DISCLAIMER: In no way am I connected to Agora any longer. TSO is not a member of Agora. These are only the author's thoughts.
As Agora muddles through its final days, I have taken a few moments to reflect on what we accomplished and did not accomplish. So, with that, I give you a woulda, coulda, shoulda.
If I had my druthers, and could do it over again, I would have done a few things differently.
Independents Only. One of the major problems that Agora had was the fact that several signatories had other blocs that consumed more of their time and resources. 1V and Q were older and more prestigious blocs. Having signatories that were also members of these power blocs worked to our disadvantage since we were basically a second tier concern. Part of the reason we were a second tier concern was because we were only an ODP/Econ bloc. However, it was the alliances from 1V and Q that wanted it to be ODP. In other words, from the very beginning we were chopped liver. Instead, I would probably have pushed to limit the signatories to independent alliances like TFD, NADC, etc. The independent alliances were the most active and reliable.
MDP Instead. While I think we were right in focusing on economics, we should have made it a MDP bloc. With the sordid nature of the Web, all signatories were much more loyal to non-Agora relationships. This created an imbalance. NADC's closest allies were all in Agora, so the dedication was strong. However, this was not so for other signatories. The imbalance was too much and apathy reigned. A unity bloc needs dedication.
Blue Only. This hardly needs to be elucidated. We should have restricted signatories to the blue sphere.
Here's to good intentions!
