Sercan communique to Nation of Nod

We have reasons to believe that an attack launched by your service men has destroyed a Sercan base and killed all Sercan service men. This is completely unacceptable and we demand an explanation for this cowardly attack.

From the Office of Nyani Oshibutu, Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Nation of Nod

These allegations are grave indeed... I will need all the information you have to allow your accusation to be brought before the Ministry of Military Affairs. Where was this base? Force composition? Casualties? Any Captives?

While I can sympathize with the families and loved ones of the deceased on a personal note, until I recieve further details on this incidence I cannot comment further on Diplomat-level talks.

-Nyani Oshibutu, Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Nation of Nod

P.S: To whom am I speaking? Other than the rather the well intentioned attempt at humanitarian aid by your government during the EAW, the NoN and the Kingdom of Serca have not had any diplomatic relations in the past.

Well we have the bodies of the attackers wearing the uniforms that looks to be assoicated with your nation and saying pro Nod-Nationalities and sayings. Now i do not want to just jump the gun and point fingers its just the evidence is very incriminating.

"Hmph, thats a start. Before we delve further into this I want to make it clear that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Military Affairs are two very different entities within the Governing body politic of the NoN.

This will make any sort of investigation by my people difficult without further details. I want your trust - both of us have stakes in what transpires after this event. I believe it would be best in both our interests if we work together.

Again, where was this base located, what strategic importance was it and are there any survivors? How many casualties were inflicted on both sides? Are there any Cabal-specific insignias on the bodies?"

Tanzania? What the hell would Michaelson, Arlovsky or Dante want with that place? Nyani thought as she started to rummage through her makeshift office. While she was spared no expense on what lodgings she'd have in the hospital, a ward is still no place to conduct diplomatic talks.

Rolling slightly in bed, she pushed the curtains surrounding her awkwardly with her left arm, momentarily forgetting that it was a clever prosthetic from Vinilandese doctors. While anyone looking at her would not be able to tell that she was a recent amputee, Nyani still felt as though she was missing something vital. The doctors assured her that given time and practice, she would no more notice her missing limb than a passing person on the street would.

'Ugh.. my arm... it was a good, faithful arm, and now its gone...' with a shake of her head, she stopped muttering to herself - she had important work to do... her woe could wait for later.

After finally finding the right information, she called up General Arlovsky.

Vladimir, how are you today?

Ah! Hello my dear! I am doing wonderfully now that we know you are doing better! I am terribly sorry I could not visit you at the hospital... sadly in the NoN it seems that the Ministry of Military Affairs is always busier than any other!

Awww, Vlad, don't worry! I received that 'arm warmer' Nastya sent me. Tell her I love it and will use it whenever I can.

You know, I TOLD her you wouldn't need it! That woman is always so hard-headed. She refused to stop knitting it!

Its alright, really! Your wife's so sweet you know, I wouldn't want to hurt her feelings... Please, I insist!

Veeery well Nyani. I'll be sure to let the old woman have her way... Now then, what does the Minister of Foreign Affairs want with an old man like me?

Vlad, the Sercans called... it seems that we've hit a base of theirs in Tanzania... hard. They DEMAND to know why and what actions we will take to recompense, if any...

A sound was heard by Nyani over the phone, as if Vlad had just sputtered out a mouthful of coffee.

WHAT! Those fools! Any band of rebels that attacks and they blame it on us! Pardon my tone dear, please, but this is just too much... We've already had to fight off the UMS and the RA... and now Serca?

Before you write this off, please, hear me out. They suffered an almost complete and total loss of the base and personnel. These attackers were highly trained and well equipped... apparently with NoN weapons and armour bearing our insignias. 24 casualties opposed to 'our' 3... are you sure Vladimir? The situation is quite damning.

Bah! Tell the Sercans they should train their men better, so that any run-of-the-mill band of rebels won't wipe out their regulars! 3 losses?? If it was the Elite Cadre or Heavy Infantry, then I had nothing to do with it - and they would have lost more than 24 men to them... Dear, ask Iago, but in all honesty... If it WAS the Fate Teams... there would be none of our people dead and the Sercans would have no idea who hit them...

*Sigh* Thank you Vladimir... wish Nastya the best for me, and I hope to see Aleksandr and Vasily soon! I know Janus loves to play with those two!

Very well my dear... take care... my grandchildren will see you soon enough.

Nyani hung up the phone. Perplexed, she decided to follow her old friend's advice and call up the Ministry of National Intelligence. General Arlovsky had always been a father figure to her as a child and throughout her career - she believed him wholeheartedly when he said that the NoN Regular Armed Forces had nothing to do with the attack. Vladimir was devout, loyal and brave... not conniving and scheming.

Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the MNI's head, Iago. The man always had an aura of guile about him... Although proving his worth and loyalty to the NoN's cause time and time again, Nyani always held the feeling that something was not right with the man...

You have reached the Ministry of National Intelligence... please hold for your query to be properly filtered and scanned for integrity.

The automated voice rang out, and soon the sound of a steady beeping was heard over the line, where one would usually suspect to hear Muzak. Dozens upon dozens of encryption and tracker data was flowing through the wire, filtering and checking for operational security. Finally, after a time, Iago answered.

Yes, this is Iago..... what is it?

Iago, what's happening in Tanzania?

Sounding generally interested, the muffled sounds of Iago leaning forward in his chair was heard.

Ahhhh.... Mrs Oshibutu, Heroine of the Nation of Nod... I am at your service!

The man's voice was barely above mocking, Iago was well versed in the art of Speechcraft.

With regards to your query, we know of the attack on the Tanzanian border base, and we know that the Sercans wish to imply us... I can assure you that we were unfortunately not behind this attack and that the Sercans do not have ANY evidence that could concretely implicate us in these deaths. Besides, this job was sloppy at best... definitely not at the par of my Fate Assassins, as Vladmir previously mentionned...

How did you know that!?! We were speaking on a secure line!

Lets just say that I make it my job to make sure a 'secure line' isn't....

Thank you Iago, we will speak further if necessary.

As you wish milady.

"Urrgh! Such insolence!" This second meeting was not as warm and full of small talk as the first - purely business.

It was done. Without further input from the Sercan Diplomatic team, Nyani could do no more but wait and hope that news of this potential Public Relations disaster did not spread.

Getting back into bed, Nyani propped her Laptop upon her knees and began furiously typing a formal response to her equal at Serca, Kobe Johnson.

From the Office of Nyani Oshibutu, Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Nation of Nod to the Kingdom of Serca's Kobe Johnson (Position unknown)

I have spoken to the respective Ministries on this issue and both have assured me that the attack on the Tanzanian border was not conducted by our personnel. They have suggested that you carefully review your proof and search for rebels or other destabilizing forces that may be using our insignias to incite an altercation between Serca and the NoN.

Our nation believes that it is ultimate folly to turn a potential friend into an enemy. I repeat that I have been given full assurances that the NoN did not attack the Sovereign Kingdom of Serca.

If you have any further issues, please do not hesitate to contact me Mr. Johnson. I am here to help keep relations between our two nations intact, as I am sure you have been tasked as well.

If you wish to conduct a joint investigation, I will be glad to see to it that NoN military and civilian assets alike be given orders to comply fully with Sercan investigators.

Due to dangerous Radiation near the Horn of Africa, I believe it will be in our best interests if we held the talks in your jurisdiction.... I will leave at once.

A flight of modified MILAC Mi-24 Ravager Gunships departed from Lideta Military Complex headed due South-West, towards co-ordinates given by the Sercans. The three helicopters flew in wedge formation, the lead carrying Nyani and her retinue, the flankers carrying her host of Elite Cadre bodyguards. Although the Arabian War* was over tensions were still high. In trying times such as these, The Executive Minister had no intention of losing his most cherished diplomat to anything short of Apocalypse.

Turning towards the passenger compartment, normally reserved for a Militant Cell of 10 fully equipped soldiers, Nyani's pilot surveyed his heavily modified, yet precious cargo.

The helmeted head slowly scanned the faces of a half dozen women, all clad in customary black uniform and berets, before coming to a rest upon the Minister of Foreign Affairs. She was an attractive woman, no doubt, yet the well known fact that almost all politicians within the NoN were former assassins did much in garnering respect from their male bodyguards and discouraging rowdy behaviour with but a glance. In the NoN, the only thing more dangerous than Nodic guns were Nodic women. The pilot was no exception to this unwritten rule, and choosing his tone and demeanor carefully, spoke up.

"Milady, we are being hailed by three Sercan Fighters, NoN Designation: Frogfoot. They are bringing us down towards Sergiana."

"Affirmative Noble One, follow them down. I expect that their Capital is where they wish to meet!" She hollered into her helmet's mic, the deafening sounds of the rotor blades chopping the air above.

"Err...Roger. Heading down." Picking up a communication's link with the two flanking Helicopters, he spoke.

"Romeo Four, I need you to spread formation and cover the right flank, over."

The pilot spoke in typical pilot drawl, formal but with an air of boredom, not unlike a Subway Train Conductor calling out the next stop.

"Roger that! Turning six, we're on it." With that, the right flanking helicopter widened the gap between his craft and Noble One's. The intention was to create a literal buffer between the lead gunship and any flanking Sercan fighters during the wedge's banking descent to the left. If anything was to go awry, Romeo Four would take the hit.

Over the three Choppers' intercomms, Noble One's announcement was heard.

"This is Noble One, we are approaching the LZ now. Touch down in 15."

Nyani sighed. Recent events in the Red Sea made this diplomatic mission much harder for her. She did not want to leave the NoN proper as there were many pressing concerns following the Nuclear Strike on the Aether Empire and its total destruction that she would rather handle. As the three helicopters and their escorts banked to the left she raised her prosthetic arm to reach for a train-style handle, gazing out of the open side-panel towards the Sercan ground below.

So much open, green space... Such inefficiency!

As the plane lands the Sercan fighters return to the airforce on the outskirts of the city.

Once landed, The MoD will be escorting the Ms. Nyani to the limo. Once inside the limo talks shall begin as soon as the limo drives off.

Lets hope all goes well and our northern neighbor can become a very close friend.

Noble One had reached landfall. Touching down on a tarmac, its side cargo door open and rotors still spinning, seven women were seen waving off their pilots and hopping off. All were clutching their berets to their heads as the whipping winds of the rotor blades accelerated and the helicopter took off.

Nyani was at the lead of the group, and seeing a man presumably Kobe, she strode forward and shook his hand with a wide smile, her entourage standing close and surveying their surroundings with a mix of apprehension and awe.

"Greetings!" Nyani shouted over the buzzing the two escort helicopters made over their heads. The two were slowly descending, each intent on dropping the Escort vehicles they held beneath them with cables. After the Hunters were a few feet above ground, their cords blew away and they dropped, landing with a thump as their oversized tires absorbed the impact. The gunships then flew forwards and landed beside the unarmed transports.

The same could not be said for the bodyguards exiting the craft, however. 10 men from each helicopter jumped out and ran across the tarmac, coming to a halt on either side of the two delegates in two rows of 10, before simultaneously shouldering their weapons and saluting.

Over the sound of the now departing helicopters and clanking armour, Nyani spoke up again. "Don't mind the precautions the EM has given me... we trust you, really, but recent events have force our leader's hands in tightening security around essential personnel. That, and the fact that he dotes me!" she added with a chuckle.

Taking the Sercan man's hand, Nyani entered the waiting limo with her entourage. As soon as the doors to the black limousine closed with a bang, the Elite Cadre Bodyguards immediately broke their formation and ran to their transports. With their turrets removed, the Hunters could seat 2 +8 armed men. Boarding their vehicles post haste, with two loud screeches they followed.

"Welcome to Serca, I hope your flight was pleasant?"

Kobe greeted with a smile. He was a little shocked at all the precautions NoN sent with her but he knew they ment well.

"Would you like a beverage of any kind?" He points to the mini bar over to her left

The whole point of this meeting to get to the bottom of the attacks in Tanzania along thier common border. He has a feeling that NoN had nothing to do with it but he had to be sure.

"Welcome to Serca, I hope your flight was pleasant?" Kobe said with a smile. Feigning genuine amazement, Nyani spoke up.

"Why yes! I must say that your nation is quite beautiful from above!" In fact, she disliked what she saw- the wide open areas as wasted space. For all she cared, the world could be entirely paved, if only there was enough infrastructure to support everyone comfortably.

"As for my flight, well, lets just say I wish the Executive Minister had allowed my team more.... freedom in travel. He likes to think of himself as our father and us as his daughters... while sweet, it can be a tad overbearing at times."

"Would you like a beverage of any kind?" the man pointed to a mini bar.

"Why, thank you very much Mr. Johnson! I'd like something non-alcoholic please. While we drink, I'd kindly like to know what is on our itinerary for today."

  • 2 weeks later...

"Sure help youself to anything there."

"Now I have a strong feeling that your nation had nothing to do with the attacks in Northern Tanzania but we have reasons to believe that maybe someone in your government had given supplies to possibly rebels in the region. Now we dont want to jump to any conclusions, but for the safety oif my nation I must get to the bottom of this."

Kobe thinks deep to himself.A war in Africa will destablize this region and nothing but horrid things will come from it. But I must do whatever will keep my country safe from invaders. On the other hand we could damage relations with a possible friend and ally. I must take this with delicatcy.
