Uralican Maximum Border Set
PERM', URALICA - Uralican government officials and supporters met in Perm' for the last week to set Uralica's land claim boundaries as it expands. As Tribal Chief Jarkko Salomäki said, the idea wasn't so much a land-grab as it was an attempt to prevent one by taking only those lands that were historically inhabited by Uralics, although a couple areas that were predominantly non-Uralic, that is, the former Sverdlovsk and Vologda oblasts as well as Chuvashia, insisted on being involved. What this would mean for the Turkic Chuvash peoples is unknown, as the proceedings today were strictly based on theory, not on actual current Uralican boundaries, which at present encompass most of the Komi Republic, the eastern half of Arhangel'sk Oblast (including the city Arkhangel'sk itself), most of Kirov and Perm' Oblasts, and a sliver of the northwest of Sverdlovsk Oblast.
The final list of regions that Uralica will actually claim upon expansion is as follows:
- The Komi Republic (already mostly part of Uralica)
- Nenetsia
- Yamalo-Nenetsia
- Khantia-Mansia
- Udmurtiya
- Sverdlovsk Oblast
- Arkhangel'sk Oblast
- Permski Kray
- Vologda Oblast
- Karelia
- Murmansk Oblast
- Mari El
- Chuvashia
Additionally, two districts of the former Leningrad Oblast, centered around Viipuri (formerly Vyborg) and Käkisalmi (formerly Priozersk) have been set aside.
The above-denoted land (in white) was unanimously approved as the absolute maximum expansion of Uralica. A meeting will be held in Cheboksary in the coming days to determine what status the Chuvash language would have within a Uralica including Chuvashia.
Potential Uralican marine claims include Novaya Zemlya and Zemlya Frantsa Iosifa, however they do not extend further than 50 kilometres north of Zemlya Frantsa Iosifa's coastline.
