PLEASE let me finish this RP in peace. I don't want intervention by anyone, no matter who. This is internal, even if public unless otherwise noted.

OOC comments are appreciated, as are IC comments, but please keep offtopic down. For once, I will report people who go offtopic.

"..And we now cut to Klagenfurt, Kärnten - or Carinthia, for our international audience - where Sasha Walleczek is reporting on the demonstrations for us. Sasha?"

walleczek_sasha.jpg

"Thank you, Hans. As you can see, behind me are numerous protesters, many waving nordic flags with corresponding signs and runes. Red flags with a white circle, in which is a black rune, possibly to remind of various Martencist and Nordland ideals.

I have already talked to some of them and almost all appear to agree that King Alexander, I quote, 'Is a weak !@#$%^&, caving in to multi-ethnic pressure and failing to enforce a country with only one ethnicy and culture, Nordism.', and other things along those lines. They identified themselves as 'Nordic national socialists' and, going from their statements, seem to be radical in their views.

Predictably, counter-protests have formed rather quickly, with communists marching alongside Monarchists and other ideologies - many of which should oppose each other. This shows that, in the face of Nords, the populace is united, but to enforce peaceful protests without escalations, hundreds of policemen have been mobilized, some already having been issued riot-shields as precaution."

The camera turned to show some policemen.

"Currently, both protests and counter-protests are peaceful, and many, especially people living in the district Annabichl where the protests are happening, do hope that it will stay so.

That's it for the time being from Klagenfurt. We will of course report any-"

"Cover!"

Both journalist and camera turned to where the sound approximately came from. For a second or two, nothing happened, but then flames licked one of the police vehicles.

"This is the Police Department of Klagenfurt." came from a loudspeaker while firemen who were stationed only a few dozen meters away began to extinguish the flames.

"Cease all aggressive movement immediately. Surrender any weapons that you have brought or we will have to arrest every single one of you until the perpetrator is found. This is your only warning."

Walleczek seemed to be highly nervous by now, her eyes peeking more than once towards the policemen and the protesters, one of whom had just thrown a molotov cocktail.

"It appears that a rioter from the nordic camp has just thrown a Molotov bomb. The police has responded by demanding complete disarmament of all protesters, but they don't look like they'll obey. More as the situation develops."

The camera kept filming the nord protesters, who were slowly moving towards the police barrier.

"...and I just got info that a 'copter of ours is looking at the scene from the air. We'll cut to Robert Hochner now."

th_SevenNews.jpg

"Thank you, Hans!"

Hochner had to shout to overcome the helicopter's noise, if barely.

"As you can see below me..!" The camera pointed downwards while Hochner continued speaking.

chopper_protest.jpg

"..There are numerous nordic protesters, beginning to gather at a junction nearby a barrier of policemen and -vehicles, splitting the nords from the counter-protesters! Harry, turn the camera!"

The camera swept over the counter-protest, where people had gathered at a large plaza and built a few tents, for currently unknown purposes - at least unknown to the viewer.

Counterprotest.jpg

"I'm not entirely sure what those nords are planning, neither do I know what these tents are for. Still, I'll keep you updated on the big picture from up here! Robert Hochner, out!"

The picture went back to the news speaker, Hans Georg Heinke, who was looking to the side, then nodded.

"Thank you, Robert. Now, we'll cut to Sasha Walleczek once more, to get her view of the situation. Sasha?"

walleczek_sasha.jpg

"I hear you, Hans. The situation down here is getting more and more tensed with every passing minute. Several protesters have been isolated and arrester by now, because the police can't possibly get to them in any other way. They protect each other too much for a mass-arrest to happen, as it seems, and another Molotov bomb was thrown, though it came short and hit the ground some meters before the police.

Several policemen already came over from the other side of the street, where the counter-protesters are gathering. Those are mostly keeping to themselves, waving their signs into any approaching camera, and ignoring the police, something that cannot be-"

"Cover!"

Once more, a Molotov cocktail flew, this time exploding on a riot shield, burning it and the asphalt below. Quickly, fire-extinguishers were brought to quell the flames.

"Oh god, another Molotov bomb...This is really getting worse every minute."

She looked behind the camera, probably at her camera man. "Come on, let's get a bit further away from here. I don't want to be hit by one of these."

They moved back, behind the police barrier, while the camera man kept holding the camera towards the barrier. He climbed onto a pickup truck afterwards, refocusing the camera to show what was going on behind the barrier.

"Are you getting everything?"

"Yeah. No problem."

Crack!

Suddenly, a gunshot filled the air, and almost everyone who had heard it turned his or her head towards the source - the nord protesters.

Had a camera been over there, it could have documented as a police officer was clutching his chest, roughly at the area where his heart was. Luckily, the advanced armour had stopped the bullet, yet there was the shock of the 9mm impacting on the armor, shockwaves sent through the immediate impact region, only helping to bring the man closer to unconsciousness from the great pain.

Two officers rapidly got the man out of the line, towards medics that had originally been intended to care for civilians. They went to work, while the loudspeaker sounded.

"Cease fire at once. Should you not do so, then we will be forced to respond in kind."

Obviously, the police would be using rubber ammunition, though each officer had been issued two magazines of live ammo for cases where things really got out of control.

Which they did, right now. Suddenly, and without warning, several Molotovs flew towards the police, the 'Cover' shout drowned in the noise of gunfire.

Somehow, in a split-moment of relative silence, someone could be heard shouting "Down with the King!".

Sasha and her camera man could just stare in silence as the policemen fell back behind their vehicles, for now using the rubber ammunition to fell as many rioters as they could.

Nearby them, an officer shouter into his radio, the camera man having the presence of mind to turn the camera towards that officer.

"This is an emergency, Case Zero! I repeat, Case Zero! This is a revolt!"

Words that would go around the world, broadcast live by the Channel Seven reporters Sasha Walleczek and Martin Winters.

The Martencist Party of Nordheim, the Nordlandic Council and the Aesir take this opportunity to remind everyone that "Nordic" is different from "Nordlandic" and that National Socialism is an ideal that stands against Nordlandic thought as well as Martencism.

"We do not support this. National Socialists are one of the many enemies we faced in both Silver Revolutions. We are deeply concerned to see such a thing in Europe, and hope that the State will be able to stop them."

"...which is a possibility, according to leading sociologist Markus Brummer. Now, back to the topic of the da-"

Heinke was interrupted, looking to the side, where a hand appeared and gave him some updates.

"I'm...just getting this update on the situation. It seems that in several southwestern cities, such as Innsbruck, Salzburg, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Saalfelden, additional riots have broken out, once again instigated by people claiming to be either Nordic or Nordlandic National Socialists. The situation doesn't seem to be as bad as in Klagenfurt yet, where the first revolt broke out.

Sasha, can you hear me?"

walleczek_sasha.jpg

"Yes, Hans, quite clearly!"

She had to shout because of the continuous gunfire nearby, probably from policemen and revolters still fighting.

"Not much has changed. The police did, however, expend their non-lethal ammunition now, and are using live ammunition, no longer shooting to disable, but shooting to kill. This is unfortunately necessary, as it slows the rioters down, hopefully for long enough that the police can evacuate the counter-protesters out of the city. We'll have to leave soon, as well. In fact, I'm already standing besides my car in case it gets necessary.

According to an officer from the police department, the National Guard and Army should arrive within the next fifteen minutes with heavy equipment to quell the riot as quickly as possible. I do hope that they arrive on time, because from what I've seen, " She pointed towards the barrier, to which the camera turned seconds later, "there have been at least a dozen wounded or killed police officers by now, if not more. I can't possibly estimate the amount of protesters that have been disabled or killed already, there's way too many of them, and they're using each others as shields!

But I wonder why they haven't attacked yet, they have superior numbers.."

The camera kept filming the scene when, suddenly, the characteristic explosion of a HE tank round, fired from a 120mm smoothbore barrel, tore through the police line. The noise was overwhelming, Sasha covering her ears while the camera man luckily had well-isolating headphones on at the moment. The picture did shake considerably, and suddenly the lines of the Nordics or Nordlanders or whatever else they currently claimed to be split.

"They have...they have a tank! Oh my god, no! Where did they get a tank?!"

Sasha was terrified at the sight of the tank appearing, driving towards the barrier and simply through everything the police had thrown at the protesters.

BOOM

1249617868894.jpg

The HE round ripped the line of policemen nearby the counter-protesters apart, at least one body sent a few meters through the air.

"Oh god! Quick, get into the car, we need to get away from this..!"

The camera man turned the camera - and presumably, himself - towards Sasha, nodded and then turned the camera around. "Sorry, guys, but we'll have to go now. See you later!"

And then it was dark.

BOZEN, SÜDTIROL - In the german speaking province of Bozen-Südtirol, at least four people were injured when security forces opened fire to disperse demonstrators who protested in support of German nordic national socialists in Austria.

Despite warnings issued by the police, thousand angry protesters poured into the streets of Bozen. Police used tear gas and fired live rounds to quell the demonstration, injuring several people. Police said the protesters had turned violent and pelted security forces with stones.

The city has been virtually shut down, with police imposing restrictions to stop the protests. Several former separatist leaders are under house arrest.

"Come on...Come on..!"

But it didn't start. The car simply didn't start, apparently choking itself or something along those lines.

"That damned battery must be empty, goddamned diesel."

"We gotta find another way then, and- quick, get out!" As he was saying that, the camera man unbuckled his belt and got out of the car as quickly as he could, Sasha doing the same on the other side without thinking about the 'why'. Simon - the camera man - had saved her life before by shouting a command like that.

Thus, only once she was out of the car and was several meters away from it did she turn around - just in time to watch the tank drive over the vehicle, the left tread deforming metal and fabric where Walleczek had been sitting only seconds ago.

"That was a new car..!"

It wasn't really, but the many movies where a new car had been destroyed and the owner said 'It was new' had done their work, proving that consumer culture was a bad thing. Or maybe not. Regardless, once the armoured vehicle had passed, Simon ran over to her.

"Sasha, we need to get away from here."

"Yes, I know. I know." She looked around frantically, trying to find a narrow street through which they could escape.

Such a street was found soon enough and they dashed towards it while behind them, the police desperately tried to slow the advancing hordes of nords - they were called 'NatSocs' by most mainstream-media in Austria - down just a bit, as the counterprotesters were dispersing, trying to either leave for their homes, or exit the city altogether.

123750.png

At times, a single officer would try to slow the NatSocs, only to be overwhelmed minutes later.

Sasha and Simon were some of those trying to leave the city, knowing that it would be turned into hell by the frantic rebels, somehow, most likely while trying to defend their 'conquest' from the military.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

All over the country, the military was mobilizing and going to the highest alert possible for internal threats - not DefCon 1, but IntCon Zero, a system used for designation of the likeliness of a full-scale rebellion or even civil war. IntCon Ten was standard in peacetime, when everything was calm. IntCon Six was standard war status, while anything higher showed considerable strife within the nation. IntCon Five was a large demonstration going our of control.

IntCon One a larger-scale rebellion, involving some thousand or ten thousand people, not including the forces needed to subjugate them.

IntCom Zero was equivalent to a full-scale rebellion or civil war, possibly involving hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions.

Standard procedure set in. The affected regions were put under Martial Law, border controls were strengthened, curfews were enacted, as well as numerous other things. In theory, it was to ensure the stability of the country in these hard times.

In practice, the benevolent Monarchy transformed almost overnight into a highly regulated, militaristic and oppressive totalitarian regime, even if only temporarily, for the duration of the 'tensions' as they were called officially.

The press was censored, denying the revolters any exposition of their views, not that anyone within the country would listen to them, aside from those already sympathetic to their cause. The censoring would also ensure that no un-needed information would leave the country, hopefully ensuring that other countries did not intervene without an actual cause.

A general statement was sent to other nations by the government, stating that 'Everything is under control, and there will be no need to send aid for the time being.', or something along those lines.

It merely showed that nothing was under control and that the affected regions would need extensive rebuilding after everything was over.

"This is not good. Thank God Xinjiang did not erupt like this," Revin George, Minister of Interior said.

OOC: Hate to barge in, but how does a mob of people hide a tank from helicopters' view? Did they just shuffle the tank's parts around and built them together in one of those tents?

OOC: Send such questions per PM, please.

The tank was in a large garage, and I didn't mention the helicopter in the post where it appeared - perhaps the chopper was taking a look elsewhere, or was refueling?

"Simon..? Simon, are you there..?"

Sasha did not dare speak louder than a whisper, and even that made her worry, that she may be found and...that they, the NatSocs would do things with her, things that she had seen them do on the street, in the open after they were largely unrestricted near the center of the city, after the military was forced to establish a perimeter almost 20 kilometers away because of unexpected bombardement from old artillery, most likely from the times of Nordland or possibly even earlier times.

"Sasha, I'm there. Why aren't you sleeping?"

"I can't...Don't you hear the cannons and the fighting?"

"I do hear it, but I try to ignore it as best I can."

"Does it work?"

"Partially...My sleep's light. I wake up easily."

"Mhm...Okay. I'll try to sleep again..."

"Good night, Sasha."

"Night, Simon."

Both closed their eyes again, trying to sleep.

Riots.jpg

Outside, hell was going on, and the two were lucky they had found an already-looted building. Otherwise, rebels would most certainly have found and dragged them onto the street, where Simon would have been humiliated, quite possibly forced to consume waste, amongst other things. Sasha would have been defiled and humiliated by them, the mental scars incredibly hard to heal, if possible at all.

Luckily, this did not happen to them...But to others. In this first night alone, dozens would find their end. Men, women, children, it did not matter to the people doing it. They were the young, unexperienced and, unfortunately, overeager supporters of this 'Golden Revolution' as both the NatSocs and the media began calling it.

The last few hours had been fairly uneventful, in a sense. Neither were they captured, nor were they seen, thanks to sometimes very thick smoke that erupted from buildings, metal barrels burning cars and numerous other things. This smoke was both an advantage as well as a disadvantage for those keeping the fires burning: The advantage, they couldn't be observed as easily from the air or space, making it thus harder for the military to plan strikes at their positions.

The disadvatage, any who decided they would resist could use the smoke as cover and either strike quickly and disappear, or get others to join them. That was reality within the cities themselves, those that had been struck by the NatSoc menace.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Reality without was quite different. There, grizzled veterans of previous wars prepared their defenses, careful to not reveal too early what they had managed to plunder from old military depots, some so old that they had been forgotten even by previous governments, others built in newer times, but not cared for by the current Monarchy.

All in all, these weapons the rebels had were powerful for world-standards - who could claim to own Panzer VII tanks from the old Greater German Reich, or StA 12 assault rifles?

Few, if any at all.

These weapons, while technologically inferior and older than the Austrian Leopard 3A1 tanks, would be used by far more experienced crews than those of the Kingdom, whose troops had never fought any serious war and some of which were actually completely new, drafted into the military instead of keeping a standing army up and running.

The average age of an Austrian tank crew was 23. On average, the driver was 19, the second gunner - operating the secondary guns - 22, the first gunner - operating the main gun - 24 and the officer 27 years old.

The average NatSocialist tank crew was roughly 39 or so, with ages varying between 26 and 50 years and most of them having several times the experience of an entire Austrian crew.

Unfortunately, it had been impossible to gain control of any ships or airplanes, as both needed extensive facilities to keep working in large numbers, and thus the rebellion only had ground forces at their disposal, with the addition of some helicopter gunships, but those were easily shot down even by the tank-crew of a Leopard 3, which carried 3 low-ranged anti-air missiles with them, very much like the old 'Stingers'. The only difference was a higher speed and more firepower as well as added maneuverability in the missile, making these even more capable in taking down aerial targets. These missiles had been tested successfuly against Austria's own airplanes - in mock battles, obviously - and were so reliable, according to those who tested them, that shooting down lower-tech planes (or helicopters) would almost certainly be a cakewalk.

This didn't take in account that the anti-air network was set up so that no invader could use it against the builder. Forced entrance into one of the buildings simply shut the entire construction down after notifying other posts in the region, impossible to reset without the proper codes and keys.

These things, coupled with oh so many others made the situation look bleak, especially for those behind the rebellion. They had expected to be greeted as liberators from the monarchist regime, not as terrorists, murderers and traitors to the people.

One of these 'heads' replayed an announcement by the King, broadcast to the world a while after total lockdown of the country.

"People of Austria, people of the World,

Just like all of you, I am fond of the security and freedom of the Kingdom, but this freedom is threatened by a strong power. The rebels are not what they state they are, being far too organized to be that. No, they are, in fact, an invading force dedicated to bring down the freedom we achieved after the fall of Nordland.

I say to the enemies of the Kingdom: You will not succeed. The people of this great country support me, the Kingdom, but most importantly, the people support freedom, they always did. You may have a considerable arsenal, you may have more experience but we have something more important. We have an idea, and ideas are bulletproof. As we speak, our soldiers are fighting the threat. As we speak, our soldiers are destroying the illusion that is the ‘Golden Revolution’. People of Austria, stay united. We will not abandon you. We will protect you. No, we will prevail over this menace! Do you part and help your homeland defeat the enemy."

The man shut the television off and got up, grunting as his joints cracked. 'Getting way too old for this..'

Once having served under Mannelig and later in the German Reich, he had been out of service after he simply got too old to serve...That is, until that fateful day when some others had approached him, asking if he would like to see a true Germany rise again, clean of all cancer that had defiled it in the last years and under the sole rule of the Kaiser, Martens.

It took them a bit or arguing, of persuasion, but eventually he joined them - as the last of the 'Leaders', he later found out. He was needed to find the old depots which now supplied the Revolution not only with vehicles, but also with precious fuel, an all-too rare thing when you were planning to overthrow the order set by the old government.

He sighed and walked out of the room, into a hallway which would enable him to reach any part of the bunker he and the others were in. It was almost time for another meeting.

The morning had come, and Sasha and Simon were already peeking out of windows, watching the happenings outside.

"I...don't see anything. You?"

"Nothing. They seem to have left this part of the city behind them, but there's bound to be patrols or something like that."

"Probably...You think we could risk it?"

"Well...That one guy we KOed had a rifle that we can use, so in the worst case, we can now defend ourselves."

"We're lucky you noticed him opening the door of this flat."

"Yes, we are. Hitting him with a heavy pot wasn't a bad idea, either. Frying pans are just too light for that."

"My mother hit dad once with a frying pan. Only thing it did was getting him a wound from the hit, and he had to be brought to the hospital after. Otherwise, he only had a light headache, nothing else. He divorced after that though, any managed to leave her nothing but what was necessary to survive, not even us kids."

"Why'd she hit him?"

"She...Uhh...actually, I don't remember."

"Too bad...Anyways. What direction should we choose?"

"I'm not sure, but I'd guess there's fighting in the north. Maybe we can go south and then west or east to circumvent the fighting..?"

"Would be worth a try. We'll need to gather supplies, though."

"Yeah...I don't know what, unfortunately. I'm a journalist, not a survival nut."

"Dad always taught me about how important it is to know what to do in such situations: Gather whatever cans of food you can, a portable gas stove, gas and a few other things, such as tents. We'll basically only need camping equipment."

"And...where do we get that?"

"Why, the next camping store, of course. There's one right across the street."

"Do you really think we can just go and loot it.."

"Hey, this is an emergency. And I don't think anyone will mind, I haven't seen any non-nords for hours out there. The owner probably fled when the protests became serious."

"That's good, I guess."

"Let's wait a bit more to be certain there's no patrols and then raid it, okay?"

"'Kay. You tell me when we'll do it, Simon."

He merely nodded, then returned to watching the streets outside. They weren't that hungry, as the previous owner of this flat luckily had bought enough food to keep a family few for a good week or so. Unfortunately, this previous owner had been caught by the nords while being in the bathtub, and the appropriate room was impossible to use by now, thanks to hundreds of flies and a stench that could make a grown man throw up.

They had sealed the room with duct-tape after Simon was brave enough to go in for a second to open a window inside the bathroom. It didn't smell anymore.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

"I want the artillery in position by 1100. Any news from the birds?"

"None yet, Sir, but their commander said we'll get intel in a few minutes. The smoke's made it harder to do their job properly."

"I don't care about the smoke, I need that intel if I want to strike them rebels where it hurts. With a bit luck, we can cut their forces in Wolfsberg off the rest by striking St. Andra, and that's at least sixty tanks with support gone from their forces."

"Where did they get that many, anyways?"

"I have no goddamned idea about that, and I doubt anyone but them has any kind of idea. It's not important either, because they don't have infinite reserves. We do, because we can build tanks."

"How do we know they can't build tanks?"

"Maybe they can. But they have restricted resources. They're not the official government, and they're probably hated by everyone and their mother."

"I see...Thanks for explaining that to me, Sir."

"No problem. Now get to work, I want the big guns ready to fire ASAP."

"Yes, Sir!"

The young man turned around, leaving the major general alone in his tent, for the time being. He had 40,000 of Austria's finest, two hundred tanks and hundreds of support vehicles under his command, and by God, he'd use them well.

Roughly at the time when Sasha and Simon began raiding the camping store, 50 artillery guns would open fire on the NatSoc forces around Wolfsberg, beginning the first battle of a conflict that may last quite a while.

Fire and destruction rained upon the rebel divisions near the city.

Public Announcement: For the duration of this conflict, all Austrian visas for Varangian Citizens and vice versa will be revoked, sending citizens back to their homelands. We hope this conflict will be resolved soon.

In the glowing moonlight, Frederick Vænsynn sits in his office with his wife, Andrea, sitting on a nearby couch watching the news. Both of them were shocked at this news.

"These people think that they are honoring Oðin by protesting the Austrian government. They cause more separation within the Germanics than unification," Frederick said, shutting down his laptop and sitting on the couch. "Andrea, what do you think?"

"I think they just need to shut up. The Austrian government has done nothing to keep down the Nordlandic ideals."

"Well, they did ban Herr Martens' books."

"Then they can order them online. There's no reason for them to be protesting."

"Unless they want to see a reunited Nordland," Frederick lamented, taking a sip from a cup of tea.
