In his office in the Executive Mansion, President Lyndon Baines Johnson was silent as he stared at the telegram on his hands. Yes, he was a Texan, and he wanted to go back to Texas, but to be honest, he was somewhat reluctant to go back to the place where President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated over a year ago.

An aide walked into the office, holding a tray carrying a cup of tea on it. "Would you like a tea, sir?" He inquired.

The President sighed deeply and nodded. "Yes, tea would be nice. Thank you." As the aide poured tea into a cup, Johnson composed a response to the President of the Commonwealth of Texas, Chris Nguyen.

Dear Mr. Nguyen,

I would be honored to visit the Commonwealth of Texas as to improve relations between our countries. But concerning the events that occurred over a year ago, I assure you that security measures will be taken this time. No open motorcades, then. Looking forward to meeting you.

With regards,
Lyndon Baines Johnson, President

With that, the President folded the message and placed it into an envelope. "You know where to send it." He said as he passed the envelope to the aide.

"Yes, sir." The aide said as he took the envelope, bowed, and left the room.

President Johnson sighed again as he put his chin on his hand.

OOC: I'm now stuck between a rock and hard place. :awesome:

Preparations at Austin-Bergstrom Airport were being made.

"What did I tell you? 100% protection from assassins! You really think this @#$%&* piece of styrofoam will protect the dude from a hand grenade?"

"General, this is the movie set for Transformers 3. President Johnson will be over there near the pretty blue plane with wheels that looks like a big Tylenol."

"Oh..."

Meanwhile, at the runway, President Nguyen waited patiently surrounded by officials and generals. It was just like a month before, except this time he was in a wheelchair. A man walked up to him and said, "Sir, that over there is the convertible that you and President Johnson will be travelling in. Now for the route. From here, the motorcade will drive through Lamar Plaza, which is where the famous Austin Textbook Depository is. The area is also known for having a very grassy knoll where children like to play. From there, you will drive on to downtown Dallas, where you will meet the famous UT Longhorns!"

The President fell out of his wheelchair, and the Chief of Staff shouted to the man, "NO OPEN LIMOS!!! How on earth did you get this job?" At that moment, visitors could see Air Force One landing on the runway.

Air Force One descended slowly and steadily upon Austin-Bergstrom Airport. Upon landing, it slowed to a steady halt. A door opened up, and out stepped a figure.

However, instead of President Kennedy, it was his successor, President Lyndon Baines Johnson. The President, looking a bit apprehensive, descended upon the stairway that was placed in front of the door. Upon reaching the ground, President Johnson smiled and waved in greeting to the visitors as he greeted Texan officials along the way. Upon seeing a figure in a wheelchair, surrounded by officials and generals, the President made his way over there.

Hello, sir. It is an honor to meet with you.” President Johnson stated, smiling.

One of the men spoke to Nguyen. "Sir, we have replaced your open limio with this SUV limo. It uses up alot of gas and pollutes the environment, but hey, at least the companies thrive!"

"Well, if that's the best, I guess we'll just have to go with it." The group marched over to the limo, where Nguyen, having a reputation of being courteous, sometimes too courteous, allowed Johnson in. Once the President was wheeled in, the doors were shut, and the motorcade made it's way to the Executive Residence, situated next to The University of Texas and only a ten minutes walk from the glorious, pink Texas Capitol.

President Johnson smiled as he got into the motorcade. He felt somewhat reassured by the fact that the motorcade was a closed one, as in having a top, instead of the open motorcade President Kennedy was riding in when he was....

"How are you doing, sir?" The President inquired as he turned to Nguyen.

President Nguyen smiled at President Johnson. "Sir?" He chuckled. "Well, I really appreciate your effort to show respect, but just call me Chris. You know, it's harder to strengthen relationships between two people and two countries if both try to act as formal as possible. It's harder to move along that way. But anyway, since you asked, I've actually been doing quite well. The doctors are gonna let me off this darned chair pretty soon, and we haven't had alot of violence fom the Reich lately. Did you enjoy your flight here?"

OOC: Hey, Johnson's in his 60s. Be glad he didnt call Nguyen 'son'. :awesome:

IC:

President Johnson smiled and nodded. "Very well, Chris." He said. "As for the flight, I enjoyed it. I'm glad to hear that things are calm in North America as of right now. I hope it lasts that way."

OOC: Haha. Good one :v:

IC: "Hopefully the Reich will soon realize that Texas is not worth the war they are waging." When the limo came up to the Capitol Building, a man came and opened a door. It was a nice and warm day in Austin that day. The hills were so green and the flowers began to blossom. But what would impress one most was the grand architecture of the Capitol. "After you," Nguyen said to Johnson.

President Johnson smiled as he stepped out through the door. Surveying the Capitol building, the President turned to Nguyen. "It is a beautiful building, that Capitol of yours." He said, impressed.

"It is indeed. But I must admit, it was based heavily off the Capitol in Washington. But enough chit-chat know, inside. Apre vous."

The two dignified men entered the building. It's interior was just as grand as it's exterior, and even though the President had been here for a while now, he still marvelled at every detail. Finally, they went into a room. The Texan President closed the door and said to his guest, "Now Lyndon, I know our countries have gotten along very well, and I was hoping to discuss that before we move on to the Kennedy assassination investigation. We were thinking of singing a treaty. This treaty."

Chris handed a draft of the Pact to Lyndon. It read:

The New England – Commonwealth of Texas Mutual Defense and Optional Aggression Pact

Austin, Texas – 22 May 2018

The Parties to this Treaty reaffirm their desire to live in peace with all peoples and all governments.

They are determined to safeguard the freedom, common heritage and civilisation of their peoples, founded on the principles of democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law. They seek to promote stability and well-being in the North American area.

They are resolved to unite their efforts for collective defence and for the preservation of peace and security. They therefore agree to this Mutual Defense and Optional Aggression Pact :

Article 1

The Parties undertake to settle any international dispute in which they may be involved by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace and security and justice are not endangered.

Article 2

The Parties will contribute toward the further development of peaceful and friendly international relations by strengthening their free institutions, by bringing about a better understanding of the principles upon which these institutions are founded, and by promoting conditions of stability and well-being. They will seek to eliminate conflict in their international economic policies and will encourage economic collaboration between any or all of them.

Article 3

In order more effectively to achieve the objectives of this Treaty, the Parties, separately and jointly, by means of continuous and effective self-help and mutual aid, will maintain and develop their individual and collective capacity to resist armed attack.

Article 4

The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of either of the Parties is threatened.

Article 5

The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in their territories shall be considered an attack against both of them, and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of their territories.

Article 6

For the purpose of Article 5, an armed attack on one Party is deemed to include an armed attack:

·on the territory of both Parties

·on the forces, vessels, or aircraft of both Parties.

Article 7

If either Party should wage an offensive war against another Party, the second Party is encouraged to support the first in its Aggression. However, this will not be required.

Article 8

Each Party declares that none of the international engagements now in force between it and any other of the Parties or any third State is in conflict with the provisions of this Treaty, and undertakes not to enter into any international engagement in conflict with this Treaty.

Article 9

If either Party wishes to nullify this treaty, it shall give the other a 72-hour notification of its intent.

President Johnson remained silent as he scanned over the treaty. Finally, he smiled and nodded. "This looks good. New England cannot truly be held responsible for war as much as it was defending its friend and ally, heh." Johnson joked as he got out his pen. He was, after all, fulfilling President Kennedy's agenda. Prior to his assassination, Kennedy had planned to sign a treaty with the Commonwealth of Texas and would've done exactly what Johnson was doing right now. The President scribbled his signature on the draft. It was done:

Signed for the Republic of New England,

Lyndon Baines Johnson, President

Signed for The Commonwealth of Texas,

President Chris Nguyen

The President was obviously pleased. "very good. Now about our deceased friend. We haven't gotten alot of information, but we think that Oswald wasn't alone in the conspiracy. We have reason to believe that Jack Ruby shot Oswald not for revenge, but to hide any information that Oswald might give.
