Gnost Dural
APOSTOLIC LETTER MOTU PROPIO OF THE HOLY FATHER BENEDICTUS PP. XVII CONCERNING THE HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE OF THE GERMAN NATION From the Early Middle Ages onward, the Holy Roman Empire played an important part within the politics of Europe. The Empire, which became especially important at the end of the 15th century, and the throughout the 16th century had generally been a stalwart and ever persistent defender of the Catholic Faith, and has helped shaped the modern day affairs of the continent in a variety of different ways. The recent announcement of the reformation of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation is a prime example of this. While originally reformed some time ago and met with no small amount of hostility, the Vatican sees this new version, or relaunch, as a serious attempt at reform and governing under a peaceful, Catholic faith. It is my firm belief that the leaders of the HRE truly understand the desires both politically and spiritually, of their people. That this is what has motivated them to re-create an important figure of the 15th and 16th centuries. This position has been shared jointly by the Prince Electors, and His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVII. With the understanding between the Holy Roman Catholic Church and the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation that the HRE will work tirelessly for peace, The Vatican and His Holiness formally supports the new nation of HRE. We trust in our Lord, Jesus Christ, to provide ample situations for the new nation to prove it's sincerity for the desires of peace, cooperation between nations and diplomatic dialogue. Therefore, by my authority as Pope of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, we do confer the title of Emperor upon the family of Alexander I, now Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, and affirm this as a hereditary title transmissible by male primogeniture only and only so long as the family line belongs to the Holy Roman Catholic Church and perseveres in their obedience to the apostolic Holy See. Given in Rome, at St. Peter's, on the eighth day of November in the year of our Lord 2009, the first year of my Pontificate. Benedictus P.P. Lynneth
"I am deeply honoured that His Holiness has chosen to confirm me as Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. Should he wish to crown me personally, I will travel to Rome and the Vatican for this monumental occasion."
Comrade
The Polish Population of Molakia is reported to have started singing "Rota" and started throwing flaming dung at local churches. Police were too busy laughing and drinking coffee to respond.
Agostinho Neto
The Italian Republic asks the Vatican if the denonym "Roman" is really necessary for a nation whose historical roots are deeply influenced by the Germanic people and have little in common with the Romano-Italian society. The Holy Roman Empire was just an attempt of revival, the Eastern Roman Empire or Byzantine Empire was the only legitimate continuation of the Roman Empire in the Middle Ages. We also wonder where did the Pope get the authority to declare someone Holy Roman Emperor, after it has been proven fact the Donatio Constantini was a fake. Gnost Dural
His Holiness was asked to appoint him, and give blessing from, the Vatican by the then Austrian Emperor. He viewed the ascension and creation of the HRE as permissible by the pope only via private communications earlier this week. We realize that the pope has no real claim to appoint anyone as Emperor without consent. We submit that the manner in which the Austrian king was appointed is not important given that he requested a papal blessing, and he viewed it as essential to the creation of the HRe and relations with the Vatican. It is no more different than anyone else claiming he is emperor, or himself claiming he was Emperor. We merely gave our blessing, couched in ceremonial terms. Further, the German people as it stands today owe much of their culture to the Roman Empire, and much of the Roman Empire was impacted by the barbarians of Germania in the later days of the Empire. The reason we approve of this name, is essentially because of the long standing ties between the HRE in history, and the Catholic church.
