The "Conti" Problem

Elrich von Richt woke up earlier this morning to hear some rather disturbing, and annoying things. One thing however caught his eye, and ear. A rebel group known as the "Conti" had risen up in Chimairan Bretagne, and he found this rather annoying in particular. Stavros had fortified the border into Conti lightly to dispersuade the annoying rebels from daring to cross into Chimaira Proper. However, now the rebels had harmed Dutch tourists, Chimairan tourists, and had even harassed the Chimairan government. Nationalgardet troops helped fleeing Dutch and Chimairan tourists return across the border safely, and shot any rebels upon sight. Most news coming out of Bretagne was simple, and showed that the rebels didnt have a large amount of support. The "Conti" weren't popular among the Chimairan inhabitants, or the French. Both groups, of course being some of the larger ones in Chimaira. Elrich had finally had it with this, and had announced the most important delegation and show of force in Chimaira against rebel elements. The declaration was simple, the Conti rebels were to lay down their arms, and surrender their leadership to Chimairan Nationalgardet troops at the border, or they would be forced out of Bretagne. His response came a few hours later, and it was a simple one, the troops had refused to lay down their illegal weaponry, and their leaders continued to mock Chimaira. With that, Elrich ordered the 4. and 5. Nationalgardet, stationed on the "border" to liberate the region from these terrorists and rebels. All civilians were to not be harmed, all armed members of the Conti group were to be shot on sight, and no surrender was to be accepted. Any and all leaders of the rebellion, the supposed "Council of Ten" was to be tried by a miltary tribunal for treason, and if sentenced, executed by Firing Squad.

The troops of Chimaira cried, "Chimaira aller död! Europa aller död!" and then shouted one word in German and French afterwards, "Freiheit! Liberte!"

With the Chimairans now moving into the so-called "Conti", Yacranian troops had new orders. Instead of landing at their old destination, they were now to land directly on the Conti. The small transport convoy turned direction and headed for the Conti's beaches, fully expecting a rough battle.

The Emperor Issued this statement:

ANY Act of aggression by the Conti Military, Police, Armed Milita, or ANY official government division, on the nations of the Chimairan Republic, the United Netherlands, and we even dare to say, Euzkadi, will result in action taken by the Empire of Krieg. We accknowledge our exsistance as Peaceful but that DOES NOT MEAN we will sit by while our close friends are bullied by a possible attack.

We also have media footage of 3000 Krieg Imperial Guard being organized and rallied in preperation for defensive military operations in friendly nations.

The Emperor issued the following statement to the Troops:

"Sons and daughters of the Empire, I call upon you to rise in arms, yet again, still exhausted by our liberation of the French Anarchists and Rebels, we will NOT let our only close friends on this continent go on bullied by this nation. We must set an example that we refuse to let one nation comprimise the safety of many..."

The Netherlands will stay neutral in this conflict as we are obliged to do but reports are coming in that two battalions of the Infantry Regiment Johan Willem Friso (returning from the SFOR Peacekeeping Mission in Krieg's Empire) are taking up positions on the main road leading past Nantes. Standard ammunition seems to have been issued and soldiers have been given the task to open fire when attacked. The Department of Defense states that they are here to "prevent Dutch travelers that are returning home from being harassed by gangs in Brittany"

The alert for tonight has been described as "CODE ROOD" (taking up battle positions)

A Dutch patrol just accidentally crossed the border into Chimairan Brittany using an YP408 Armored Personnel Carrier. They reached the small village of Les Croix (close to Nantes) before they realized that they were no longer in Chimaira. The troops quickly drove east and are now withdrawn to the main road east of Nantes.

If other European nations turn a blind eye to your situation, you can throw some money to solve the issue.

As Nationalgardet troops go through "Conti", they've come upon a situation much like France. Lightly armed opponents, with little to real organization. Nationalgardet troops are advancing in stead, and have currently reached the historic pays of Sant-Brieg and Gwened, and are advancing upon the leadership of the Conti resistance. The goal, for any forces of Chimaira and potential peacekeeping forces such as those of the Wehrmacht von Yacrania, are to link up at the port city of Brest. Citizens have been seen cheering on Chimairan soldiers for restoring order to the shortly lawless region.

We have not invaded Conti. And it is no longer a sovereign nation. The maneuver was an accident and we have called the local major to apologize for this intrusion who fortunately knew nothing of the incident and was pretty angry to be called out of bed for "a bunch of soldiers driving the wrong way- we have it all the time with those bloody tourists" as was his remark and who can blame the good man.

The Dutch troops were protecting a road in Chimaira that travelers would use to drive home. They were expecting a lot of trouble and a group of soldiers accidentally took a wrong turn ending up in a small village. All this in the dead of night. Luckily no shots were fired and the only exchange was one over the phone with a pretty angry local mayor who got called out of bed (he never saw the actual incident and neither did any civilians). The Dutch Army was not used here for any imperialist maneuvers and will never be used as such.

But we understand your criticism and will take it to heart.

The Empire is not invading for no reason. We have said multiple times we will only attack if Conti responds to the Defensive troops stationed on the Dutch or Chimarian border.

Any attempts to steer our right to defend our allies and our selves will not succeed. If it means a war, so be it. We gave them ample opportunity and even a chance to keep their land, but no. They had to get greedy and demand the Islands off of Chimarians borders. So now, they will learn the hard way.

The Empire of Krieg has personally learned and was once in the same situation as Conti is now. We hope this pressure will give them a chance to step back and realize they were wrong, and will not engage in violence.

Officially the Wehrmacht has no Peace Korps, this is just a fifth of a regular division. But yes, they are the men we were sending to maintain order.

EDIT: Dutch troops have started a withdrawal towards Orleans and the Dutch government has asked whether the transport can take place over Chimaira's main roads. The battalions will be withdrawn to their home base at Zuidlaren, province of Drenthe (Republic of the United Netherlands). One of their officers has joked that the picture that was shot in Brittany tonight during that accidental intrusion will probably end up on the fireplace as their "spoil of war".

The Chimairan Republic officially apologizes for the current situation of affairs, and the "invasion" of Conti. Elrich von Richt has spoken with officials in the government personally, and is demanding a pullout of soldiers from Conti. The Presidenten also hopes Conti officials are willing to meet with Chimairan officials in Nyahemstad in order to discuss future relations, and fix the damage done by the Chimairan government to the Conti people, as well as reach agreements on matters at hand between the two nations. It seems Elrich read false papers, distributed by mid-ranking military officials in order to provoke aggression against the Conti state, and that some political officials have also been lying the Presidenten about the existence of a state in Bretagne. These officials are to be tried by national, and military tribunals and are to be sentenced.

Elrich von Richt advises military peaceekeepers of fellow nations to pull out.

OOC: I'm waiting for a GM decision on this, until then all military action is halted, and diplomacy between myself and Conti is absolutely advised. This can somewhat be considered a misunderstand and a stubborn move on my part.
