yet another uprising in Osea

Eggman Empire

OOC:A follow up from thisthread

IC: "Capitalist pigs, it was all they were." The man thought sourly, observing an APC and some Eggman soldiers near the checkpoint down the road. The area was heavily barricaded, with concrete barriers, barbed wire, and sand bags positioned in such a way that vehicles only had one way to go through, and going around would take too long. The man, Dimitri Rachovin, cursed the day the FRG had essentially sold the Osean province over to Eggman Empire to take care of. Eggman military forces rushed through the province, using heavy naval, air, and tank support to crush resistance points. Though Oseanic troops had fought bravely, they were outnumbered by technologically and numerically superior forces of the Eggman Empire. That, combined with the fact that Osea had just recently stopped fighting FRG had lead to the province's quick downfall.

The Eggman Government wasted no time in making it's presence known. Whereas FRG had allowed the communist party as a whole to survive, Eggman Empire cracked down on that hard. Any person displaying any sort of pro-communist paraphernalia, whether on their body, at their house, or in their place of business, was "investigated." Usually that meant being dragged off by Eggman soldiers and showing up the next day with bruises and cuts on your body, if you came back at all. And God help you if you showed off the Communist Osea flag. Houses that displayed it usually ended up as target practice, whether it be for tanks, artillery, or airstrikes. Anyone in any sort of government position who'd claimed to be a communist previously had been arrested and disappeared. Whole city councils had been taken away, replaced by military officers and bureaucrats who were flown in from Eggman Empire.

Living conditions weren't much better. Many cities were without power and running water, and thousands of people had lost their homes to fighting. Important infrastructure such as municipal buildings, roadways, and bridges had been damaged or demolished. However, one could argue that the Oseans brought it on themselves by fortifying such structures. It was obvious that though the Eggman army had been ruthless and brutal, they were also merciful at times. Towns and villages that hadn't resisted (much) had been spared (mostly). Unfortunately, these towns suddenly found themselves overwhelmed with refugees, so that made the point moot.

Although one could say the "occupation" of Eggman Empire was brutal, it could also be called fair. Eggman troops, especially those of the Engineering Corps, were hard at work to restore Osea to a functioning level. Supplies and food had been sent to and received by refugees, and several dozen temporary housing camps had been set up to provide shelter for the homeless. Of course, as long as that particular area wasn't causing problems for Eggman troops.

Dimitri only seemed to focus on the former of these points, and viewed the Eggman government and their troops as capitalist oppressors who were only there to exploit the working man, suck up all Osea's resources, and then leave the province in shambles. They were scum, and scum must be wiped away, no matter the cost. He thought of his brothers who'd fought these oppressors only to lose his country and his life to them. Dimitri snarled. They must pay. He inhaled briefly, and then stomped down on the gas peddle. The cargo van he was in shot out of the alley way, the Communist Osea flag painted on one side, and the Hammer and sickle on the other. The side with the hammer and sickle also said "rise up against the capitalist oppressors!".

As he raced to the checkpoint, he pressed down on a red trigger. A beeping behind him told Dimitri the countdown had started. Eggman Soldiers quickly noticed the van race towards their checkpoint and opened fire as cameras tracked the whole event. The APC beside the checkpoint opened up, and a 25mm HE round tore into Dimitri's back right tire, causing the van to flip and roll. The vehicle came to a stop as it smashed into a cement barrier. As soldiers surrounded the wrecked van, Dimitri looked back to see if his payload was still safe and secure. It was. Before his vision faded to black, Dimitri screamed "Down with the capitalist oppressors!"

*00:00:01*

*00:00:00*

*BOOM*

The explosion from the 6 combined 155 artillery shells Dimitri had stolen blew away the soldiers, the checkpoint, the APC, and left nothing but a giant crater.

Workers of the world, unite! A grave injustice is being done to our brothers and sisters in Osea province, now under the imperialist rule of Eggman Empire. The slimy capitalists have breached the sovereignty of Osea and proceeded to kill and terrorize all those who openly claim to be communist. This should not surprise us. Eggman Empire has a long and bloody history of oppressing the worker's voice. Any attempts to form any type of communist, or even socialist parties in Eggman Empire has always been broken up and crushed. Rise up! Fight for your trampled brethren! Send weapons, munitions, yourselves even! This fight cannot be won with guns alone! We also plead to the openly communist countries around the world:Help us! Do whatever you can to convince Eggman Empire to end their tyrannical reign. Boycott their products, protest! Governments, if you are serious about your communist leanings, don't stand idly by while innocents die! You must fight!

The pamphlet would mostly go unnoticed in the GDR. Its leader never had been too friendly with the Osean communists, and he didn't see a bloody rebellion and force as good things to use when trying to bring Communism to the masses.

He has no sympathy for these 'radical communists', as he called all those who tried using weapons instead of words to spread communism.

He did, however, send a short note to the Eggman Empire.

Greetings.
I have no sympathy for those who try to spread Communism with force.
Have your way with these radicals, but please do spare those who would rather use words and peaceful means to achieve more. Or at least send those more peaceful people to us, so they can live in a Rational Communist society.

Regards,
Lynneth Sarkara

Since the original uprising had started in Stromfjørd, it only seemed natural that it would happen again there. Although this time it was much more mellow...Relatively speaking. A mass of over 10,000 thousand people had filled into the rubble strewn streets to protest Eggman Empire's "occupation" of Osea. Thousands of signs waved through the air, proclaiming such things as "rise up against the oppressors!", "Eggman out!", "Imperialist scum go home!" "workers of the world unite!" and other such pro-communist/anti-Eggman slogans. Many had worn red, and had pins or signs of the Hammer and sickle. Some brave souls even waved the Osea cummunist and hammer-and-sickle flags. However, these type of protests were frowned upon in Eggman Empire. As such, the powers that be had ordered the area the protesters blocked off to "contain" them. In reality, if push came to shove, it would make it easier for Eggman troops to "quell" any riots. Speaking of which, things were getting very heated.

"Return to your homes please!" An officer atop an APC pleaded through a megaphone.

"You blew our homes up!" An man from the crowd shouted. The surrounding protesters voiced their agreement with the man's statement.

"You all should at least have temporary dwellings. I know because I helped assign some of you to them! Disperse from this area and go away for your own good!" The officer replied. Above, Hammerhead gunship choppers circled the massive crowd.

"Tent cities! No running water! No sanitation! No proper sewage treatment!" A different protester bellowed.

"They're concentration camps!" Another one yelled.

"%$^& them and @$%^ you!" A young man with a black neckerchief over his face screams. Anti-Eggman sentiment rises and the officer looks helplessly up at the droning gunships overhead. The orders about "neutralizing" hostile civilians still burned in his mind. The order was hardly cryptic. The crowd began to press against the barricades and the officer noticed his soldiers grip their rifles harder. He gulped nervously. This situation was about to go from bad to extemely worse.

"Please, for your own safety, just Go. Home!" The officer all but got on his knees and begged. His efforts were for naught. A gang of militant activists threw motlov cocktails and a slew of rocks at the APC and barricade. The officer narrowly avoided being lit on fire as a firebomb splashed against the APC and started to burn. The damage was purely superficial, however, it was enough to spook the gunner and the soldiers how didn't like being pelted with flammable substances and hard rocks. They opened fire. Above, gunships took note of the attack, and seeing fires begin to form around their comrades, the pilots opened up. Armor piecing rounds designed to tear apart aircraft frames and punch holes in armored vehicles simply turn their targets into a bloody mist. As the crowd turned into a frenzied, panicked mob, barriers were overran, soldiers were beat down, and the protesters began to attack Eggman troops. The situation had turned into a nightmare for both sides.
