Red Team non-NPO nations

I've been tracking Red nations not flying the NPO AA for a bit now.

April 18th: 1592

June 11th: 1288

June 17th: 1259

The debate is on as to whether Revenge and Moldavi, both now effectively suspended, were good or bad for the Red Team.

In OOC terms, I actually have no opinion. You'd expect something of a reduction anyway, given that the number of total nations is dropping pretty fast at the moment. But still, tracking the numbers might prove interesting to some people.

This kind of person at least. :v:

I think the diving number of red nations is because of the 300-400 nations who abandoned them during the way. Before the war, NPO controlled roughly 2/3 of the red team, give or take.

I personally think the Moldavi was horrible for the red team, as it definitely restricted the number of good trades available to the average person. Thus, there was little incentive to go on red if you were part of an alliance. The Revenge, if it operated alone without the Moldavi, wouldn't have changed things much either way simply because the dominant trading spheres depend on the number and calibur of it's alliances rather than dependence on the unaligned.

No, they didn't.

This count is based on subtracting the total number of NPO red nations from the total number of Red nations.

Before the war, NPO had about 1/3 of the nations in the red team.

Did you track this data long enough ago to see the effect of the introduction of Revenge? Tracking it now is going to be very difficult to get meaningful answers from, because of the many other factors (for example NPO having brought its unaligned banks back in AA, and recruited heavily within the unaligned).

There's no way that Moldavi can have been good for the team, since it restricted many nations from moving to Red or taking a full part in the game while being on Red. Revenge is nominally still in place but I heard that several alliances are raiding through it anyway.

Nope, I didn't, unfortunately. I created my nation the summer after GWIII, both doctrines were in place then already. :)

Yes, both doctrines have been in de facto suspension because of the war.

NPO appears to be attempting a revival of Revenge, however.

Its all about how you define "playing the game" the doctrine was horrible for those that wanted to be red, but participate in the OWF, world diplomacy etc, but great for those that just wanted to play the nation simulation game. But really, I honestly dont think many were effected by its institution, or loss. I think the reason for the drop was many felt (rightly so) that due to the war, the revenge doctrine was no longer protecting them (which was why they were there in the first place) and fled to safer areas. They could care less whether another alliance was on red or not.
