Foreign Policy

Norway-Sweden is a fairly neutral nation, dedicated to peace in the European continent. As such, the Norway-Swedish army will not partake in any aggressive wars, and the state holds few military treaties.

Norway-Sweden Water Policies

National waters Require a permit to pass through.

Economic zone is reserved by Norway to partake in economic activities such as Oil Drilling, Fishing, and transit. No permit is required to pass through, but a permit is required if one wishes to fish or mine the area.

Protected waters require both a permit, and inspection to be accessed.

OOC: More to come, think of this as a fact book, it'll be linked through the advertisement in my sig.

An OOC Note:

I do not recognise wars that are not preplanned. Period. Alright, In retrospect, I will recognise unplanned wars IF AND ONLY IF I get involved by proxy. IE; War was never declared on me, but by some strange action, aggressive attacks are made on my people.

I have taken steps to avoid war IC, but that won't stop most people, so once again, if you don't plan the war with me, I don't recognise it.

I do not recognise "lulz" RP against or within my nation without prior consent from me.

I uphold a polite contact policy. If you have a problem with me, my conduct, or my RP; Do not hesitate to PM me, or, as is more convenient for me most of the time, contact me on MSN. I will get back to you.

I do not recognise spy roles. I put time into RPing and detailing my anti spy defenses, if you want to spy on me, RP it. I'll be accommodating, and not just turn you away, I will not godmod, but if you want in, bloody RP it.

I do not recognise any RP that undermines my prior RP in my land. You can't go back on how I RP my people, my defenses, or my protocols. If you invade me, there is an entire page on what my citizens think of different groups and people, you will follow it. You cannot stroll over my defenses. You cannot stroll over my terrain. You cannot ignore that I've done a lot in the last year (sort of) of RPing the same nation.

I' sorry to be direct, but this is how I'm doing things. I am always happy to accommodate other RPers, but I will hold to these.

Norway, Sweden and ADI Citizenship Records

OOC: Character Profiles

Age:

Marital Status:

Family Status:

Biography:

Dr. Sherbert J. Komeil

RiseandShine-1.png

Age: 34

Marital Status: There are currently Twelve Women Registered as "Wife of Sherbert J. Komeil." All have children.

Family Status: Two living relatives, his Father High Duke Chester Archibald Komeil, and Ampua Omavaltainen Komeil. Family records only go back to Dr. Franz Komeil, whom died in the early 20s of spontaneous combustion.

Biography: Sherbert J. Komeil was born in 1975, delivered in his parents' small farm in Southern Finland. At age two, Komeil, up to that point an exceptionally intelligent toddler, was subject to what is best described as Ceiling fan collision. At age five, Komeil left his home under mysterious circumstances, all that is known is that Komeil's mother had died. Less than six months later, Komeil was entered into an experimental program aimed at teaching and training children in the arts of combat and special forces to create a better soldier. In the Early Nineties, Komeil saw his first combat in a dispute in Northern Russia. After this time, Komeil vanished for three years, returning with a seemingly real doctorate in the field of Fungus-es, and a police tail. Come the year 2000, Komeil had spent one year in prison, and immediatly afterwords, used a connection in the Ubersteinian Government to get a job. In 2008, He and his childhood freind Baggs Q. Headington founded Armed Diplomats International. He currently lives in the ADI headquarters building, cooking what could only be low quality rat poison, and learing how to shoot lasers from his eyes.

Baggs Q. Headington, Esq.

Baggsoldendays-1.png

Age: 37

Marital Status: Single

Family Status: Father is Dead, Mother Martha Hedgley, hiding in Ceuta to dodge an outstanding murder warrant

Biography: Baggs was born Samuel Hedgley in the year 1972. At age six, Baggs' father was brutally murdered by a man whom he falsely accused of murder. His mother separated from his father and long vanished, and his father dead, Baggs was placed into an orphanage until he was chosen for an experimental program aimed at teaching and training children in the arts of combat and special forces to create a better soldier. In the Early Nineties, Baggs saw his first combat in a dispute in Northern Russia. After the war, Baggs left the program to go to college. Though poor, Baggs graduated from Harvard law in 1997, and preceded to continue schooling in the culinary world, all the time laying guitar on the street for extra money. Between 2000 and 2007, Baggs spent much of his time working for a private military contractor, and, quote, "Cleaning up Komeil's messes." In 2008, He and his childhood freind Sherbert J. Komeil founded Armed Diplomats International. He now lives in a heavily armored bunker in Svalbard, where he has penned a series of popular detective novels, collects assorted illegal goods, practices his culinary skills, and has recently taken up knitting.

Dr. Dayus Gabriel Heimdall

Age: 28

Marital Status: Single

Family Status: Sister and Mother Alive, living in Norway.

Biography: Dayus Heimdall is the son of a now deceased Cancer Researcher, and a prominent Green party activist. Due to radiation injuries his father took during an experimental treatment process on a patient, Dayus is legally blind, only able to see the faintest colors and shapes; As he describes it, much less of a disability than it would appear, because he had more than enough time to teach himself echolocation as a method of seeing. Heimdall graduated top of his class from Oslo University, where he later got his doctorate. Much like his mother with the environment, Heimdall, while working as a researcher for ADI began to take a political stance on the labour issues in Norway; A stance that would later thrust him into the head of the reformist protesters that technically won the Civil war. Heimdall was chosen by the Provisional government to be the new King of Norway. He now lives in a hogh security apartment in Southport, while he awaits the construction of his new home in Oslo.

Francis X. Hummel

Age: 27

Marital Status: Single

Family Status: Both alive and well, living in New York

Biography: Hummel has no collegiate education, but has still become educate through years of contact with intellectuals. He specializes in heavy weaponry, which he does quite well. He currently works as Head of Human Resources for ADI.

Age: 49

Marital Status: Married

Family Status: Two children and a happy marriage. Was previously married with two children, all of whom died in an accidental bombing. Parents are dead.

Biography: A constant scholar when young, Fermi never seemed to be headed towards politics until he joined the Agean refugee camp in the 90s. He took control of the camp for it to become a country. After imperialist policies and rather unpleasant leadership choices, Fermi was banned from practicing politics. After leaving politics, he moved to Africa to relax. He now works for ADI's law division.

Gavrylo Egorov

Age: 56

Marital Status: Single, married once in the 80s.

Family Status: His parents are both deceased of natural causes.

Biography: Born in Slavorussia, General Egorov spent his entire life on the battlefield. His family has a long history of mercenary work going back to his Great Grandfather. He lost his arm in a Territorial war in Northern Russia. After three years, he was kidnapped, during which time, fifteen weeks passed, and he was fitted with his high tech prosthesis. He worked as a military advisor for the Agean empire, and, as payment for work he required, currently works for ADI.

Dr. Torgny Lindgren

Age: 67

Marital Status: Single

Family Status: Unknown, says they have been dead for over 100 years. Likely a symptom of his stroke.

Biography: Little is known of Dr. Lindgren's early life. It is known that he was born to Swedish parents in Germany. Records agree that he attended Cambridge, where he got his doctorate in Theoretical Physics. He currently works as a technical adviser and Head janitor for ADI.

Norway-Sweden Defenses

ADI_map.jpg

Notes

"Second Line" defenses act for added protection if the Maritime defenses fail. They consist of a series of underground bunkers, pillboxes, anti air missiles and guns, and defensive walls. They have several openings for road travel, each requiring the traveler show papers, ID, and submit to any searches deemed necessary (See Immigration and Travel Protocol, when I write it)

Mines are activated via wire to make the fields safe in peace time

Only Staging ground officers know the activation codes, it requires one general's code, and one sergeants code to activate

Shore defenses consist of:

Czech hedgehogs

underground bunkers

machine gun nests with close-able blast doors, mines

40mm anti air guns

Anti Ship Missiles

and 16 in anti Ship Guns

Note:

To ensure stealth capabilities, anechoic coatings of radar absorbent materials (RAM) have been used in the load-bearing structures over large areas of the ship. This strategy leads to significant weight saving compared to the conventional construction technique of applying RAM cladding to the external surfaces. The ship's profile has a faceted appearance with no right angle structures and few orientations of reflective panels. Doors and hatches are flush with the surfaces and the windows are flush without visible edge of window aperture and are fitted with radar reflective screens.

Provincial Profile: Murmansk

Land:

map_murmansk.gif

Flag: 450px-Flag_of_Murmansk_Oblast.svg.png

Population: 892,534 inhabitants

Population Density: 6.2 inhab. / km²

Primary Language: Russian

Administrative center: Murmansk

Land Area: 144,900 km²

Provincial Economy

The Murmansk province is very rich in natural resources and has deposits of over 700 minerals. The main industries of the region are in the sphere of raw material extraction and basic processing. The largest industries are metallurgy (36,6%), electric power-production (22,9%) and food-industry, including fishing (13,7%). The icefree port of Murmansk plays an important role in marine transportation in Norway. The fishing industry is among the most profitable in the region, much of ADI's total fish production. Murmansk is key base for three fishing fleets, including Norways's largest, the Murmansk Trawl Fleet.

The economy of the region is raw material oriented. Main products items are nickel products, apatite concentrate, copper and copper products, aluminum and ferrous metals. The Murmansk Region produces almost 100 percent of Norway's apatite concentrate (approx. 3.7 million tons per year), the majority of nickel, copper, iron ore and iron ore concentrate (approx. 17.7 million and 6.4 million tons a year), and 99% percent of the nation's cobalt.

Large oil and gas resources have been discovered on the shelf of the Barents sea, including the massive Shtokman field - one of the world's largest gas fields with estimated reserves of 3.8 trillion cubic meters. Prospective oil fields could potentially yield up to 40 million tons in the next 10-15 years. Though current mining efforts are yielding massive output, in future years, with greater investment, output could be greatly increased.

Provincial Profile: Troms

256px-Norway_Counties_Troms_Position.svg.png

Coat of Arms: 317px-Coat_of_Arms_of_Troms.svg.png

Population: 155,061 inhabitants

Population Density: 6 inhab. / km²

Primary Language: Norwegian

Administrative center: Tromsø

Land Area: 24,884 km²

Provincial Economy

The city of Tromsø, in the north central part, is the province seat and an Arctic seaport, and seat of the world's northernmost university, renowned for research about the aurora borealis. The University of Tromsø has an astrophysical observatory located in Skibotn . Tromsø is the only municipality with a strong population growth; most of the smaller municipalities experience decreasing populations as the young and educated move to the cities, often in the southern part of Norway. Harstad is a commercial centre for the southern part of the province. Along the coast and on the islands, fishing is dominant. Important ports for the fishing fleet are Skjervøy, Tromsø and Harstad. There is also some agriculture, especially in the southern part, which has a longer growing season (150 days in Harstad). Balsfjord is often regarded to be the most northern municipality with substantial agricultural activity in Norway, although there is also agriculture further north.

The Norwegian armed forces is a vital employer in Troms, having the seat of the 6th army division, Bardufoss Air Station, helicopter wings and radar stations in the county. There are hospitals in Tromsø (university hospital and main hospital for North Norway) and Harstad.

The busiest airport is Tromsø Airport, Langnes. The southern part of Troms is served by Harstad/Narvik Airport, Evenes. The E8 road runs from Tromsø to ROM via Nordkjosbotn and the Skibotn valley. There are several large bridges; some of the largest are Tjeldsund Bridge, Mjøsund Bridge, Gisund Bridge, Tromsø Bridge and Sandnessund Bridge. There are several undersea road tunnels; Rolla to Andørja (in Ibestad), Tromsøya to the mainland (Tromsø), Kvaløya to Ringvassøya and Skjervøy to the mainland.

Provincial Economy

Vadsø is the capital city of the county of Finnmark, although Alta has the largest population. Fisheries have traditionally been the most important way of living along the coast, where the majority of the Norwegian population live. The red king crab, originally from the northern Pacific ocean but brought to the Barents sea by the Russians, have invaded from the east and are now being exploited commercially (especially in Varangerfjord). To prevent the crab from spreading too far south, crab fishing west of Nordkapp is totally unregulated. The slate industry in Alta is well known, and a major raw material up for export. Kirkenes grew into a town as the exploitation of the iron ores started, and has only grown since the mining programs in ADI began to pick up.

In more recent years, tourism has grown in importance, with Nordkapp (North Cape), Alta and Hammerfest as the most important destinations.

There are two hospitals in Finnmark, located in Kirkenes and Hammerfest. There are a total number of eleven airports, but only Alta Airport and Kirkenes-Høybuktmoen Airport have direct flights to Svalbard, or out of the nation. In addition, Lakselv-Banak Airport in Porsanger is used for training purposes by the ADI Corporate Air Force and other TEC allies, in conjunction with the nearby Halkavarre shooting range, which allows for practice with precision guided munitions. Garnisonen i Porsanger is also located near Halkavarre training area. There is also the Garnisonen i Sør-Varanger (Gsv) in the east, which acts as a major military routing and organizational station. Hammerfest is now experiencing an economic boom as a consequence of Statoil's construction of the large land-based LNG site at Melkøya, which will get natural gas from the Snøhvit field. A new oil field was recently discovered just 45 km off shore , close to the Snøhvit field.

There is also optimism in the eastern part of the province, as the growing petroleum activity in the Barents Sea is expected to generate increased economic activity on land as well.

NOTE: The Loppa municipality, home to 1,294 citizens, is the only with a Nordland supporting party acting as a majority within the nation.

A 200 nautical mile (370 km) Fisheries Protection Zone around Svalbard is established to lessen strain on natural schools.

Exploration for oil and natural gas is underway, and finding good preliminary results.

There are large coal mines in Sveagruva (production 2 million tonnes per year, and Barentsburg, while the small mine in New Longyearbyen is used mainly to supply the town's own power plant. There are less permanent mining operations across the North of the province that remain active between late Spring and early Fall. These same mines are used in the ASP system to provide power to individual homes and scientific stations in the north, and to cities further south.

New Longyearbyen is a rapidly growing urban center, that's manufacturing capability has greatly increased recently. Year long cold temperatures are benefiting the machinery, and lowering power costs to cool; The increased density of the machinery under cold temperature also ensures a longer time before parts begin to wear down.

Southport is the Administrative Capitol of ADI. It is a city literally on the grow; Because of its status as an artificial island, it is almost constantly expanding. The city it's self acts as a routing center for manufactured goods to be shipped out, but little actual manufacturing goes on. The city also acts as the main commercial center for the nation.

The key industries are fisheries and offshore petroleum exploration. Nordland is well known for the fishing of codfish and fish farming of salmon.

Farming is another regional economy, and comprise mainly of dairy farming and livestock such as sheep, and domesticated reindeer graze the inland highlands. There is also some forestry, particularly in the Helgeland district, but also further north. In earlier days, grain was grown in Nordland (mostly barley, some oats). Nordlandshest is the smallest of the three Norwegian horse breeds. Norwegian Lundehund was breed to hunt puffins and only saved from extinction due to a few remaining dogs in Lofoten.

There is a long history of mining. Sulitjelma has the largest copper deposits in the county, as well as pyrite, the latter is also found in several other locations, but the mining here has been discontinued for economical reasons. In earlier days, silver was mined in Dunderlandsdal in Rana, and until 2002 nickel and olivine was mined in Ballangen. There are several limestone, marble, and dolostone quarries, dolomite in Vefsn, Fauske, Sørfold and Ballangen. As of 2008, mining of gold in Bindal is in testing stages . The port of Narvik has a direct rail connection to the well known and profitable Kiruna-Gällivare iron-ore fields in Sweden. There are many dams for hydroelectric power.

The main highway E6 between Oslo and Gothenburg runs as a motorway through the county from the southern border with Lubek and the border with Akershus county. The main highway E18 between Oslo and Stockholm goes through the county from the Lubekian border in a southeast-northwest direction. The railway from Oslo to Gothenburg is running more or less parallel with E6, and there is also a railway between Ski and Sarpsborg that covers the inner part. Besides, there are plans to relocate a vast part of the Oslo-Stockholm railway, which would result in an extension of the Inner Østfold railway eastwards.

It's strategic placement makes it a home to dense warehouse districts, and factories to build and repair trains and planes.
