    First, my complements on the work that went into the OP. I always appreciate Rush's incites, even when I disagree.

    I was government in a now defunct AA and feel I can share a bit of what was OPSEC at the time, as a member of the oa coalition.

    LoSS came to NPL and wanted to roll with us during that war (it was the newest treaty each AA had and we were in the "I love you, man" phase). As the coalition was planning, LoSS also indicated they would really like a shot at NG, which fit in nicely with the undercurrents (that I was actually too naive to see) that Rush touched on. The only way anybody would make that happen was the VE signing.

    Please note, IRON threatened to hit LoSS in retaliation. I sincerely believe they would have. However, they were smart enough to see what would happen if they did. I, for example, threatened to hit them with NPL. While NPL's NS was no match to IRON, it would have been the end of the coalition and would have caused defeat, ultimately.

    On a completely different note, I would be curious to see what you have say about several other AAs.

    I have had some experience with this topic on both sides of it. I think the bigger issue isn't the poaching that happens between friends (i.e. MF telling me just to get SRA to merge into R&R: what is clearly a dig at somebody for the purposes of sport, which both parties go along with as sport isn't the issue). What is, however, a problem, is when the poacher(s) are unwilling to listen to No answers or are using the idea of poaching as a form of espionage. Even then, I think the former is worse than the latter.

    This. CN has spent so much time running out those who make the game fun, it actually succeeded. NpO only backdoors into wars now, NPO can't, TOP has no politically power. This is what you get.

    I'm actually okay with this prolonged peace. The last war went on for far too long. Longer than any previous great war. It's given the losing side enough time to rebuild warchests and tech. Thanks!

    There is some truth to this. It used to be the winning side would press its advantage, roll the losing side before it could rebuild again. Lather, rinse, repeat until enough people got pissed and did something about it. The cycle doesn't work.

    Ok, I have made a decision. I will tell you that many of my friends have strong-armed me, telling me where I would be a good fit. I'm simply waiting on approval from the AA, before I announce it officially.

    Thanks for the fun everybody. Maybe I'll do it again in 3 years.

    EDIT:

    I have joined SRA. In part, my decision is to spite all those people who thought MI6 was a forgone conclusion. You can't tell me what to do, so heh!

    This is a c/p of earlier, as I wanted to update and keep it fresh.

    Here is what I have thus far, in no particular order.

    IRON - Warrior hinted at a job.

    SRA - Dr3amW3aver chatted me up on IRC for a good long while and Xanth sent me multiple messages

    MI6 - Probably the most epic recruitment message I am aware of; then Mogar, a know rogue, promised to fight beside me in the next war if I join

    RIA - typically fun random and insane message in game + plus they offered waffles

    NPL - Wally told me that if I don't join, I have no balls

    Holy Roman Empire - Sir Kindle sent the world's most generic recruitment message and told me to change my color to pink

    MCXA - SuperCoolYellow used impressive understatement, jrkee also hinted at a job

    R&R - WarriorSoul has a claim on my soul and Ava beguiled me with a coup attempt

    NpO - Irish says it will feel like home.

    CRAP - "Think of all the puns you could use"

    Atlas - Johnap says they are good guys

    Guinness - BEER

    So many quality and a few not so quality choices. Any 3rd part input would be considered.

    Join whoever you want to, at the end of the day, you'll want to be somewhere you feel comfortable.

    True man. To be honest, there are a couple of AAs where I think I would really be a bad fit, but for the most part, as long as I can be myself, swear at everybody else, and rail against stupidity, I'd probably be happy. I really am enjoying the wooing attempts though. Pretty fun.

    You've had "recruit me" on your IRC tag, your OWF account and your OWF AA for days now.

    I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if no one has actually tried to recruit you by now, the issue might be the product, not the buyer.

    I typically don't respond to you, but since I moved to None about 2 hours ago, I'm not really worried about it. As for IRC, my tag is simply non-existent, rather than, as you claim, recruit me.

    Now that I am not in government, I feel safe to tell you, sir, to go $%&@ yourself.
