Why we Are Losing Players

Ok, so this is my first blog:

In the few months I have played this game, I've noticed a few things; very troubling things that a few people have really addressed.

It regards the way veterans of this game treat new players. From what I have noticed, the older players, instead of welcoming new players into the community; they look down on them and insult them.

Perfect example, I read a blog recently in which a poll was created on whether or not we should drive away a fellow player who's name I won't mention. This player may offend some of you by the things he says, but I don't think it's fair to just drive away a valuable player(arguably) from this community. He isn't even the only example, I'm sure that there are many more out there.

The bottom line is that this is wrong, we all should be more welcoming of our new members. This is From the Mind of Lex Luthor, thank you and God bless.

Right, the key to success in CN, as in many other things is to watch, learn the ropes and figure out how things work before you start telling others what to do. Could some of the vets be nicer? Sure. But When you have been here for 6 or 7 years, and you know the ins and outs of the game. It is pretty ridiculous when someone like Winner tells you you are wrong about game mechanics, alliance politics etc.

Yeah ill agree with this here especially given the owner of this blog. If youre new, you probably shouldnt tell people theyre wrong when it comes to issues of game mechanics and understanding why certain stats are or arent important. Stuff like that gets you laughed at and no one takes you seriously because youre arguing things you know nothing about.

It is not just the new guys that leave. Older players leave all the time. Its just the way things are. People outgrow the games they used to love. Of course some of them cuss like mad when they find out a big war started the week after they deleted out of boredom :P

As a relatively new nation, i sort of understand what you are trying to say here, having had my own share of run-ins on the owf, but in the end, it does not really matter. I mean, its just talk, mostly. Now if you go about making an ass of yourself, you had better be someone like rebel virginia in the thick skin department, that guy is a force to be reckoned with!!!

OP is right. Does it mean that dude is any less of a waste of time? Nope.

Actions speak louder than words in Bob, and those are what players should be judged upon. New players can and should be forgiven their mistakes, but those that are not new, and fail to be at least somewhat respectable are unlikely to gain my sympathies.

I'll let the Alliances he ghosted and ran away from decide how he should be dealt with. Acting like a sufferer of USI in the IC forums doesn't help.

There are plenty of reasons why CN is losing players involving how the game works, the politics, the way players are treated. The fact is the longer you play this game the less fun it becomes and it starts to feel more like a job. Its hard to leave something you invested so much time into but if you let your nation sit too long or if you are completely destroyed in a war its an excuse to get out.
