulations to TPF. I've heard that Int has been a excellent, upstanding alliance, so it warms my heart to see two friends solidify their bond.
  2. Congratulations to FoK! This is certainly a great line up, and I'm sure they will serve you well in the future.
  3. Good luck to NPL and Appparatus. You're both really awesome alliances.
  4. Congratulations. OBR and Apparatus are good people to have around.
  5. Congrats to CSN, and Crazy! EDIT: And those other guys that stepped up, I guess
  6. [quote name='ktarthan' timestamp='1331765166' post='2938160'] Nothing to do with sharing the mindset. You thinking that GOONS would reject completing the same terms that they dish out is so far off base that it makes it hard to take your interpretation of the situation with more than a grain of salt. [/quote] Ah, now I get what you're saying.
  7. [quote name='ktarthan' timestamp='1331764508' post='2938157'] Your imagination is incredibly off base. If the shoes were on the other feet, members of GOONS would be [i]fighting[/i] over the chance to be the one(s) to complete the terms. I wouldn't be surprised if they held an internal competition to select the official term submission. I think if you actually understood the GOONS culture and mindset, you'd not be so put off by the whole thing. [/quote] Ah yes. If I shared/understood the GOONS mindset, I wouldn't think GOONS would be so ridiculous. Excellent retort.
  8. [quote name='ktarthan' timestamp='1331762826' post='2938140'] I'm not in GOONS any more, so it's not "our" attempts.[/quote] My apologies. [quote]But I can tell you sincerely that mercy board terms are not an exercise in power.[/quote] They are terms that are outside the norm of the community that were given with the EXPLICIT threat that if they were not done the war for NPL would continue for another month. Regardless of initial intentions, this case is easy to be perceived as an exercise in power. [quote]They are a tool for entertainment, purely and simply. The terms aren't made specifically to be difficult to complete, and any applicant who appears to have fun with their term is instantly recieved 100% more positively. The Mercy Board looks and feels like a punishment only when one thinks that it is one, even though it is designed to be anything but. [/quote] The Mercy Boards are a punishment when those who set the terms use it as such, with an explicit threat to dissuade another route of conflict resolution. That is a bitter pill for ANYONE to swallow, and I imagine if some one had made the same threat to GOONS, GOONS would give a giant middle finger in response. The fact that NPL complied with their requests, and made several efforts shows that despite the efforts to jerk them around, they were willing to try.
  9. Again, you're trying to maintain a highly subjective standard as basis on if an Alliance shall receive peace, when it has clearly been neutralized as a military threat, and further military actions would have driven those nations into Bill lock. Although it comes as no shock to me that GOONS would act in such a fashion, I am rather surprised by your continued efforts to say "NPL didn't meet our lofty standards! They WANTED us to continue beating them!" And the image linked, I found rather humorous, so that reasoning falls on deaf ears so far as i'm concerned.
  10. [quote name='Sardonic' timestamp='1331756426' post='2938085'] We offered them the play, they attempted it, it was not satisfactory. We made them a new offer, the option of making a comic, they gave us that. If they had made another offer, like say making a song or video, that could have worked too. We gave them many opportunities, but they simply did not produce. The incentive had to be harsh to encourage the production of quality pieces. Art through adversity. [/quote] So you're saying a little extra work would have set them free? What a wonderful position to hold, if I do say so my self. NPL makes several good faith efforts to fulfill the terms as presented, and GOONS turns into an Alliance of Art and Literary critics. Surely, you are the last bastion of quality and decency in this wasteland.
  11. [quote name='ktarthan' timestamp='1331755956' post='2938079'] Why I'd say that the mercy board is nearly as heinous as requiring someone to review beer as a term! [/quote] And we acquiesced to allowing Ivan a Milk review. Unlike Sardonic, who's only compromise was to offer another month of war on an AA that was ZI'ed and heading to bill lock. Where as our terms are an attempt at light heartedness, your attempts are more stylized as an attempt to exercise the power you have. [quote name='Sardonic' timestamp='1331756094' post='2938081'] You know nothing of our position in our sphere.[/quote] Regardless of position, an attempt to hold up peace any longer for such asinine reasons, would have weakened your position. I believe you realized that, and thus accepted what was offered [quote]You're right, it's sad. Sad that they could have had peace weeks sooner if they had just produced quality work or had somebody produce work for them.[/quote] Quality is highly subjective, and differs in the eye of the beholder. [quote]And I'll have you know my funny bone is working just fine.[/quote] I'm glad to hear it. [quote]Not to mention this, while our requirements are more stringent than yours, you're no better than we are. [/quote] I understand you had to make a poor attempt at humor to make a point, but this borders on ridiculous. We come to negotiations with a spirit of reasonable compromise, where as you came to the table with the attitude of "Do what we say or the beatings continue. Nothing else."
  12. [quote name='Sardonic' timestamp='1331750736' post='2938042'] Counterpoint: NPL is extremely lucky that we were generous enough to give them peace within a reasonable amount of time after that insult.[/quote] How magnanimous of you. I hope you're not surprised when I say a mouse could starve on the generosity of GOONS. [quote]You and NPL bet that we wouldn't hold up the entire coalition for our entertainment purposes, and you were right, but don't think for a second that NPL ever produced anything worth accepting, and don't think that we were in the wrong for not accepting them. [/quote] Of course you wouldn't hold up the peace process. You were in no position to do so, and frankly didn't have a leg to stand on. The mere thought that you would hold an alliance at war simply because they didn't properly tickle your shriveled funny bone would have been simultaneously sad and hilarious, and I have no doubt that is precisely what you would have done if it was just you and NPL on the battlefield. The fact that you feel it acceptable for such a thing to occur is sardonic, in the literal definition of the word.
  13. Look's like an excellent lineup in your government. Congratulations.
  14. Good job on the hard work, you diplomats. You're the backbone of any FA venture.
  15. Congratulations to NPO and TLR. It's a great thing to see friends tie closer to one another.
  16. [quote name='ScratchScreen' timestamp='1330726533' post='2932154'] #ve #ve Cannot join channel (+b) (you are banned) [/quote] Best part, in my opinion.
  17. What a remarkable waste of time this entire thing has been.
  18. Oh man, those unlucky fools in .gov dunno what they got them selves into. EDIT: And to WickedJ, the current Ackbar is TheXerox.
  19. [quote name='BloodFury' timestamp='1330127623' post='2927745'] I like how anyone can think that someone that doesn't even understand the concept and rules of the OWF would even know about cnintel, or even know how or have a reason to commit espionage. Yes I will not lie, I would love to see GPF die in it's own blood and vomit. It was a horrible alliance from day one, and still continues to be a horrible alliance. While Evella is a backstabber and a general nuisance at times, it is only with her hardwork and dedication that GPF got anywhere that is has. It is clear that if you have any leak in GPF, it is within your own government. [b]Perhaps you should be eyeing the person that is ohh so fond of CNIntel, xR1.[/b] It isn't that awfully hard to create multiple accounts on there to make an allusion that someone is not yourself. You have no physical evidence that he did anything wrong, and you will never have it. You are attacking an innocent bystander for no reason other than the criminal himself pointed the finger. It's good to see the poison of the snake has reached so far within your own alliance ColonelBrick. It is a shame that your trust of people that are cowards and traitors is going to be your undoing. I had sympathy for you at one point, now you are turning into nothing more than a joke. It is also good to see that mistakes of GPF are starting to circulate. [/quote] Interesting you should mention that. xR1 admitted him self in logs that i've seen, that the only piece of proof he has is that facebones was active on the GPF forums around the same time as the leak on CNIntel was active. Of course, he then goes on to say the only other person active at the time on the GPF forums was xR1 himself. Not necessarily damning evidence, but using GPF's own logic it supports your claim that xR1 could possibly be the leak.
  20. [quote name='Colonel brick' timestamp='1330124011' post='2927716'] Mods please stop this madness!! Requesting Thread Lock. [/quote] Thank you giving me my first genuine laugh of the day. I appreciate it.
  21. Evella, the linked pics didn't work. I've taken out the img tags in my own spoiler, to let every one else peruse on at their own leisure. EDIT: Woops, there we go. Now they load. Strange. Just a second ago it was just a list of "User posted image". I blame my shoddy connection.
