  1. We shared some laughs, we shared some sads. I wish you guys the best, and don't be strangers now ;)
  2. While I'm sure this could be true, you should know that really all wars revolve around NpO and therefore you must want us dead. Joking aside, I'm actually gonna have to agree with these NSO peeps. While it's obvious we're not on the same side by a long shot, our respective grievances have been nuked into oblivion last war and we do indeed have a normal relationship. This is just a matter of sides being sides. Welcome to the war, we hope you enjoy your stay.
  3. Never say they did, in fact I specifically said they paid a price higher than that. I wasn't in that discussion (checked logs), so this is basically he-said-she-said. Which means I won't call you a liar but have no obligation of believing you either, and when in doubt I usually go for the guy whose side I'm on. I hope you understand. Well, Polar has some experience with terms, considering our extensive history and all that. Winners get to decide the terms, until then there is war. I have zero issue with that, and I'm not sure why you think I do. If terms were demanded by the winner at the end of this war, that would be fair (and their "right" as winner). It's on the loser to decide what terms are acceptable. There are no double standards here, although I agree that the doomsphere contains quite a bit of ass-like people (but maybe that's just me). 1) Indeed! As so many of you pointed out, leading a coalition means you are partly responsible for the actions of said coalition. This means it makes perfect sense to be part of negotiations. Again, I don't recall denying this. What I said is Polar did not desire terms beyond white peace. That doesn't mean the coalition at large desired the same thing. As leaders we share some responsibility, but that doesn't mean we share the intent. 2) See above. If you inferred from my last post that I was denying our responsibility, let me clearly state: I am not denying it at all. Leading a coalition has consequences. This doesn't mean that the coalition moves at our every whim and executes Polar's exact master plan with 0 deviation allowed. I would imagine an alliance leader with your tenure is aware of that. 3) Yadda yadda, see 1 and 2. Since people claimed it was Polar that wanted the "terms", I clarified for Polar's account. If people had claimed that the coalition wanted terms, well shit yeah of course the coalition did. And as the winner, in the end the coalition came to negotiated terms with the loser. And yes, we were leading that coalition and share responsibility for that. All true observations, except I never claimed otherwise. Polar, as an alliance, did not want any terms beyond white peace, but accepted that while we were leader, we were not the all-ruler of the coalition and therefore would have to negotiate terms for the coalition. Well, if it makes you feel any better I'm not super excited about you, but that doesn't mean I go around plastering half-truths on the OWF about ODN demanding reps and being generally bad people. I gave a nice explanation of our actions in an earlier post and this one marks the second, but I kinda hope we won't be needing a third (OWF is fun to read but so time-consuming to post). If you still feel incredibly wronged, angry, indigested or otherwise uncomfortable, find me on IRC and I'm happy to keep discussing this or a wide variety of other topics.
  4. Lots of people here being absolutely 100% certain that Polaris wanted, nay DEMANDED that Pacifica pay all the reps in the history of reps paying. I recall us at the time being pretty clear, both on and off the OWF, that we didn't want reps and didn't give many shits about Pacifica nations being in PM. Sure it wasn't high on our "this is cool" list (yes we have a list), but I never heard a member of our government saying "THEY MUST BURN IN THE FIERY DEPTHS OF PAINLAND". Now, we did have some allies at the time (shocker, I know, we're so isolated and leaving everyone to burn nowadays). Some of these allies were less mellow about Pacifica's PM policy than we were. So, as victors of the war (coalition, remember?) they sought to rectify this. After negotiations (which took AGES of back and forth, I might add), a term was decided between BOTH sides (this includes Pacifica). I won't pretend that NPO came out happy or unscathed, but that was kinda the point of it. Lest I start to ramble, a recap: - Yes, Pacifica paid a price higher than "white peace" at the end of the last war. - Yes, this was a demand by the coalition of the so lovingly dubbed "Polarsphere" alliances. - No, Polaris was not a strong advocate of the price that was paid, but we weren't alone in our coalition and didn't call each and every shot. - No, you can't just twist history like that to make it more convenient for you to get your point across. It's fun and all, but people that were there tend to know what happened. Now let's all get back to counting the number of aid slots and shouting at big bad Polar to both be a coward for declaring war on tech farms and a weakling for not declaring enough war on tech farms.
  5. Kinda want to see that programming language now... Sounds like it could be the next big thing! o/ Fark and NATO!
  6. As announcements go, this was one of the finer ones in a while. o/ Fark
  7. Rush: Get back to me when you have a number of 300K nations to throw at them. It's easy to criticize if you're not being attacked by them, so I hope they attack TLR. That way you can show just what amazing strategy you have in store to immediately and soundly defeat them. Back onto the actual topic at hand: Thanks AO for coming in on ODN! o/ AO
  8. Hah hah, you're full of it. Sparta has been holding their own against TIO and NATO very well, even TIO/NATO agree. But at some point 2v1 starts to hurt and you have to ask for help. This is for every alliance. Ta-dah! Help is now here. o/ TOP o/ Umb
  9. First off, your nations don't seem THAT expended. Pretty nice high tier you've got going there for 1/3 of your alliance. Also it's good to see that the world still works in binary, I guess. Polaris didn't prevent it so that MUST mean that we approved of it, nay encouraged it and planned for it! I'm not sure how you think coalitions work but there is never 1 single alliance that decides how each and every counter will go and signs off on everything (well, NPO tried that in EQ and it worked out so well that nobody's touched that approach since). What I believe happened is that you came in, with your non-expended high-tier nations, on the other side. You had to be countered. You were countered with enough force to defeat you (as is kind of the point of a counter), and since the coalition knows that you fight well I guess they threw plenty of force in for good measure. However you're making it sound as if Polaris saw you going in and we were like "OKAY, I need at least 4 different AAs to hit these guys because lololololololol". If that's really what you believe, then I can't help you here.
  10. Sad but necessary. We're there for our allies. Sorry ODN, this one might sting a little. o/ CCC o/ Polaris
  11. You should probably also check in a few days before you say you're doing fine.
  12. So today we learned some fun things. 1. When Polaris declares on 1 of 3 possible targets and elects to choose the one they do not like (and view as a threat to boot), they are cowards and scum of the earth. 2. When Non Grata declares on 1 of 3 possible targets and elects to choose the one they do not like, they are benevolent overlords and we should all lick their boots and dance the happy dance of joy. Looks like someone's been training their double standards skill! Anyway, welcome to the war, enjoy the party, don't drink too much, and feel free to drop by at any time.
  13. This is crazy awesome. Here's to a good fight!
  14. I would certainly hope that all of your nations get a taste of blood in this war. Whose blood they will taste is something we'll have to see when it happens, I guess. I for one am looking forward to a long and entertaining war. On a somewhat related note, I don't think this guy is looking forward to a long and entertaining war: War declared at 9:01:35 PM. I'm not sure but is this a record? Do I win a prize? If so, where can I claim it?
  15. I'd just like to take a moment and thank Nobody Expects for helping me break 1 million casualties! It's not much but I've been getting the number up a lot quicker lately! Cheers for being a fun opponent :)
  16. It appears you've missed out on some basic math alterego, you're practically throwing stupidity around for the masses to receive. Considering we're all bean counters, allow me to count some beans for you. 1. You say you are outright destroying our <10K nations and they're all horrible and should feel bad for being attacked by BF1. We should also feel bad for letting them be attacked. 2. The highest infra count among the nations you have declared upon isn't above 3K. In fact, it's about 2500, with many even below 2K. 3. You can never destroy the full 2.5-3K infra in a single round, no matter how hard you try. HOWEVER, considering how hard you're trying to make us feel bad let's assume that you magically can destroy all the infra down to the last level. 4. With a standard 3BR 5 Factory setup, rebuying 2500 infra from level 1 costs ~30M. Rebuying 2999 infra costs ~43.5M. 5. Most of the nations you attacked have Federal Aid Commissions, allowing them to receive what we like to call MAD MONIEZ. This includes but is not limited to the highest one with 2500 infra. 6. A nation without FAC can receive 30M in a single cycle. A nation with FAC can receive 45M. In conclusion, you are doing absolutely no damage that can't be rebuilt instantly. Sure there's some discomfort, but our members understand that nations tend to get attacked while at war, and more to the point they understand that we can rebuild them with ease. I have not heard complaints about people saying "oh dear god help me for I am in death". That is also the reason we haven't sent out much aid, because very few have actually requested it. I was under the impression that you were familiar with the concept of not caring about pixels. Is it so impossible for our members to know it too? I like that you're going out with a bang, and you truly have some strong feelings about the dreaded bean counter folk, but dear god stop spouting your stupid lies that can be deconstructed by anyone that knows how math works.
  17. Suddenly, treaties between good folk everywhere! Congrats guys :)
