NADC Announcement

Recommended Posts

Hello, ladies and gents of Planet Bob!

It's been a while since we've spoken. Too long, really; I'm starting to feel like you don't love me. So we're going to have some fun. The North Atlantic Defense Coalition is removing the passwords on foreign embassies on our forums, effective 23 March 2009. This means that the embassies will be visible to anyone, with no private sections. If anyone happens to have something they don't want seen (I know we've confiscated a couple of magazines from a certain aqua alliance's embassy), they would be well advised to do so before next Monday. This way, all of you can come, have some fun, have a couple of drinks, and maybe play in our fabulous arcade and spam forums.

Thanks for your time!

Signed,

spaero2011

Press Secretary of the NADC

--- Post authorized by NADC Foreign Affairs ---

EDIT: To allay certain fears which have arisen, we will be setting up private conference rooms for those alliances who need them. The reason we're taking the passwords off is because, for the most part, alliances don't need the security, and it's much harder for our FA staff to check them consistently when the passwords are enabled.

But what's wrong with keeping secret stuff that was meant to be kept secret, secret?

It will be kept secret, no one will read it. I will be going through all embassies and creating rooms that private information is kept in. Any other standard information will be posted in the unlocked embassies. And when I say standard information, I mean updates that your alliance feels that we need to know.

If there is anything that you have an issue with (on-going projects), pm me and we will set you up with a private room.

No locked doors? :(

Please read above.

Seems risky, if something is overlooked or forgotten it could be bad. Better to archive the private threads and create new public embassies?

While it says Monday above, that is the date we will start. I will take my time while I go through the embassies. I promise nothing will be shown to the public that shouldn't. If there is any question, I will contact the involved alliance and discuss the matter with them.

This is a poor policy which needs to be remedied.

If I can see what you're talking about with, say, MK, and I don't like them, then wouldn't that have an effect on our relationship? If I wanted to ally with you, then it should only be us talking. I don't want others seeing what we're discussing.

So no masking system or password...yeeep, that'll end well.

And why did you confiscate our magazines?

As stated above, Rooms will be made available as needed. Once the need is done, the room will be emptied. Passwords will be given out to those involved in the discussion.

No, you wouldn't see anything. If say, MK, wants to discuss a something private with us, their ambassador requests a private room. We provide a password protected room for the duration of the issue at hand.

But why fix what wasn't broken?

I'm the one who will be creating new rooms for private use. While it will take some time now, in the end, it will make everything faster. I'm aiming to make my staff more efficient and save them time.

I've also noticed on several other forums that they have open embassies and private rooms. Anything that you don't mind being shown to the rest of the world will be posted in the open room. That will serve to expedite some matters.

Hi NADC. ;]

An office you say? And what colour do you want the walls to be? :}

I realize nobody likes having to mask people, but it really is the best method for handling embassies...

There will be masks, just no passwords for the public sections.

I can tell most of you are not happy with this change, but I think the changes will be liked once they are seen. Nobody is losing anything. Any questions you have, please pm me. I will answer your questions.

Before you start requesting stuff be moved, pm me. What I have planned will be explained in detail.

And I might point out that some of those who have posted in this thread have not used their embassies in a while. I'm not going to delete them as many do when they sit there unused.

Sounds like a laziness problem to me.

Have an admin sit down and go through all your foreign diplomats and create seperate permission masks for each alliance so that no one can see another alliance's embassy.

-OR-

Give those in your foreign affairs department exemption from having to type in embassy passwords.

I am a strong proponent against open embassies, and I feel I am not alone on this one.
