Merovingian Posted February 2, 2009 Report Share Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) A bit about me: I've played CN for over two years, during which time I was a member of Echelon, the Greenland Republic, Legio X, and the MCXA. I was also the founder of two failed micro alliances. I held a deputy interior or finance position in most cases. I'm one of those people that always likes to stay busy managing something. I'll happily take on a deputy job or any sort of role that will keep me occupied. My area of "expertise" is probably finance; my weakest area is foreign affairs. I'm a decent "idea man" and enjoy devising solutions and new alliance processes. In terms of gameplay convictions, I'm against any sort of punishment worse than 1-time ZI, forcing players out of leadership positions or their alliance, demanding reparations from alliances who honored treaties in a defensive capacity, demanding alliance disbandment as a term of surrender, and breaking military treaties during wartime. I'm a fan of uniqueness and adding something new and different to the CN community. I'm looking for an alliance that has some members with interests similar to mine. I'd like some people to chat with when I have down time. OOC, I'm interested in baseball, business administration, The Office and House (both TV series), and volleyball. Questions I need answered: Does your alliance have a theme of some sort? If you were asked to justify your alliance's existence on Planet Bob, how would you respond? Will I be allowed to remain on the blue sphere? (I have some very long-time trade circle partners, and I don't want to bail on them because they've been very good to me.) But, I would like to extend the offer to stay with Blackhorse, if you would wish. While we are small, we are in the process of finishing up some set up and could use another experienced hand, or two, to pool ideas and resources with. As you may, or may not, know. We are a military themed alliance with a military chain of command. Currently due to our current size there are quite a few things that have not yet been fully implemented while we get to know each other better and the like. In many ways we are somewhat laid back...which I do not see changing too much in the future since if things get rigid; things are no longer a whole heck of a lot of fun. So far several of us are connected to the military in some way, or another, but not all. And you'll find that there is a variety of interests running around within the alliance, already. As an alliance we are technically Multi-colored; though we do give preference to Black Sphere...we choose not to push it especially when folks have established circles and the like. Two of the questions you asked would be difficult to answer; the 'good' fit one somewhat so. It's obvious you have an interest in small alliances as you've started two of them; thus, in a way this would allow you to be a part without having to call all the shots yourself. And since we will need input along the trail of growth you'd find yourself becoming a bit busier as time goes on. And, at the moment, we do have a couple of positions available where you'd be put to good use As for justifying our existence...that is a bit problematic as I don't believe any alliance has to be truly justified. If you wish we can discuss that in IRC. I happen to agree; though I have seen a PZI justified fairly recently and chose to help enforce it. But, we can yak on that. As for bringing something new and different to the CN community? Due to our alliance acronym and such we kind of play on words with anything related to the MOON i.e. the banking program is called the orbitz program. Some of our forums have a medieval theme but really no one pays attention to that anywho. If you were asked to justify your alliance's existence on Planet Bob, how would you respond? Every group of gamers should have a chance to do their thing together on planet bob and have their shot at being the best. We are here to have fun first and foremost and I don't see anybody stopping us in the near future. Will I be allowed to remain on the blue sphere? Sure thing. We are an orange based alliance but we are very lax on the color issue and obvioulsy allow exemptions. What makes your alliance a good fit for me? You seem to be a person who needs to keep busy and that we can help you with. We are an alliance in my opionion with a decent amount of members but not enough of them ready for leadership. We love to have fun and can talk the whole night through sometimes and I really think you would enjoy the envioronment we bring to the table. Our reason for existence i will quote something from our charter: This alliance is founded to escape from the large alliances and to get back to the fundamentals of brotherhood, friends banding together. We are an alliance based on the principles of quality of members before quantity. With this we mean that we value the relations with every member and that we focus more on making our nations as strong as possible and our rulers as wise as possible instead of actively recruiting as many nations possible. We rather be an alliance with few members where everyone knows everyone then an alliance where many people don't know each other because of the large number of nations. This story seems a bit standard for most small alliances, but there are too many alliances who sign tons of treaties, therefore we didnt just want to join a small alliance but make a new one. We want to keep it in our own hand to make sure we will not sign much treaties and be able to follow our treaties without breaking the other half of them. We are a multi-colored alliance, so you can remain on the blue team. Why you should fit with us is because we are an alliance with an experienced leadership, our 3 main leaders all have over 2 years experience in this game and all have been government in multiple alliances. We are still building up to improve ourselves, today i posted a lot of charter improvements, so if you join in a few days you will still be able to give your opinion on them or add new ones. After the new charter we will have elections coming up, you can start as a deputy if preferred, but someone with your experience in this game could also apply for Consul of Finance with the elections. We have an active IRC base in the alliance, many of the current communications get done trough IRC. About our Alliance views: We will never sentence someone PERMA-ZI or anything, max is ZI. Currently we have one person on the ZI list as he is a nuclear rogue that nuked one of our members, but once he is ZI he is free again. We will not force people out of office, but when inactive a Consul might be temporary replaced until he becomes active again. We want to be a honourable alliance by not signing much treaties so we can follow them as good as possible, so we honour the alliances that fight with honour to defend their allies. Disbandment can never be a term of surrender for an alliance in a war, so that is also unacceptable. Personally i like House and the Office too, but in the Netherlands we are late with several seasons and i generally dont have too much time to really follow it. I dont know if the other watch it, i think i remember someone watching House though. We also have many sport fans in the alliance, myself im more fond of football (the European version, not the American), but i did play volleyball for half a year or so. Business administration is my kind of subject as im studying to be Accountant and i already work with an Accounting firm. You explained exactly what you want, and I feel R.O.C.K. might suit your needs pretty well and you would surely fit our needs very well. The area of finances have long been our weakest link, because our current finances caretaker is having a long period of absence due to real life finance business. Someone to fill in that spot would be a blessing. Experienced and active people are what we're always looking for. Your mindsets are exact copies of mine. Although I have to be honest that R.O.C.K. uses the permanent ZI sentence, which however isn't that permanent. Any cooperative nation will have no problems with a successful appeal. The rest of the issues you mentioned - you won't find even a single supporter from here. Now to answer your questions: Does your alliance have a theme of some sort? Well, no. Yes, our name is R.O.C.K. (Royal Order of Confederate Kingdoms), but we are not really rock-music oriented alliance (although we have couple of harcore metalheads within our ranks ). If you were asked to justify your alliance's existence on Planet Bob, how would you respond? We may be small, but we are old. R.O.C.K. was founded in August 2006, when the amount of alliances was marginal compared to today. Additionally, we have been in yellow sphere whole our existence, including our short merger period with GOLD in 2007. Yes, the sphere no one wants to inhabit these days. We do and I think that makes us unique enough. As I've always said: Yellow team - where only the strongest survive Will I be allowed to remain on the blue sphere? (Please forgive my rant about yellow above ) Yes, you are. While we are fiercely patriotic about yellow, we understand the meaning of trade circles. Loyal trade partners are to be respected (mainly because of our own experiences in yellow). Actually we won't even require nations over 2k NS to change their team color, but still 31/35 of our nations are yellow. And, no they are not all under 2k NS What makes your alliance a good fit for me? I can never know for sure, when someone asks me this. But like I said above, we could really need someone like you and would welcome you with open arms. It's up to you whether you fit in or not. Some of us have been working and hanging around together 2½ years now, but still no newcomer should have any problems to settle in. In general I could say that if you like new challenges, you'll love it here. You might have probably never heard about us before so you could start with a completely clean table. Neither party will have no prejudices about each other. We are old and stable and pretty strong for our size. We have all the basics in good condition, but there's still something we need to get the final lift. Someone with plenty of experience and fresh ideas. You perhaps? I know some eco guys in TFD would probably like to have a discussion with ya and see what you've really got. I like your views, and TFD actually shares many of your views, namely the ZI one and breaking treaties during war one. TFD is nothing incredibly special. We're a traditional, classic alliance that holds Democracy and Government Transparency close and dear. We do our best to present ourselves well (keepin' it classy ) in Planet Bob, and we have strong ties to some epic win alliances (some of them are even powerful - MCXA being the strongest). TFD has a great close-knit community. That's something that we really keep as our pride and joy. We all have that inseparable wub (seems like every time somebody leaves to explore the rest of Bob, they're back before you know it) that keeps our community strong and willing to sacrifice for one another. As far as OOC: I know there are a few TFD ppl who are interested in business administration stuffz, and probably some fans of your fave TV shows too. I don't know about the baseball part, but I personally enjoy to play volleyball, and other sports. Questions answered: Does your alliance have a theme of some sort? Not really. Like I said, we are a classic alliance that maintains a good Democracy and works to achieve a compromise in Government Transparency that is both safe for TFD and informative for our members (we've actually done very well, if you ask me). We do have beliefs pertaining to neutrality, but because of our treaties we are classified as a "semi-neutral" alliance. We do not allow tech raiding. If you were asked to justify your alliance's existence on Planet Bob, how would you respond? The Foreign Division is an honest alliance. We've existed peacefully for nearly two years (the anniversary is coming VERY soon), and I personally feel that there is not one alliance out there that feels ill will towards TFD. We have quite an experienced leadership all around, but we are always open to ushering in fresh blood to bring in new ideas for the alliance. As far as value in the game, we are quite economically geared. We strive to achieve economical prosperity for all of our nations, thus we create trade guilds inside and outside of TFD, offer special TFD tech deals to TFD nations and standard tech deals to foreign nations, and we are a signatory of the economic Agora Bloc. We are also very interested in achieving Blue Unity, which has been an issue for some time now. Will I be allowed to remain on the blue sphere? (I have some very long-time trade circle partners, and I don't want to bail on them because they've been very good to me.) Yup! TFD is a Blue alliance (not required, but a vast majority of TFD'ers are Blue, and we're "officially" Blue). Also, we'll take responsibility of your trade circle should it need repair in the future. As I noticed you said before, you are an "idea man," and this is embraced in The Foreign Division, which goes hand-in-hand with our Government Transparency. So what are you waiting for? When NEO was ruined by the Prime Minister and Minister of Military, then many of the members [including myself] went to SOLID, where we thought we would find a new home. All was well for a little while, but when the whole NPO-NpO fiasco occured, confusion was rampant. A couple of members felt that it would be best to start our own alliance, just so we didn't get screwed over again, so we formed FnKa. Will I be allowed to remain on the blue sphere? Although we are a white team alliance, and would prefer that you would switch to white, there would be no problem if you stayed on blue. What makes your alliance a good fit for me? We're a middle of the road alliance. We're not a "srs bzns" alliance, but we do care out about our nations. We're not a "for the lulz" alliance, but we try as hard as we can to make the game fun, and meet some cool people while we're out it. When we fired up the NAC the first alliance/person to give us any advice or help was you. I remember that and I respect what you stand for, I have recruited you before and I will stand behind what I said then. The NAC would only get beter with your help. Our constitution is against EZI. The community is quite active and diverse, and I am sure you will find many with your interests. Question I: Does your alliance have a theme of some sort? Yes, it is based off Imperial Germany, 1871-1918, however we enjoy anyone who has interest in the general era or just simply history. We are the only German alliance to actually thrive without falling to victim of the Nazi plaque. Question II: If you were asked to justify your alliance's existence on Planet Bob, how would you respond? We are a sovereign alliance, we have the right to do what we wish. And if someone wished to test that, they will be greet them with weapons 1914 style. Seriously though, pretty much above, but most of our community cares little of CN in general, just the community of the German Empire. Question III: Will I be allowed to remain on the blue sphere? What makes your alliance a good fit for me? We offer lots of chances for new members to contribute. Our economics department especially would welcome you, we're a little understaffed in there. In general, our members have very similar values to yours. Our IRC is normally quite active in the evenings, so you'll be able to chat to people daily.
