History

The history of Dragonisia is one of Struggle. It first started as an outpost of Pirates in Antartica that got themselves a bit more organized and civilized. After making friends with the nation of Promised Land, they were given the land of Tasmania to get them off the ice. Natives of Tasmania integrated smoothly into the society since their histories were of similar culture and origin. The country has been growing extremely rapidly ever since, under the selected leadership of Maelstrom Vortex a benevolent theocrat who helped in the reformation of his country. A converted Christian, he has led his people away from their formerly criminal past and to becoming a very rapidly rising power that specializes in the export of cheaply developed and useful technology and tools.

Dragonisia has participated in 2 wars. The first occurred many years ago and was fought against the aggression of Kaiser Martens in Europe. Unfortunately, the distance proved to great to merit a successful attack. During the war, a Rogue Nuclear power in its descent from the peak of its strength released a nuclear device on Dragonisia. The people were scared. Inspired by Baron Von Uberstein's development of that country into an under-ground power; Maelstrom proposed the entire nation begin digging.. and the conversion of all tanks into diggers.. and the result was that out of the fear of further nuclear atrocities.. the bulk of the Dragonisian Population moved underground. In the process, innumerable mineral resources were extracted and sold or converted for use in the development of the nation's many coming wonders.

Currently, Dragonisia is thriving.. it just finished conducting its first successful invasion in the war against the African Panzer Korps Republic which resulted in the addition of 4 new territorial islands from the Isles of Vanuatu in the Pacific Ocean. Dragonisia is now pressing to have much of Vanuatu's populace moved beneath the surface also as in Tasmania, but it's slow going in the Volcanic rock. For more information on Dragonisia's current territorial holdings.. please see the Geography section of this guide.

Politically, the country is strongly Francoist and rapidly drifting towards consolidating its diplomatic ties with nations sharing its point of view.

In a recent move to increase its Geopolitical strength and influence, Dragonisia has opened itself up to allowing nations to sign on as member states of the "Dragon Empire", it's central government. It now waits to see if the world responds.

12/28/08: The Dragon Empire has started forming with the Cholan Empire pledging itself as a state to the cause of the Empire. Later the Bass Strait islands broke away from New Cymru also in order to join the Empire.

01/03/09: Recently, the State of Indochina joined the Empire out of fear of action against them by various states around the world. Their people, seeking protection, turned to the Empire which embraced them in a very dark hour.

01/04/09: After being a long time friend of the Dragon Empire. Neo Olympia joined the banner of the Pacifican cause under the Dragon Empire. Shortly after, the Neo Taiwanese Empire also joined us. Following the lead of her Pacific peers, Empress Gaga of Othello also had her nation join the Empire this same day.

02/10/09: The Empire, having served its purpose, disbands as global empires fall into disarray. Dragonisia regains National Sovereignty and regains its own governance.

The Government of Dragonisia believes strongly in free market principles, but will also act to intervene where it feels the individual cannot possibly hope to achieve great progress.. such as in the creation of public works, providing basic necessities on an individual level when in the state of personal crisis, re-education when short of personal finances, public education, health care, and research.

It tends to target the sources of the problems rather than try to patch the problems themselves. If health care if proving burdensome, for example, it often chooses to improve access to medical education so as to produce more doctors and create more competition rather than attempting to subsidize health-care which merely excites an already over-strained system.

The combined belief in free-market fundamentals with selective subsidization and encouragement has kept its economy robust while preventing excessive spending. Taxes do tend to be slightly higher than elsewhere in the globe, but the people know they can rely on their government in their darkest days. Government surpluses do not sit idle.. they are either utilized for new projects or immediately invested into the national "Sovereign Wealth Fund" which invests in international bonds, select corporations, and international currencies. The result is that taxes are expected to fall over-time as services are funded by foreign financial instruments and currency strengths are expected to rise as assets in the treasury rise.

Monetary Policy is favoring as strong as possible a Talon as can be managed.. as there is no debt to devalue with inflation.. and inflation destroys savings. Inflation is a trend in Dragonisia currently as its economy strengthens. However, monetary policies are keeping that reasonably within restraint.

The Technologies on this page are currently only in the possession of the Dragonisian Government and few know they actually have these. They have.. at most.. been visibly seen in action by observers who survived.. once each. The exception to this is the Submarine Merchant Fleet.. which goes everywhere.

Fafnir ICBM Technology

The Fafnir is a variation of the Tiamat Missile Technology listed below. It is 50 stories tall from vents to point. The bays carry many different configuration with up to 50 medium sized payloads and 10 large payloads. Its range is global, able to hit anywhere in the world within 30 minutes of launch. This missile is an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. In orbit or re-entry it deploys its payloads based upon where its on-board computer anticipates it wishes the payloads demand.. due to the importance of range and the massive deviation that a slight change in angle makes over it from an initial start vertex; this missile can hit up to 50 different targets in a country even separated by up to 1000 miles. The 10 payload package is configured to carry 2000 LB Termobaric guided bomb delivery systems. It uses the same technology as the Tiamat for payload deployment. Their launch centers are at undisclosed missile silos throughout the Empire; predominantly in Tasmania.

The Dragon Empire initially sustained a 5/day production rate on this variety of weapon and did so until global threat levels rose after a nuclear holocaust. Intending not to be caught off guard, they escalated their production, tapping their Sovereign Wealth Fund, which was valued at 23 trillion, for the equivalent of 1 Trillion Talons.

Tiamat Missile Technology

Tiamat warheads are based on real technology which uses electricity to detonate powder charges in bullets to fire them. In Metalstorm weapon, several projectiles are stacked end to end in a barrel and the pulses fire off the projectile one at a time. For more information I believe their webpage is http://www.Metalstorm.com. In CNRP, my Metalstorm warheads use the same technology. The entire missile shaft, save for the engine, is a honeycomb of metal storm barrels pointing out from the center. Each barrel contains a package of powder-deployed warheads. There are several types of warheads the missile can use. In this case, the one being used is a combination of:

1. High Explosive rounds.. each one the equivalent to its weight in C4 (whatever a half foot cube of C4 would be worth) a smoke warhead.

2. Highly corrosive liquid acids warheads designed to stall armor in its tracks.

3. A liquid nitrogen warhead, designed to freeze whatever may be under the cloud as it explodes

4. A very large and insulated magnet also cored in explosives.. which explodes once 10 feet above the ground intended to disable some electronics, jam unshielded electronics and attach to gun-barrels to really annoy troops

5. A cluster AP munitions packet.

6. A spread of land mines, typically stacked in 3 per slot.

7. A small heavy duty MP3 player that plays a constant, ear piercing screech at 150 decibels, which issued a large cloud of itching powder, and flashed a flash-bang equivalent pulser as well as emitting flares

8. Finally a tazer-net of ultra-fine wire. The tazer net and the player were designed to last an hour.

The missile has 9 facings (one every 40 degrees), 8 barrels per facing, and 6 packets per barrel... or 472 mini-warheads approximately 6" x 6" x 6". The TLAM is considered a less complicated version in this family of cruise missiles except it does not use the Metal Storm W Rotational Timed Warhead Distribution technology.

The package was sequenced so as not to inadvertently destroy the last payload deployed. This sometimes required the same area to be covered twice in the pattern. The player was a sensory jammer intended to blind night-vision users, IR users, and to defean anyone not wearing specialized earplugs..

Each facing of the missile has about 8 barrels, each barrel in a row contained one of the above types of warheads. The barrels would fire on subsequent rotations after the first row of warheads had launched every few seconds as the barrels aligned with the ground and targeting. This allowed the missile to be over different targets in an area and still be carrying a payload. Each missile was designed to effectively distribute the affects of the warhead package in a 1 mile^2 square. Each missile also used random patterning to avoid AA and pop-up maneuvers over each warhead drop zone. The missile ran its entire 1 mile^2 pattern in a little less than a minute. At the end of its run... it moves to ideal distribution hight above the 1 mile zone and jettisoned the remainder of its fuel into the air as it rose(while mixing it with 02 from secondary tanks). Then its cone and shaft detonate.. sending a shrapnel of ball bearings style munitions flying everywhere and igniting the fuel now proliferate in the air. The fuel detonated at altitudes above the ground with the force of a Fuel Air Explosive or about 20 tons of TNT. Additionally, the former barrels that were utilized to dispense the payload would now become shrapnel, issued from the center of the explosion like steel spears. This acts as an area-clearing utility capable of injuring any unarmored human out to 1.5 miles and aircraft up to a half a mile in altitude. Significant damage could be done to even armed troops within the 1x1x.5 mile square. The freeze effect of the liquid nitrogen followed by the intense heat of the fireball will shatter metal equipment frequently and do intense damage to electronics. It sustains only a sufficient altitude in its drop run as to clear terrain, makes avoidance maneuvers frequently, and pops up during payload release to avoid package related damage and to optimize payload distribution. The optimal payload height is determined by pre-programmed settings in every missile, meaning that any payload may be swapped out very quickly and the missile automatically knows the parameters by which it must operate.

This missile is aimed .90 mile from the vanguard of the approaching forces so as to optimize their coverage on approach. It will also effectively shred the forest area, making it difficult for all armor to traverse. Each missile is expensive to produce and takes a 3 days to manufacture on combined human and automated assembly. This missile is a Non-WMD variant, but the missile can also carry chemical, biochemical, and eventually nuclear warheads. It is likely one of the most deadly multi-use conventional payloads in history, but is not released all at once.. but more like a tomhawk deploys its multi-use cluster packets.

This family of missiles varies in length based on the number of payload "sockets" per "facing". This one is one of the largest, at 20 feet in length and was carried by an equally huge bomber. It is designated the MS-20 by the Dragonisian military.

The secret of the Dragonisian military is out and now known by at least Deutschland and SoL. If shot, the entire missile goes off as the core explodes and the contents of all the warheads self-detonate on a timer after losing connection with the hosting missile body, allowing for significant dispersion of content even if the missile is effectively intercepted.

Sea Crawlers (Invalid for CNRP-R canon)

The Torpedo/Missile platforms are each assigned a payload effective for its assigned duty and targets. The platforms which are torpedoes with MS-20 "Tiamat" nose attachments are deployed into the ocean from horizontal coast-line launch tubes and will sit idle at their assigned locations at max launch range from the target. We want to inform the world that this is not something that should be feared. The weapons are meant for our defense in times of war and only will be used when we feel threatened. The weapons are environmentally sensitive. If the weapon malfunctions, it is designed to send its missile into the stratosphere and self-destroy. All the weapons are conventional.. harboring no chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons.. although some are incendiaries. The torpedo section of the weapons are self-powered with a system we will not specify other than stating it relates to the sun. They receive instructions on a frequency and communications type we will not specify. We also will not give the details of their exact location. They will travel at speeds that are most likely not going to be detectable on sonar. If they are detected they'll look like little more than sea debris near the ocean floor. Their full deployment could take days.. weeks.. or months.. again.. we will not specify. They are designed to evade all ships they may encounter so as not to cause a fuss and to remain a weapon of passive intent. Before anyone protests.. we reserve the right to defend ourselves. This is our chosen method since we are not yet substantial enough to afford a large navy. These missiles are inexpensive on manpower and maintenance.. perfect for our intent. The Sea Crawlers can magnetically attatch to a hull for towing. Some of these sea-crawlers also act as sensory platforms, carrying basic radar and sonar packages. The net result is the extent of the sea-crawler web is also the maximum radar and sonar range of the Dragon Empire.

Sea crawlers recognize programmed international boundaries that are updated with routine software upgrades. They avoid shallow waters to avoid beaching, the sensor package crawler, which is usually part of a pack of 4 crawlers, provides information to it's 3 "assignments". Like an oceanic AWACS.. facilitating targeting and navigation. They also avoid excessively cold water so they will not freeze, staying in temperatures of 32% Fahrenheit and above. All Sea Crawlers are piloted remotely by a division of Dragonisian Armed forces dedicated to the task.. secretly dubbed the "Dragon Empire oceanic Arms Division." or.. DEAD for short. They also have on-board navigation software and can auto-pilot in non-obstructive terrain. They can travel up any river or canal that is greater than 20 feet deep.

Sea Tyrants

Now updated to 2009 technology in the format of the Sea-Tyrant Mk 2. Image below.

These are M1 equivalent tanks which are water tight with hybrid power sources. It uses both an electrical engine and a jet turbine. Under water, it can operate 4 hours at full activity without oxygen or snorkeling. The tanks are made to be deployed from Submarines Transports. They have optional propeller systems that may be added for an under-water mission for extra propulsion although they are not notably buoyant. They are only capable of being deployed in 100 feet or less of water and must be deployed on relatively flat terrains. Their treads have optional fins which may be added to increase propulsion and grip in sandy environments.

Submarine Merchant Fleet

The Dragonisian trade fleet is mostly sub-marine. This is because they opted to go underground during the great war. The easiest access they have to the Pacific is through underwater-ports. This said, every Super Tanker or Cargo Transport created since has been designed as a sub. The fleet is about 75% submersible and 25% surface in nature. These are not combat vessels, they are purely for trade and very rarely converted for military transport and logistics purposes.

On board each of the tanker sized submarines can carry about 1/4 of a division of men, amphibious tanks and armor, and supplies.

Submarines by size:

The Transport subs vary in size from 10,000 DWT (Dead Weight Tonnage in metric tonnes) to 440,000 DWT. There are only two 550,000 DWT class submarines in service. They are typically used in the transportation of oil but in times of war can be drained, cleaned, and used to transport entire armies. This is an extremely rare occurrence, typically when transporting divisions a submarine is used which is custom fitted to the DWT of the formation as part of military planning.

Underground Environment Simulation Tools

The adaption of old technology to new purposes. The underground of Dragonisia is made to mimic the surface weather using an array of tools from sprinklers to wind and fog machines as well as a large lantern system for the sun and moon.

State of the art EMP proofed electronics provided by the UFE tech trade agreement.

80% of all mobile weapons systems and 100% of all stationary weapons and observation systems have been EMP proofed. Unfortunately, it is impossible to EMP proof some systems, and those are obviously not EMP proofed, such as radars. However, all underground structures in Tasmania are relatively immune to EMP pulse purely due to their location many stories below ground. The surface of Tasmania, being mostly military installations, are more prone, but also given much more attention to this implementation. This is EMP proofing is a residual program dating back from the days of the old empire. Above and below ground sections of the power grid are not directly connected. If one goes out it will not overload the other.

All tanks and drivable vehicles which rely on automated systems also have backup mechanical systems which the automated electrical systems typically drive. Drivers and pilots receive training in these manual systems.

Notes:

All ANBU members are experts in martial arts, survival, tracking, stealth, assassination techniques, acting & world cultures, individual agents are also selected from a wide variety of cultures to enable them to seamlessly blend in to ethnic communities flawlessly. Only the best of the army become rangers and only the best rangers are approached to become ANBU operatives and even then they are not told what the mission is before they accept other than it is a suicide mission. The ANBU training regime is brutal and only 50% of candidates survive to become ANBU operatives.

All official records of ANBU members are erased upon joining and they renounce all family ties and friendships, in short they fall off the face of the earth, No search of any database will reveal any information about their past and only the highest levels of the military are even aware of their existence. They are commonly used to observe troublemakers and discreetly eliminate them if need be. ANBU operatives are sometimes sent into risky situations as diplomats using a cover identity provided by the state if a meeting is judged to be potentially hostile and it would be too risky to send normal diplomats, the identities they use will pass any official check and are thorough enough to include even such trivial details such as fake personal email accounts, letters from fictional family members, bank accounts and bills from utility companies as well as the usual details a person performing an identity check would expect. ANBU operatives have access to the best of the equipment that the nation can provide to carry out their mission.

Historic Dragon Empire Military

An important note on the Imperial Military. The forces of the Empire are entirely integrated and the Chief of Council and the Milcom Minister have full authority to act with the force of all available military units. Likewise, the governors of each state are permitted to command their units individually in times of war if they so choose to do so.
