sir jesus
The Melvin Republic would be greatly interested in this conference. President Landry has boarded the plane and is en route to Delhi, India... "President Landry, are you sure the people will approve of working towards an international framework?" "Of course, I will not compromise our sovereignty, and if our goals match those of our neighbors why not work together?" "These are good points, Madam President, but will the people know them?" "If we commit to anything, I'll make sure they understand the benefits of my decision." Edited April 9, 2009 by sir jesus

Maelstrom Vortex
The Conference room was large, cirular.. think U.N. style setup. Tom Clark was present representing Dragonisia. He looked around the room as representatives from the other parts of Asia took their seats, "To reiterate, the purpose of this conference is to attempt to establish a fame work for mutual cooperation in the South Asian region. We have specifically invited our physical neighbors because many of the items to be discussed her are regional issues. Our primary concerns today which we would like to see addressed are security measures taken against nuclear arms and other weapons of mass destruction known to be in the hands of terrorist organizations which have been active in the region, border security at key transit crossing points, and the changing situation on Bob mostly stemming from the instability generated by the wars in Europe. This floor is also open to the discussion of other issues. At this time the floor is open to proposed agenda items." "To recap, so far we have.. 1. NBC terror defense. 2. Border security. 3. Events causing global instability." "The floor is now open to other delegates, each is allotted 5 minutes to name their chosen topics of concern." Maelstrom Vortex
As the council meeting was progressing and Tom was speaking, one of the waiters serving the needs of the visitors left a tray with an envelope on it next to President Landry. Inside it, was a copy of the Dragon Bloc's constitution.
sir jesus
President Landry excused herself from the conference and opened the letter. Her hands had resumed the slight tremor that was her only nervous habit. She sat down and read the Constitution, slowly developing a smile as she went over its contents a second time. She knew that this could only benefit her people, and she knew they would applaud the economic connections that would be made. With the impending war in Eurasia, Landry knew that she needed to act quickly. Without consulting her advisers, she immediately signed the document at the bottom and placed it back in the envelope. Underneath the flap, she wrote a message, "Do not publicize this decision until I make a speech to my people. Let us prosper and succeed under one banner!" She called for an aide, and immediately ordered him to hand-deliver the message to Tom of Dragonisia, with one reminder, "If you so much as breathe on this letter, I will have you convicted of treason." sir jesus
President Landry stood at the podium, "In these times of EuroAsian crisis, we believe that a strong framework for military cooperation is necessary. At this moment, the Melvin Republic and Dragonisia are carrying out joint operations in the European theatre. I call all South Asian nations to go to war with us, now is the time when our newly born compatriotism can be put to the test. I also ask the nations of this conference to consider an attack on one of our sovereign territories is an attack on all of us. Also, my people have indicated that economic priorities are top on their list and have applauded the new weapons deal with Dragonisia. They have placed high demand on economic freedom and cooperation with our allies, and I see that as a worthy goal for all that are present today." An aide walked up and whispered in President Landry's ear. "That is all, thank you for your time." She rushed from the podium into a private conference room. Sir Keshav IV
The plane landed and Keshav stepped out. Tears fell from his immediately. I have always imagined walking in Delhi when I sat in Chennai. I could always imagine myself ruler of the complete Indian Sub-continent but Slavorussia always got in my way. It is sad that in the end how I hated them turned and supported them. Oh well guess I have to send Dragonisia my congratulations on completing my dream. He continued walking towards the security team waiting to be sent to the conference room. He wiped the tears from his eyes and wore his shades before moving on. Maelstrom Vortex
"You're lucky, you kind of arrived near its beginning. Melvin Republic has joined the Dragon Bloc and our neighbors have been invited to join it. We also are calling for co-operation towards: 1. NBC terror defense. 2. Border security. 3. Events causing global instability. We've also left the floor open to other discussion. Melvin Republic repeated the call to regional co-operation in this regard and have pledged their support." Sir Keshav IV
NBC Terror Defense? May you tell us what this is?
Maelstrom Vortex
"Nuclear biological and chemical terror defense. The premise is placing the correct forces and equipment at strategic entry points to the nation for smuggled weapons and in doing so render any attempt to bring such weapons into a nation for an attack impossible. We're hoping the entire region will take up this concept and begin to apply it to adequately secure their borders and protect their populations. The technique is not oppressive and merely slows transit a little in order to be implemented."
Sir Keshav IV
That seems pretty expensive, but we will see how to work on it. Border Security is a must unless we want events that happened in IndoChina repeat itself. But how do you see on moving forward to work on such points?
sir jesus
"We have not yet experienced a terror attack, and I personally want to keep it that way. We are in support of controlling all border traffic but this will come at an economic price: congestion and slower moving freight. The Melvin Republic highly values economic stability and growth, and if we do not achieve it, you may be speaking to a different President." She smiled and began a small presentation with slides and graphs. "My economic and transportation experts have informed me that the most cost effective way to reduce this would be to ease the movement of goods between our nations. In this way we can reduce incoming foreign freight and the subsequent possibility of NBC weapons slipping through. I have a somewhat major plan we could follow through with and its benefits far outweigh the consequences." "We suggest the construction of an underground magnetic railway that links our nations to one another. This would carry several benefits: - Would easily facilitate the movement of goods and passengers - Serve as a fast way for our leaders to meet for future conferences - Reduce foreign traffic ... and threats - Serve as a safe route for military use during war" "I know the project sounds expensive, but it would be a short-term cost with great long-term rewards."
