War Explosion? Not quite.

I've been getting tons of IRC queries about where TSO falls in the midst of the current hostilities. I don't think that is too hard to figure out, honestly (hint: we only have one treaty). With that said, be rest assured of this one thing: If we get involved we'll unleash hell on whoever we're up against.

Moar of Skingrad's propaganda:

Here are a few random observations of current events:

Who Is the Bad Guy? First of all, I can't fault either side of this. It seems pretty clear to me that OV asked for a beatdown, and it also seems pretty clear to me that OV's allies have the mandate to defend OV. Props to both sides! The reasons behind the war and the CB are irrelevant to me at this point.

Bob explodes into War!!! Ehh... not really, not yet. As of this writing there are three parties involved in active warfare. We assume that treaties will kick in tonight and there will be twice as many alliance's involved. For instance, VE and GOD will come to Ordo Verde's defense. Which will, presumably, draw in the rest of Q. That is just one set of dominoes. These dominoes are falling fairly slow. People have been giddy with war talk for a week now, and we are only now just getting started.

The question is escalation. If I am reading the Treaty Web correctly, then I think if this thing were to escalate (and it still may not) then the escalation is going to be slow. I think that many observers are expecting an explosive escalation, but the thick plethora of contradicting treaties and long cancellation clauses will inhibit that, in my opinion. It has been slow so far, and looks like it will continue slowly.

Give it some Q Noz! Now, with that said, I see one way to speed this thing up. Tonight, Superfriends are going to join in, I see no way around it. Q would be very wise to preemptively strike SF alliances in anticipation of their inevitable attacks against Q targets (NPO). If that happens, most of the treaty web will get dragged into this very fast.

What do you think?
