Something New

Inspired by Welcome to R3DEMPTION

First thing, this blog will be oriented towards hip-hop and rap. If you don't like it, try it anyways, because a lot of stuff I listen to is just below the mainstream. I'm semi-hipster, if you will. That being said, the first things I'll endorse are Acid Rap and Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever by Chance the Rapper and Logic, respectively. Pick them up. They're mixtapes, so they're free projects. It costs nothing but a bit of browsing through the songs to make up your mind if you like them.

I also write a little, but I won't be posting anything I've wrote here until I find something more...appropriate.

Logic is one of the few young artists that I respect in the rap game. Most young rappers nowadays rap about the same factors that are destroying hip-hop (That's right, Im looking at you Chief Keef and Lil Twist). His verse on the XXL Freshmen 2013 Cypher was the best!

As for Chance, I cant say the same as I did to Logic. He has great metaphors and knows how to flow, but he seems like he just sing-rapped throughout the verses in Acid Rap.

I hope you post up some of your lyrics dude. I wanna hear what you got!

I enjoyed Acid Rap. Particularly "Favorite Song" and the outro. I think the mock-singing was pretty much the point of the cut. It's supposed to sound airy and trippy, and it does a good job of what it intends to. He's kind of rubbed off on me since he appeared on Gambino's Royalty tape.

I used to really like hip-hop but I've kind of lost touch with it. The newest stuff I've listened to more than once was Gangrene. Are you familiar with them and can you suggest stuff that is similar?

Most of the hip-hop I still possess is probably too old to talk about here.

The closest comparison I can think of is a cross between Curren$y and Cage, who are both old enough in the game that you might know them. The beats are entirely different to what most artists would touch nowadays, though.

Listening to the first song, logic sounds like someone i've heard before. I can't place it. I'll give the mixtape a run through though.

He's drawn a lot of comparisons to current artists after making the XXL Freshmen list.

Also holy $%&@ when did you come back?

I definitely like the mix tape. I also posted that all over facebook as well.

I got back like ten days ago.

It's an awesome mixtape. And that's lovely. Glad to see you around again.

too much repetitive doctor suess type lyrics. most good rap is from ppl that ain't popular. mc juice and mikey osito are good. not just a bunch of shooting.
