Time passes, and technology advances, changes. This was also the case with tank guns.

The SkyCity research centre, working independently of the Canadian research centres, such as Black Mesa, had, according to reports, almost finished the ETC gun designs. (OOC: See here. /OOC)

Thus the Chairman decided to have the current Leopard 3A2 tanks replaced, with the 3A3, which would, additionally to minor improvements in sensory, EMP-defenses, armor and other such things, be equipped with an ETC gun. The tanks would, however, keep the general look. A low profile, heavier than other MBTs and with a total of four tracks.

Similarly, the Mammoth Mk.I would be upgraded from its current guns to the ETC weaponry. As with the Leopard, there would be minor improvements, the major ones being the new guns and a higher speed, as there was no longer a need to supply the gun with that much juice. It, too, would thus retain the current design of being relatively low in profile, though it was more than four times as big as the Leopard. The new designation would be Mammoth Mk.II.

Because of the war in Europe, all forces are elevated to DEFCON 3. The forces on the Canary Islands are put to DEFCON 2.

Mobilization occurs, with Canadian forces preparing transports in the Hudson Bay.

OOC: Edit: Could a mod, if he reads this, rename this thread to "General Canadian actions"? That would be nice.

A number of forces was being sent to the Canary Islands - since the beginning of the hostilities, almost 250,000 men were added to the 80,000 already stationed there, and more forces would come. Luckily, the Europeans would likely concentrate their sight onto RUSSIAN.

100,000 soldiers were expected to stay at home, securing the ragged coasts, which alone would make it incredibly hard for an invader to land. But now, during the preparations for what was inevitable, defenses were added. Minefields on the beaches, dragon's teeth, czech hedgehogs, thermite mines and so much more. The coastal defenses were being activated, consisting of anti-ship missiles and heavy railgun emplacements as well as numerous AA emplacements and mobile AA vehicles - all equipped with the best of the best in missile technology, of course. Anyone landing on these beaches would meet his own, personal hell, and this didn't count the numerous trenches and further defensive measures that could be put in place within a few day's notice further inland.

The CBF Pacific was recalled home, while four CBFs would be sent to the Canaries, as escorts for the transports. A total of five CBFs were stationed there now, waiting for more and more forces and supplies to arrive, hourly.

100,000 soldiers were at home, in Canada.

50,000 on the pacific islands.

10,000 in Greenland, as garrison.

800,000 men were stationed on the Canary Islands, An immense, but for the Canadian industry doable logistic effort. Five of the seven Carrier Battlegroups were stationed there, as well, additionally to 90% of the Canadian airforce and 9,000 tanks, not to mention supporting artillery, AA, etc.

Meanwhile, in the homeland, new tanks, airplanes and guns were being produced, though they would not yet enter service.

The Army was just waiting for the official announcement.

With the war basically over, the Canadian forces were shipped back home.

The Canary islands would resume to have the normal garrison of 80,000 men, while the rest of the soldiers would go home again. One CBG would stay, the others would return back into the Hudson Bay.

DEFCON 5 was issued, and the state concentrated on other things.

Once again, war may break out. Thus, another carrier battlegroup is stationed at the Canary Islands, while the rest of the army is being readied.

Transports are prepared to send forces elsewhere, while the armed forces go on Defcon 3.

If at all possible, may we use the Canary Islands to stage our troops as well? If you wish we can provide the exact numbers that will be transferred.

*Classified Response*

Not a problem, though we may not go through the mediterranean this time.

With your permission, we would like to deploy three divisions, about 20,000 each, to the Canary Islands. That, and a carrier battlegroup will be sent there, too.

*Classified response*

Acknowledged. Send them, our men will wait for them.

Three divisions of the New England Army (NEA) were duly mobilized for service and deployed to the Canary Islands. Troops of the Second Division, Third Division, and the Fourth Division (about 60,000 troops total) boarded landing ships in several ports in New England. Soon, the ships sailed out of Boston, Providence, and New York City onto the Atlantic Ocean, where they would be escorted by the aircraft carrier, the Providence, along with several destroyers, cruisers, and three submarines. They were on their way to the Canary Islands.

After arriving, the divisions would get quarters like any Canadian division, while the battlegroup would receive docks on the southern side of one of the islands, in an artificial harbor deep enough for carriers.

There, they would wait for further orders.

While the Canary islands were, for the time being, as ready as could be, the Canadian forces in Greenland and on the mainland got into Defcon 2, a status which was given to the Canary forces days ago.

After Artemis had disbanded and ceded its territory in Greenland to Canada - most of the world's biggest island now belonging to them, the rest to a nordic country - forces began moving towards the icy borders, equipped with heavy wintergear so they could traverse more easily over the kilometer-thick glaciers of Greenland. Roughly 150,000 soldiers and 1,500 tanks were moving, with another 100,000 men in reserve.

They were wearing white, the tanks were painted white - all in all, the army would hardly be seen from space, due to the camouflage that was being used.

Defcon 1 is initiated.

The Canadian fleets in Hudson Bay begin moving.

The Forces in Greenland are, in the greatest possible secrecy, withdrawn, slowly, so that the enemy will not notice easily. 50,000 men and 300 tanks will remain.

In the Canaries, 150,000 Canadian soldiers, 60,000 from New England and a number of carrier-fleets were stationed, ready to strike whenever and whereever. These fleets were from Canada, New England and, interestingly, Astrakhan, as they had no direct connection to water, but still a fleet.

Currently, 2 CBGs escort roughly 100,000 soldiers in transports. They stay within the Canadian SOSUS, moving southeast towards the Azores, for now. The orders to move into another direction once the Azores had been passed were already given, so that the NC could not know for sure where the fleet was going until it actually changed course. There were currently three possible destinations for the Canadians, but even their allies were, for the time being, kept uninformed.

Note: This is OKd by LVN and Vince. Subtle didn't answer yet, but NASA plans to have a moonbase by 2024. Which is my techyear.

If you have complaints, take it to the GMs, kthxbai.

*Classified*

Back when this older base had just been discovered, plans were made to restore it, using expensive rockets capable of bringing 40, 50 tons of material per rocket into space. However, only seven such rockets had been finished, the rest never completed because of various reasons.

But recently, the Chairman's interest in a permanent base on the moon - preferrably one of the poles, where there was water-ice - had been reawakened with the construction of the first Hyperion Mk.I M (Mini) Nuclear Reactor, which would weight less than 25 metric tons, while producing up to 30 MWe. It was small enough to even be put on a modern tank without making the vehicle superheavy - an entirely new generation of armored vehicles could also come from this, using coil- or railguns efficiently! Of course, using a nuclear reactor on a tank would eventually result in the fuel of the reactor being spilled, which wasn't too great for either side, so these tanks would mostly stay theoretical for the time being.

Still, the Hyperion Mk.I M could easily be used to power a base on another planet or planetary body, in theory making actual colonisation - and eventually, exploitation - of space feasible!

Leclerc was a man of the future, and this project...In his words, "Gentlemen...This is the future!"

The new plans were to build bases - indeed, several, not a single one - over the course of the next decades, using material from this old, abandoned base and from earth. These bases were to be powered by the Hyperion Mk.I M - or newer models, one of which was already in research, named the Hyperion Mk.II M - and the would be equipped not only to do scientific experiments. They would also be capable of several other things, such as harbouring government officials and extracting resources from the moon, though in the first years only in relatively small amounts.

The entire project would take years, but it would be - after the space elevator - the greatest thing ever attempted by mankind. It would open the future.

And that is why over the entire course of the project, almost a trillion Canadian Dollars were planned to be spent, to pay for it.

OOC: Oh my....I approve this. =3

Seeing that my Tech level is 2019, I'm not too far off. :P

OOC: Mwehehehe. You need only 1600 more tech. =3

The small Hyperion reactors were easily and quickly built, thanks to their overall small size.

But so many more things would need to be done.

One thing the world would notice was an increased influx of various resources into Canada, to the point of some of them rising in price due to their worldwide rarity. Additionally, more astronauts were being recruited and trained, while at the Space Elevator's base - the province Estuaire, now Canadian overseas possession - activity rose to previously unknown levels. The Harbour and airfields had to be expanded, and with those expansions, more Canadians would travel there. Originally, home to less than 20,000 Canadians - 50% of them soldiers to keep the peace - the region would see the numbers of North Americans rise quite a bit, in only the first months more than 30,000 people coming to settle there as workers, together with their families.

Meanwhile, designs for a new spaceshuttle were being made, one which would easily be capable of travelling between Bob and its moon...Or even to Mars and further.

Currently, two designs were done.

th_The_Next_Endeavour_by_JamieTakahash.jpg

th_Pegasus_by_bagera3005.png

(OOC: Clickable)

The first would be called the "Endeavour"-class shuttle.

The second the "Pegasus"-class shuttle.

Many other things had to be considered and to be done as well, but everything was progressing.

Canada would indeed be the first nation to establish a permanent base on the moon.
