Things To Get Off My Chest: Iron Man 3

Captain Marin

Sorry, I know it's a bit late..

Iron Man 3 is by far the worst super hero movie I have seen

in my life time. The rescue scene of those 12 people falling a million stories

to their doom, psychological warfare of Tony after the Avengers incident and Downey Jr's phenomenal portrayal of Iron Man are the only positive aspects from the film. But other than that, this film resembled the same let-down and the same fail of Spider-Man 3.

1.The Annoying, Unnecessary Little Kid

This little kid approaches Tony and annoys him until Tony

likes him. Tony starts to connect with him more and more throughout the film

until BAM! he assigns him to help him build an armor while he is away. Tony

assists and walks the little kid in creating the armor (noting that this little

boy doesn't even have a background in technological and mechanical studies) in

a minute-long phone call. In the end of the film, I also noticed that we saw

dozens and dozens of Iron suits fly in to save Tony's and Pepper's ass. Here is

my issue, instead of telling the kid to build this armor, why didn't he instead

call up one of the suits he activated? And another note, how the hell does a

little kid who doesn't even know how to use a screwdriver build this suit that

took Tony days to construct with one 60-second phone call?

The Choice of Villain

Maybe Mandarin might've been an excellent choice for Iron

Man 1 or 2, but once you have introduced a villain that 5 beings with

superhuman abilities and the entire government was needed to seize this

villain, then you need to start creating villains that are relatively strong as

Loki. If a God that has perfected and mastered the works of magic ,and brought

in legions of aliens that threatened the world, has failed to meet the same

goal the "Mandarin" attempted to accomplish, how in the flying $%&@

does "the Mandarin" believe he will achieve?

Pepper

So I saw Pepper as the same with IM2. She's supportive for

Tony and lets the audience know how much she loves him. She gets kidnapped by

the"real" Mandarin to be a test subject and succeeds. The Extremis

virus now lives within Pepper, gets thrown deep towards an abyss, and she's

dead. Fortunately, the Extremis virus rescued Pepper from death and rises to

kill the "real" Mandarin and save Tony's ass. Here is the issue,

Pepper is so $%&@in old and when I saw Pepper do all these flips and kicks in a

sports bra, I thought of it as the most cheesiest scene in all comic book

movies. They have totally overused a secondary character to this story and made

a supportive role become the main role (more main that Tony Stark) out of the

blue and just over $%&@in used it to be honest. Was it even necessary to make

Pepper's character like this? That's not the main issue thought, but it is one

of the reasons why I disliked it. To be honest, she looked a little too old to

even have a role this big and do actions so action-packed that I visioned it as

grandma kicking ass and couldn't take the film serious after the climax. The

main reason is that Marvel now has this supportive role as strong and as

powerful as all of the Avengers combined, even more!

Speaking of the Avengers...

What is the purpose of Phase 1, which is to build a Marvel

Cinematic Universe, if the follow-up film of the Avengers will be SHIELD or

Avengers-Free. I did not see a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in this movie. Some might

argue that Iron Man say that he wanted SHIELD out of the conflict which

explains they're absence, but SHIELD is a worldwide organization that fends

from others that try to cause chaos within Earth, no matter who says to back

off (i.e. the Avengers).

The Iron Patriot

Now that they have done this to the Iron Patriot, this

automatically eliminates the Dark Avengers/Dark Reign storyline to be told [:(]

And last but expected, the Mandarin

Here we have a dude who has killed another dude LIVE ON TV.

You might have this ideology that he is a ruthless aggressor that no one should

$%&@ with. Fast forward 30 minutes, he turns out to be a puppet who falls

victim to alcoholism and appears to be nothing but a pimp. Out of all the

movies, geeks should freak out right in this spot and give up all hope in the

movie! The Mandarin is Norman Osborn to Tony's Spider-Man, the Joker to Stark's

Batman, but no, Marvel had to single-handedly $%&@ up the Marvel Universe by

doing this exact move and this exact movie. And to top it all off, the

"real" Mandarin was killed by a chick that suckerpunched this dude

who has the same powers as Pepper. The REAL Mandarin (not the !@#$%^&*ted,

assholic rich boy we got in IM3)

had such an

incredible background and the Extremis storyline was so glorious that it does

not deserve the injustice this stupid film portrayed.

I admire the beginning of the movie, the beggining-middle,

and its introduction. I love how the Battle of New York in the Avengers film

had honorable mentions in this movie and caused psychological scars to Tony.

The 12-man rescue scene and Robert Downey Jr's acting was phenomenal, sadly, I

couldn't say the same for the rest. I was heavily disappointed by Iron Man 2

and expected this to recover the Iron Man trilogy, but this movie was nothing

but a joke, literally. Maybe I am so pissed off at this film because I expected

more, maybe I am so pissed off at this film because it is so $%&@in overrated,

maybe I am so pissed off at this film because I watched it once, but only time

will tell once I rent (not buy, I will never buy this garbage of a movie in)

DVD, maybe I will have some sympathy, but until then...

2.5/10

No Love...

If you think that one's bad (which to be fair, I haven't seen it so I can't judge this one properly), then you haven't watched very many super hero movies. I'm one of those people that will watch pretty much anything once, and from my experiences with super hero movies, most of them are pretty terrible.

Best super hero movies are perhaps:

The Watchmen

The Dark Knight (with the joker)

Spiderman (with Dafoe and Tobey Macguire)

All the others suck. These arguably suck too, and they're some of the best!

Even jessica alba's hot bod couldn't save the Fantastic Four.

After seeing you put Phantom Menace above A New Hope in your profile I realize why this review is so ridiculous.

Woooooow. This is pretty damning.

I really love super hero movies since I am such a huge comic book fanatic and since I have seen the trailer to Iron Man 3 and was aware that the Mandarin will be the main antagonist in the film and was really, really excited to see this. I was thinking to myself the many possibilities this film could be a success and seeing the one villain I thought that will never be in the big screen correct that theory of mine. I saw it, and it seemed like the writers tried to make Iron Man more of a Comedy than an Action Film. The whole movie was filled with cheesy one-liners, serving injustice to the characters that deserved to be treated more fairly, and a really corny climax.

The favorite comic-book-based films I appeared to enjoy were all X-Men Films, Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Nolan's Batman Trilogy, Captain America: The First Avenger, Incredible Hulk, Man of Steel, and the Avengers. I haven't seen Watchmen yet, but I was meaning to at some point to find a good time to watch it since the movie is so long and real life keeps on interrupting. The first Fantastiv Four was alright, nothing special, but at least it wasn't as horrible nor as a trainwreck as FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer was.

Hope was alright as a Star Wars film, but Phantom Menace slightly defeated A New Hope since the lightsaber battle of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon vs Darth Maul was that epic. The only thing that I despised from that film was Natalie Portman's plain, boring voice, Padme's ridiculous outfit, the large-ass race that featured the kid as the winner, and the little kid as well. And that list in my profile is a bit outdated. What was going through my mind putting Empire Strikes Back below Phantom Menace?!

Phantom Menace, along with the rest of the prequels, relied on flash to tell their stories instead of writing/acting.

The story, the lightsaber battles, writing, and acting of the prequels reached excellency. The only thing I had a problem with the prequels were the dialogue and Jar Jar Binks.

Iron Man 3 is the worst in the trilogy. It had so much going for it and it just flat out sucked. I hated how the Mandarin wasn't even a person, it was retarded.

A dude that agrees with me about this very topic! Finally!

Movies used to do this to good books, now they have finally done it to comics.

Nah, the Twilight series was perfect and made vampires and werewolves look like fierce creatures that craves upon blood and howls homo sapiens for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It also provides such a great love story that struck my heart beating with compassion and glory as the oh-so good-looking Edward sticks his taste-budding providence down the throat of an excited and steaming hot Kristen Stewart.

If only I can say that with a straight face, that series was terrible, lol

...and I thought I was the only one who thought Iron Man 3 was bad.

I should note that this is coming from someone who hasn't even seen Iron Man 1 and 2.

They must've been remotely decent if they were able to make a third installment.

Now remember, most third installments don't work. Very few have actually been good. This one just isn't one of those...

I did see both films and thought of Iron Man 1 to be the only decent installment to the franchise. Iron Man 2 was horrendous but not as horrendous as this one.

I have to say, Spiderman series has been routinely terrible. Although, The Watchmen is the worst movie (not just super hero movie) that I have ever watched. The storyline bounced around a lot, what the movie sounded like and what it came out to be was almost completely different, and the movie barely made any sense at all. Plus the blue guy with his dong flapping everywhere didn't help the situation.

Iron Man 3 didn't really match what I was expecting from it. I can't say it was terrible but definitely not the best.
